Really a neat little gem that has been preserved for years. The tree itself is a must see in person to be able to understand the fullness of it.

Wow. If you wonder if you should visit and you're spiritual or just love trees, you should definitely go!

What a hidden gem!!! It's a little tiny private garden with the oldest oak in Indy as the center piece. Beautiful!

Very cool local attraction. Estimated to be a few hundred years old (estimates range quite a bit). Great energy when we went in late October. Looking forward to going back at other times of the year. Bring a gift for the fairies... You've been warned!

Completely awe-struck by the size and beauty of this Burr Oak. Glad it could be preserved for all this time.

What a giant! This is a nice place for anyone who wants to sit in the presence of of something truly awesome. And it's a must see for any tree nerds out there! Also, the signs are from the 1970's, so the actual diameter of the tree is 71 inches, or 5'11"!

The Kile Oak is a thing of natural wonder. I love visiting the Oak for a moment of peace, and being in it's presence really is humbling. It's lived through it all, since before the U.S.A. existed.

Rumor has it that if you go there during sunrise on Halloween morning (but it has to be a Halloween that falls on Friday the 13th[this only happens every 69 years]) you can hear the singing of the old Miami Indians. In old times, the tribe elders would congregate under this scared oak; they would sing to their Gods and pray for a safe passage through the coming Winter. When they were done with this ritual they would go eat lunch at that Hardee's right around the corner. @ Brookville & Arlington (although, it was actually a Burger Chef back then)

I believe the hours for this location is as any other Indy park & you're able to go in from dusk til dawn. It's a small quiet area, very peaceful & tranquil. It's a good place to sit & think, when your mind won't turn off. Although it isn't a traditional "Child friendly" park, the kids can have fun, while learning. You can tell them about the tree's history & the reason behind it being fenced in & named "The Kile Oak" or talk about the way one can tell a trees age by the rings & because it's so big could have them guess, yet I am not sure the correct age, so we would be guessing along with them.
🍁This place is almost like a lil Irvington secret, due to its location & difficulty spotting it, even when driving by, unless you are looking for it. Anytime you're in or around the outskirts of Irvington, this is a place worth looking up.

My family watches HGTV, A show called Good Bones. On one if there shows, they talked about this tree. I wanted to see it, and learn it's history, and origin. I think it is a beautiful tree.

I have been visiting the Kile Oak for 30 years. It is one of the oldest known trees in Indiana. It saddens me to know that we would still be in old growth forest had settlers not turned Indiana into plains.

This is a very neat historical site in Irvington. The Kile Oak has been around since the American Revolution. Just being around something that was in existence for so long is it's an incredible experience. It is well kept but an almost lost secret place. Not very noticeable from the road. There are people who have lived in Irvington their entire lives and don't know it exists.

I love it! It's just a big ol tree and I love it. There's even a park bench so you can sit and read by it. But if you don't have a fondness for trees this may not be your thing.
