Went to Gus's for the first time yesterday! The Miracle On Valley Christmas celebration is so fun and festive! The staff was friendly and attentive. The cocktails are fun and creative, the food is bar food but elevated ( yum!) The fact that is it also family friendly is a plus! It's not so quiet, making it the perfect place to bring my toddler who can also not be so quiet! The general manager (who is apparently new) came around ,introduced himself and made sure everything was to our liking! Looking forward to going back!

It's the "most wonderful time of the year!" Miracle on Valley will be sure not to disappoint. The food was seasonal, fun and yummy. The drinks were also a hit! I had the Carol Barrel and the newest to the menu the Marshmellows & 🦄 Unicorns, a very unique blend. It is sweet but where else can you drink out of a Unicorn? We tried the deviled eggs, which were very good, the chopped fresh red pepper truly added a little something special. The rosemary foccacia is served warm with olive oil. The parmesan fries were crisp and fresh. The shrimp ceasar was a little heavy on the dressing but shrimp were cooked very good. The only con was We booked online for 7:30 on Sunday, and when we arrived our waiter had to see if the kitchen was still open. Which was confusing. They did bring our apps but not the macaroni & cheese cheese I ordered. So perhaps go earlier or on a Friday & Saturday when they are open later. Still it didn't deture me from buying the Unicorn souvenir mug! I recommend going for a great night out for with your friends or a super fun date.

A delightful and inviting experience. We visited on Monday where we celebrated my gf birthday, through her sister's recommendation. The space is pleasant, with games to play as a group- including a smaller version of the 90s Nintendo. The backyard is small but cozy. The main star was the food, nothing compared to "bar food" full of grease or pre-packaged fast food. This was well presented, cooked meals in the restaurant style. We plan to return, definitely a

This place was great! After walking out of Biggies who completely ignored me after being seated for 15 minutes I decided to come to Gus Last Word which was only about 5 mins away from Biggies. I’m so happy I did! I came during happy hour on a Friday, sat at the bar and was immediately greeted and waited on. The Happy Hour menu is amazing, I got the chili cheese fries as well as their garlic soy wings. I ordered 3 drinks from their happy hour menu which were $8 each and I was feeling good afterward 😂. As I was getting ready to leave (about 7p) the live entertainment was being set up. The staff here was friendly, clean bathroom and nice ambience. I’d definitely come back for Happy Hour if I’m in the area! Please Like 👍🏾 if this was helpful 😊

Stopped by for drinks and a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised. The outdoor dining section is super cute and has a beach feel. The cobb salad is huge and can easily be shared. The spinach dip is amazing and has a slight citrus taste that compliments the richness of the dip. Definitely recommend this place.

Really tasty and friendly local bar. A bit loud and busy on a Tuesday night, but a great experience. They were hosting trivia when we went, and seems like a great place to go and get a few drinks, even on a weeknight. Portions were very filling, was stuffed after splitting an entree and appetizer. Will definitely be coming back!

They really done a great job fixing up the place. The ambiance is prefect. Warm and welcoming. We started off with the spinach and artichoke dip. Which was just delicious. Then for our main course we got the fried chicken sandwich jalapeno on it I came in french fries and the Irish grilled cheese. Both were absolutely fabulous. Just delicious. Service was great as well. Water being refilled at the most prefect moments. Drink was strong and delightful. Will be coming back for many more meals.

Went to Gus' for their Miracle event and was so pleased! Everything was great! The decor, the drinks, the food. Our server was so nice and helpful. We got the burger, which was cooked to perfection. Our drinks were lovely and carefully crafted. The flavors were great as they went beyond traditional cocktails. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Truly a gem of a cocktail bar. Enjoyed a Yippee Ki Yay, Chrismapolitan, and Jingle Balls Nog and they each were delightful.
The service was very good and the holiday decor was on point.
Skopos hospitality group has done it again. When I see their name I know we’re in for an elevated experience.

We hosted our wedding party at Gus' Last Word, coordinated by the fabulous Annmarie. All our requests were met with nothing but excitement, and the entire planning process was painless.

We had initially picked this venue given the reasonable cost of a full buy-out, along with the fantastic decor and vibe of the space. The service provided during the event exceeded all expectations. Scott, the manager, checked in on us frequently to ensure we were well accommodated. His caring disposition was shared by the entire staff, making the night incredibly special.

I highly recommend Gus' Last Word for your next event!

A classy 1950s style bar, Gus' Last Word did not disappoint on opening night.

From the list of cocktails, my girlfriend had Gus' Last Word signature cocktail and I had the Wood-ridge Old Fashioned. The drinks were balanced, boozy, and well crafted.

Gus' Last Word signature cocktail is a Gin based cocktail with a flowery, fresh, and citrusy aroma. The Woodridge Old Fashioned was a well made regular Old Fashioned, named in honor of the town. Both cocktails were made perfectly each time (Two rounds).

To start off the evening dinner, for starters we had the Chicken Tacos, Chicken Lollipops, and Oysters.

The tacos were fresh and flavorful and filled with grilled chicken, coleslaw, guacamole, and cilantro aioli . However, when it came to value it was a bit overpriced for three small tacos at $16. For the price, I recommend filling it up a little bit more.

