Lovely place to view the sunset. This place is a work of art in nature. The reef of full of life with lots of tiny sea creatures. Wonderful ocean breeze while you sit and relax. Great place to visit on a evening just before sunset

So great a place you have to visit due to the great weather and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend. I just enjoy the rally marathon along the sea road and stopped by here to appraise the stone tunnel. The stairs can take you up to the top to view the big ocean.

What a beautiful spot to come and enjoy the sea. Great for kids to explore nature as there are some fish and crab in the shallow area. Love this spot

One of the beautiful landmark that one should visit along the northern coast. Unique cave stone formation. The beach is covered with seashelf, managed to picked some pretty seashelf. Further down the beach, there are some green reef.

Nice and beautiful sea view. You can also visit a white bridge (lover bridge) at right hand side of shimendong and can up to the bridge if the tide is ebb. For shimentong itself, it can climb to the top and view is really stunning too. Really likes this place and will definitely come here again.

Way back 2016.. I’ve been travelling by myself for a holiday for the first time.. and this place amaze me so much... its a cave open cave and the view from the the open to the ocean is superb like you can say how beautiful world is.. its just amazing..

You can take stairs to the top of the arch and have a great view! On the ocean side there is a little beach and rocks to climb on. There were a few fishermen out there catching some cool stuff. This is a pretty rocky and shelly beach so not great for a long beach stay but definitely is nice and relaxing.

Good place for family and small kids. Can bring tent or beach umbrella as resting station. Water shallow and safe for kids; bring nets to catch little fish and crabs, also hermit crabs galore. Has bathroom and wash place nearby as well as (paid) parking.

Great place to relax and for the kids to play around...sand is made up pf parts of little stones and shells so need to wear shoes but good part is no like other beaches the sand is easily cleaned off.

A natural coastline sea-view platform on the north-coastal line of Taiwan. The main scenery of Shimen Cave Scenic Area is the sea cave , also known as the sea arch .
About ten meters high, it is a cave caused by long-term seawater and weathering erosion. Later, due to the rising of the crust, the sea caves did not continue to be scoured by seawater. There is also a step walk next to Shimen Cave, you can go up to the viewing platform on the second floor to enjoy the sea view. There is a parking lot nearby for people to park and enjoy the Shimen Sea Cave.

It is not very far from Taipei, scenery is amazing, especially if you could catch the moment of sunset :)

very beautiful place. I went there on a rainy day so I couldn't take some bright and colorful pictures. But I had the place all for me because no one else was there.

Take the shuttle bus from Tamsui Station to C7 (Shimen Arch). Cross the road and that is it. Super easy to find this place and it is pretty cool. The arch is great, but if you pass under it, turn right and keep going, you will see this white brigde and another temple.
Recommend: look in the tide pools for some sea creatures (lots of crabs!)
⚠Rocks are slippery, so go slow and be careful. Watch the tide and waves splashing up.

It's beautiful natural cave and awesome sea views.

We knew this wonderful scenery spot from the day we moved to Taiwan but only sometime ago stopped for a walk around there. And it was awesome. This Stone Gate is absolutely natural and was forming more than 1 mln years from the time of local Datun Volcanic Group eruptions. Thousands years of corrosion, earthquakes, typhoons and thats it. Kids can surely have fun here as there are many tiny crabs in the water hiding in shells plus sea-stars etc. Sunset view is fantastic especially when you can see airplanes passing above preparing for landing. Super place to visit.
