I really enjoyed this historic location between Tamsui and Fisherman's Wharf in Taipei. Restoration work is continuing and it's great to see this piece of history being preserved. I learned a lot more today about the history of attempted colonial invasions in Taiwan. Well worth the visit.

Probably the key landmark of Tamsui and testimony of its strategic position throughout the history. The Spanish fort, which in fact did not survive, Dutch fort which was altered by British and British consulate were all established at the same place. With the same ticket you will be able to visit other attractions as well.

Free for locals, but not expensive at all even for tourists. We got our tickets via Klook. Just a short walk up the hill to reach the fort. Interesting place to spend some time. Recommended!

Fascinating insights into Taiwan's colonial past. Well preserved examples of architecture. It's a long way from Taipei by MRT, but worth it when combined with Fort Hobe and other local attractions

The historical site on hill beside the old street, featured by this red bricks and appeaarance. Famous for being one of oldest building in Taiwan, it is open to the public for a paid visit, and New Taipei Chity's citizens have free admission. The building is not big at all, so it is sometimes crowded when tourists flow in. The location of the fort is excellent that one can see the harbour afar from the hill. The former British consul house is right behind the fort. Furniture and stuff are neatly displayed so that visitors can see the scene from the 17th century! The trail in the back leads to a private college here, and the route is clearly indicated. This is nice attraction to see in the district, a cool place to know the early development of the island.

Wonderfully preserved building standing in well maintained grounds looking over Tamsui river and the mountains of Guaninshan and Bali. A lovely historic building, well worth the visit. Local parking is available but limited so visiting in the week is easier if parking. Nearby lots are available but fill quickly when the weather is good at the weekend. Mrt is a good choice with a walk along the river to reach the fort. Plenty of nearby food options. Great views and a great story of this historic building.

This is a good a Fort with an interesting history. It started as a Spanish fort, was later a Dutch Fort and then was also leased as a British consulate. It overlooks the Tamsui river with some beautiful spots. It’s a small admission price of 80 NTD to get in and that also includes admission to 2 other places - The Little White House and Hobe Fort. Beautiful grounds and a nice place to visit.

Cute little fort with a British consulate building. Sitting on top of a hill, this is one of most nicely presented historic spots I’ve been to in Taiwan. It’s also a nice contrast to the bustle of the main water front and just a short walk away.

The striking fort is full of explanations and information in English and Chinese.
Next to it sits the Victorian consulate building, designed in a colonial style used in India. Each room is decorated as it would have been in when the British occupied it. It’s a great place to learn about the complex history between the two countries and well worth a visit for any history buff.

The capacity of each building is currently limited to 40 people so I recommend avoiding busy holiday.

Fascinating old building on the hillside looking down over Tamsui river. Once occupied as the British consulate and now a tourist location to see how life once was. The ex residence is built in a Portuguese style and features decorations from Europe and the UK along with some example clothing from the period and wonderful photos, although I can’t imagine how people played tennis wearing so much of the heat was the same as today. There is nearby parking and access from the MRT needs a 15minute walk from the station but offers great views along the river. Entrance for residents of Tamsui is free although even with the entry cost it’s well worth the trip for the views and stunning grounds.

A British Consulate worth visiting in Tamsui! It was established over 100years as history cites, sitting on top of a small hill overlooking the wharf & river mouth.
genuine archives are displayed in the area and the building itself. It isn't a very big compound therefore very easy to mingle through. Admissions are free for local students with valid student ID however $80 is charged for foreingers.

Fantastic historical building, so the tour guide told us this is a Netherlands style architect with 100+ years of history.

We had fun browsing in the building ( not going to lie, partially due to the air conditioner), and love the variety mix of both western and eastern culture

Get to know more about the history of northern Taiwan which is where Tamsui or Fort Domingo is. You will learn that the Spanish and Dutch once came to this island and set up their bases. It is interesting to note that they only have much influence in this small vicinity unless the South East Asia. The buildings certainly have touches of colonial period feel and there are many good exhibits. One area shows the rooms where the governor once lived and it was interesting to see their bed and dining table. It is a 30 minutes walk for adults but with children and elderly, you will need 1 hour and 30 minutes.

It's free for locals so don't forget to bring your ID! Otherwise the ticket cost $80, which is worth it.
Honestly the architecture and the garden around the fort is the most interesting part. The inside of the Ford is not very exciting but it is a very important place to understand more about Taiwanese history If you like to learn about history.

As the name suggests, this location was named by the Spanish that occupied the area during the period of exploration. It became better known as the home of the British Consulate on Taiwan, but it happily shares its history of the various nations that have had a presence there.
It has been well restored and certainly worth a walk though. The displays date back to the British era so the feel is of its heyday as a British colonial outpost.
