The place was good. You will remember the scene of the “Spirited Away” and they are selling so many merchandise there. You just need to bring tons of your patience as sometimes it can be traffic going upstairs. The overall experience is superb. ❤

It's my third time yo visit this place. I could say that visiting at night is great. Going here via bus from Ximen is pretty easy. There are a lot of things that you can eat and buy in this place. I really like buying some fruit vinegar here because my mom likes it.

Charming mountain town with delicious eats and stunning views. Jiufen Old Street is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Taipei. The narrow, winding alleys lined with shops, teahouses, and food stalls offer a glimpse into traditional Taiwanese life. Don't miss the chance to try the local specialty - taro and sweet potato balls! Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as there's a lot of exploring to do. The views from the top of the mountain are simply breathtaking!

Super neat. It was filled with shops and street food. The red lanterns were pretty. Unfortunately I was not there to see them light up. The views of the ocean were spectacular. The restaurants also have the view, so you get to see it while you eat lunch. The restaurants are pricey. All in all, it was a fun day.

I am going to give this 5 stars because it is always on the top of my friends must-see list when they visit me in Taiwan. Walking through the narrow alleys of stone steps and red lanterns with the ocean breeze, it is definitely more than just a tourist trap. But there are a lot of tourists.

Some things that people typically get here:
1) Ocarinas. They have ocarinas in all shapes and sizes and colors. It is the perfect souvenir for the musically inclined. The workers at the ocarina shop toot lovely notes and harmonious melodies.

2) taro balls

3) 阿蘭草仔粿

4) the peanut candy ice cream wrap

This is a great place to visit that showcases strong traditional style. But do be careful as the streets are narrow and walk ways can be steep.

It has a wide variety of food and drinks you can enjoy. Its a must visit for tea lovers, shops here offer ready to drink teas in different variants.

The highlight of the street is the Amei Tea Shop which is said to have inspired "Sad City" in the movie Spirited Away.

The prices are a bit on the higher side, but all shops offer free taste to customers.

Visited on a weekday but it was the local holiday. There's a slight wait driving up and a slow traffic leaving.
There's alot of walking and stairs climbing so not recommended for people with walking difficulties.
The view in the exterior is gorgeous, unfortunately the weather turned bad shortly after we arrived so visibility became an issue. It started fogging up and drizzling. Nonetheless we still enjoyed our little time there.
There's an interior walking street where there's food stalls, gifts shops, local snacks and such. It was extremely crowded flooded with locals and tourists that it's almost impossible to walk. It seems so due to the rain and everybody crowding in to hide from the rain.
Would love to visit this place again when the weather is better as it is reputable for it's view.

Nice old street with tons of street foods, and teas. Crowded even during weekdays. Commercialize but still fun to walk around and eat.

There is a good story how this place got popular where it was once abandon by the people lived there. All start from an ad and a movie/drama.

Please come during weekdays! Weekend is pack full.

Energetic street with magical old world charm. Lots of shopping, tea houses and food. Not to miss while in Taipei. Can get very crowded. Dress for the weather as can get very windy!

Super crowded area, lots of tourists, so be prepare to fight your way through the never-ending line. Lots of slippery steps to navigate, so be warned. Definitely not suitable for wheelchair and/or strollers. View is spectacular though. Many places to take good pictures - I personally liked the bus bay. You can head to any of the tea houses as well. The more popular ones have nice views but a tad pricey too.

This is one of my favorite old street to visit in Taiwan, but also one of the busiest. I haven’t been back here since 2016 and the biggest change I recognized is that it is now packed with Korean tourists - signs in the stores are all bilingual with Korean translations! After all these years, I am still super excited about all the night market style local food and souvenirs they offer!

One of the most interesting Old streets in Taiwan, especially for foodies. Many enticing regional specialties at every turn that were impossible to resist. Very narrow streets with hidden gems around every corner. Sweeping mountain and ocean views.

A must visit place. Lots of shops selling local tea, foodstuff and even liquor. The cold brew coffee was top notch and the Taiwan sausages as savoury and delicious as ever. Find a nice cafe with a view and have your lunch there. The people are really friendly and service is great! We spent over 3 hours there simply because we had lots to taste and buy! The relaxing atmosphere at the cafe also caused us to just chug down a couple of beers and sober up with the flower teas. My second trip here - would come back again!

A well established and known worldwide tourist attraction must visit location. Street Food Stalls are aplenty to savour one's taste buds. And of course, to purchase some local delicacies to bring home for both friends and love ones.

A must go if you're in the area. The area is basically a night market but the village on the hillside provides a unique experience. Just be careful of the stairs when it's wet. This area definitely isn't a good idea for the elderly and infirm because of all the steps and slopped concrete walkways. We went on a weekday and it was crowded with tourists and buses.

About an hour bus ride from Taipei, so better calculate a day (or at the very least half a day) for this trip. Jiufen, respectively this area, is often rainy so be prepared ☂🌧. The old street itself is decorated by beautiful red lanterns 🏮, making it a great photo spot. Also, if you're a fan of tea and small souvenirs and snacks stores it's absolutely worth a visit. If possible, avoid going there on weekends or public holidays, since it's already quite a touristic area and well visited by domestic and foreign tourists.

Nice old town. Good to visit in a few hours. Easily accessible from Taipei via Bus 965. If you want to avoid the crowds, be aware tour buses arrive around 9am.

Second time here with wonderful time. Take bus from MRT in Taipei about 1.20 hrs. drop in front of village. Perfect time to come is weekday and before noon. You will able to see view and get nice picture from here and the most thing is no long Q for everything. We spend time about 3 hours was very nice time.
