If you're into nature and hiking, this is a must visit when in Taiwan. Aside from train, you can reach Alishan by bus from Taipei Bus station. We took a night trip (9:30pm local time) and arrived around 3am. From Alishan bus terminal, it will only take 3-5 mins walk to the entrance. Pay only 100 NTD entrance fee when you present your bus ticket.

Beautiful temple with the Alishan park, worth the visit, not just because of the location, the atmosphere is also rather special. Check out the shrine behind the temple.

Beautiful temple, powerful amulet. Ask staff and they will tell you what to do. Not commercial at all, a sense of connect to the divine.