The Chicken Lollipops were absolutely amazing and offered value for the price at $10 based on the size. The appetizer is two drumsticks lightly breaded and fried to a perfect golden crisp drizzled in honey. It tasted fresh, crispy, yet tender inside, with a hint of delicious honey. It is not overly sweet, just lightly accented which was great.

To round out the starters, I ended it with two fresh Oysters. While, it isn't every Oyster lover's price at $3/oyster, each oyster was extremely fresh and iced well. The overall quality was 5/5.

Leading into the entrees we had the Cajun Mac & Cheese and a Bison Burger. While I have a picture of the Cajun Mac, I had forgotten to take a photo of the burger.

The Bison Burger was well seasoned and cooked to my liking (medium well). It had caramelized onions, with creamy goat cheese, and on a perfectly toasted brioche bun. Overall it was an excellent burger, however the patty itself could use more meat.

Lastly we shared the Cajun Mac & Cheese, which was well seasoned and creamy with small bits of sausage and blackened shrimp. While it wasn't my favorite, it was still a good dish. I felt that for a Cajun style pasta it needed a bit more of a kick (spice flare).

Overall, it was an excellent evening dinner at Gus' Last Word. The entire staff was friendly, warm and inviting throughout our time. Plates were quickly cleaned off when finished, our candle went out and was replaced instantly, waters filled without asking etc.

The cherry on top for hospitality and customer service was having the owner, Tom, stop by right after our meals. He was warm, welcoming and receptive to feedback. He let us know about happy hours and brunch, which is one of the things we wondered about.

Tom has a hometown vision, which hits home for someone like myself, living blocks away.

Gus' Last Word quality and service gets a 5/5 based on no issues with those two categories. As far as value, for a local dinner it is a bit pricy 3/5. Despite this, it is worth trying. The introduction of a Happy Hour this week should tip the scales higher, which I will update based on the experience.

Overall, we had an excellent dinner, and will be returning for happy hour and brunch!

I'm so thrilled about Gus' Last Word. Elevating Wood Ridge's food and cocktail options exponentially - the 50s throwback restaurant seeks to transport patrons to another era, but it also feels like being transported across the Hudson to one of Manhattan or Brooklyn's swankiest spots.

Favorite bites so far: Deviled eggs (like your grandmas but with delicious fancy lava salt), Pork tenderloin (can you say cheese grits), Chicken (Supréme sauce 🤤); Favorite sips: Roman Holiday (tequila-based, with cucumber, egg white), La Bomba (more tequila, this time with hellfire bitters, spicy honey), Bolero Snort "Weekend at Moothies" smoothie sour on tap (from just down the road at the Carlstadt-based brewery).

Only downside? I'm moving from Wood-Ridge and will have a longer commute if I want to visit. But if you have read this far, go and pay them a visit for me!

Tried them for the first time at Happy Hour and loved them. Got two pints of local beer on draught and the best deviled eggs I've ever had. I'm coming back with the family.

I can not say enough good things about this place and all its sister restaurant. Every single food item ordered is delicious, the speak easy theme and chill atmosphere is refreshing, and the service is great and the workers seem happy to be there. We enjoyed the backyard patio and ordered: fried cauliflower (my favorite), fondue sampler, and brisket tacos.

We had the pleasure of have Bryan as our server, but he normally acts as the manager. He was so attentive and personable. It felt as if we were speaking with a friend.

Will definitely be returning.

They nailed the concept of comfort food while putting their spin on it with a local and seasonal twist. We ordered a special red ockre sunset to contribute to Negroni Week. Was especially blown away by the fried chicken lollipops and Cajun shrimp Mac & cheese! The peach caprese was very refreshing and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly.👌🏼 From the interior decor of witty art throughout the space to the tiniest details like a cow shaped gravy boat pouring the gravy onto perfectly creamy mashed potatoes - every little part of your dining experience has personality and becomes memorable. Well done Skopos Group!

Last night we celebrated my daughter's Sweet 16 with family at Gus'. The staff could not be more accommodating and friendly. The food was fantastic and the drinks were unique and on point. The ambiance was uniquely nostalgic and my parents especially loved it! We will definitely be back to experience their Sunday Jazz brunch!

We only had drinks and dessert, but they were top notch! The Back Frost Cookies were served hot with bonus ice cream, and were delicious. The Snowball Old- Fashioned was also great. Loved the little Hanukkah Nook we were sitting in! Great idea, well executed.

The food and drinks here are so delicious! We have eaten at Cowan’s public and the barrow house and finally decided to check this one out and we’re so happy we did. We got the Prociutto di Parma pizza and tacos. The Tuesday trivia was a lot of fun as well.

Just wanted to give these guys a shout-out, we had a great time last night. The place looks great with the festive decor, and despite it being a busy night, all the staff from door man, host, coat-check girl and waitress were all super nice and chill. Nobody seemed stressed and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Love this place. If I may make one suggestion... more menu options please ? This is a great place to come for fun cocktails, and I wish there were more shareable appetizers to have with drinks - like cauliflower bites, bruschetta, charcuterie? ❤
