Zhushan Sunrise Observation Deck

The folks in hotel will inform daily the time train departs from Alishan station. We took the 5:40am train and it is quite crowded although non peak season, some people stand all the way. Could not get a spectacular sunrise as it is too cloudy and misty. Explored the surrounding area and had breakfast at the cafe, which was really nice and pleasant. Teas and breakfast at the cafe is on the high side thou the lady owner was really friendly and gave quite good explanation of the type of teas.

Great view for sunrise. Buy train ticket in advance. Wake up very early to catch the first train. Experience sunrise from the back of Jade mountain.

Very nice Plateform for observe the sunrise. We were able to see the wonderful sunrise yesterday but had to go back to hotel for breakfast. We came here again today and was able to spot the precious mikado pheasant near the Plateform. We saw the male and female couple walking together. We also saw quite a few monkeys. Yesterday, lots of people at the Plateform to watch sunrise and we didn’t spot any social animals, today we went there after the crowds left the spot for watching sunrise, there almost on one around this area and we were able to see so many special animals!

One of the best spot to view the majestic sunrise in alishan. There’s no direct train here as the station is closed, but it’s not too long a walk from the adjacent station. Make sure to be here before sunrise to see the sun slowly rise up from the mountains.

It was definitely worth the effort to walk from Duigaoyue train station to the Zhushan Sunrise Observation Deck to catch the sunrise! We caught the 4.40am train (2nd train to depart) from Alishan station, and reached the Duigaoyue Station in around 30mins. There was sufficient time for us to walk from Duigaoyue Station to the Zhushan Sunrise Observation Deck in time to catch the sunrise. The walk took about 20mins and was a manageable uphill walk. While the Observation Deck was crowded, it was a splendid location to catch the sunrise! No regrets!

Note:
1. Bring your sunglasses along. You'll need them to protect your eyes when watching the sunrise!

2. The new Zhushan train station has been built but is only estimated to open end 2023. In future, visitors will be able to take the train directly to the Zhushan Sunrise Observation Deck when the station opens.

We left for sunrise at 4.20am via e-shuttle bus from hotel area straight to Zhusan. Another option was 4.50am, i seriously recommend to take 4.20am if you want to hike a bit more to mount Ogasawara. Book a day before. Where else Train brings you only till Duegaoyue only. You can get ginger tea at Zhushan for 40NTD. Depends on your luck to see sunrise.

Breathtaking view. A little crowded, but definitely worth waking up at 3:20. The train from Alishan drop you off at Duiguanyue, and you have to walk further uphill a little more than 1km. So if you don’t want to walk there, take the bus instead of the train. However, if you want to take the train, the tickets sale start at 13:00-16:00 the day before at the Alishan station. Booking is recommended.

gorgeous sunrise, woke at 3 AM. Didn’t see sea of clouds 雲海，but that depends on the weather. Very cold, definitely layer up.

It is the entrance to Mt. Okazagawa deck view, about 10 mins from here. Also, good view to chase the sunrise.

This is THE spot to see the famous sunrise in Alisan. It was cold for the end of December, about 4 degrees C but well worth it. I can finally check that off my bucket list.

Make sure to purchase the train ticket the day before staring around 2pm. The precise sunrise time will announce around 430pm and the time of the first train, at the station or the hotels you're staying at. The train ride will take about 30 minutes. It will be packed even for a Tuesday. So check the first train time and be there an hour before for the first departure.

Our sunrise was off by 5 minutes later but still we got to see it with our own eyes. Pictures don't do justice, we never seen the sun that clear, bright, and vibrant, full of golden rays. Everyone was in awe.

If you have purchase the return ticket, then the train will take you back to the Alisan station, or you can slowly trek back, about an hour. There is another observation deck not far from this one so you have to choose which one you prefer to see. This is the most popular spot, right off the Zhusan station. The station also has some vendors selling hot drinks and snacks for you while waiting for the sun to come up.

Overall it was awesome, a must see, and nothing else matters.

Twenty years ago, my first visit at Ali mountain did not have any luck to watch the sunrise. Last year, went with my schoolmates to revisit again. This time fully enjoyed the awesome time of amazing, magnificent Ali Mountain sunrise. It’s one of must do activities in our life time.

You have to be here before 6.00AM to witness the sunrise. Usually people take the earliest train from Alishan station around 4.30AM & reach to Zhushan station in about 30 minutes.
There are many people here so make sure you got a good spot to snap the photo or video.
And be sure to wear sunglasses as the sun light is incredibly bright just after it rises from Yushan mountain.

Great place to view Sunrise. Prepare to wake up early in the morning and take the train to go up to the observation platform.

16th best sunrise in the world. Came here by train in early morning around 4am. Local tour guide explain about the history of zhushan & suggest the best location to capture best sunrise. Unfortunately, there is no translator to translate it into English. Experienced the 'hopping' sun rising in just a few minutes. #Sunrise at 5.25am

We saw the sun rise above the Yushan peak. A lot of people but not crowded. There's also some food vendors nearby.

Took the train at a bit passed 5:00 AM to catch a glimpse of the sun rising above the horizon, a mere seven second occurrence which was very memorable

Very worth a visit if the weather is good. We woke up at 5am to catch the 5.30 shuttle bus from Alishan house -> 6am train to zhushan -> sunrise at 6.54am. The observation area itself has food and drink stalls and even a local guide to explain the history and best spots on the deck. We then took the return train and were back by 8am.

Great trip if you can wake up.
