Montes Cafe

I am not sure if this is authentic Mexican food but it doesn’t even matter because everything is delicious! You can tell they use fresh ingredients and prepare everything the day of. The service is great, fast and friendly. I’ve never had a bad experience here and I have been here multiple times.

We came here for a very late dinner and the food is definitely Authentic Mexican. The service was great and the flavor was on point. 👶No changing tables or highchair.

Always on the hunt for authentic tacos and this place is definitely it!!! So delicious, you won't regret it. I would have gone there every day of my vacation, but sadly we found it on our last night there. Next time, will be back for sure!

I have been coming to Seaside in the summer my entire life. My family orders from other Mexican "inspired" restaurants in the area and for years I have been disappointed with their food. Monte's is a blessing. The moment I stepped foot inside to pick up my food I could tell this place was authentic. The food followed through. My tinga tostadas were one of my favorite meals I have eaten in months. They were absolutely up to the highest quality bar I have for comparison. The quesadillas were also outstanding. The veggie was delicious, though my uncle complained that the shrimp one did not have enough shrimp in it. The tacos all had good tortillas. The carnitas tasted good, it had a full flavor to it. The chicken in the tacos was dry, but the provided sauces were good. You can tell the chips are made in-house. They were very good. The guac was smoother than I expected. My family wanted empanadas. They were fine, but I didn't expect anything special on that front from a Mexican place. On the whole this was not the best Mexican food I have ever eaten, but it so far surpasses its competition and does certain things such as the tostadas, quesadillas, and chips well enough that I am giving it 5 stars. I am ashamed it took me this long to discover Monte's in Seaside.

Excellent value! Great tasting food too. Some can be very spicy so ask if you can’t take serious heat

Had the Birria tacos. They are amazing. I added just a dash of salt, their green hot sauce and lime. And then dip, baby!
Tender, juicy, flavorful.
Ordered a burrito to go, and can’t wait to be hungry again.

A great find! My family will definitely return. Montes Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Seaside. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. This was our first time here but certainly not our last. If you are in or around Seaside this place is the place to go.

Got some chilaquiles. It was delicious and a massive portion. I couldn't finish mine it was so big!

Update: I came back again and this time I got huevos rancheros, and they were INCREDIBLE!!!!! I am definitely coming back to Montes Cafe, and I will be visiting their new location on the boardwalk as well. So far I've only had their breakfast food, but the tacos and burritos look amazing too. Super excited to try them when I have a chance. I'll definitely be returning here!

Authentic Mexican food that is consistently delicious. The chorizo & potato tacos here are some of the best things I've ever eaten. Everyone here is super friendly. As their sign says, this is not fast food - prepare to wait or call in your order ahead of time.

We have visited Montes two years in a row on our yearly visit to Seaside Heights and will be back again. Food is fresh and amazing! Absolutely fantastic!

Great cafe! can't believe I have never experienced this gem of a cafe since we are locals in OC all our life. The food we ordered to eat in was just DELICIOUS with very good quality ingredients and prepared lovingly. I ordered fish tacos and as I said just delicious!! My sister in law ordered the steak bowl and enjoyed it very much. it looked very good and with quality ingredients. We were served by a lovely woman and her polite and kind daughter, the father even visit our table once to ask if we needed anything and this family who owns it are so very kind and so very polite. I can't wait to return with my husband. They even had unsweetened iced tea in bottles but was a very good brand. I highly recommend Montes Cafe. Just go trust me.

Massive menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Very fairly priced. Tacos Al pastor were seasoned perfectly but a tad dry. Guacamole side was a but small, but tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely return!

Monte’s Café is the best Mexican restaurant in all the Jersey Shore. Their menu is extensive and I could have their tacos for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a night out on the colorful boardwalk. Their Monte’s Special Chicken Fingers w the spicy cherry tomato … BANGIN’. No Doubt!!! Good food, good peoples.

We had a lovely meal here. You must get the empanadas. It's also worth ordering a hot beverage just so you can drink out of their adorable mugs.

If youre tired of the same food in Seaside Heights, Montes Cafe is definitely a place Id recommend. One of the hidden gems on the island that has authentic food and a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend, great food and service been going here for years now.

Ordering online was super convenient and accurate. Barria tacos were good. I suggest the chimichanga - very cheesy with sour cream and tasty. Pico de Gallo was a good size and chips were crunchy
