Lanyang Museum

If you like unique architecture, this is a must go. One look and you can guess where the architect took the inspiration from. Get ready your 0.5 mobile cam, 16-24mm (35mm equivalent) for the photogs.
Who knows, you may find a museum staff who's stationed to take photos for you.

On Sunday I came here out of curiosity about this place and it's so worth it spending time in here, the places, the artifacts, everything was so perfect in this museum. The worker at the first gate are very nice she inform me about the ticket counter and also the one worker who checked the tickets was very humble and kind, he offered to help me to take pictures. Such a lovely journey to come here.

A real gem, not only its architecture is worth the visit but the exhibition itself is stunning ! From the historical department to the one related to science and nature, there is plenty to learn from and marvel at. I adored the temporary drawing nature exhibition as well. All in all, a museum not to miss if you pass by Yilan !

We visited here back in the November 2019. It was such a nice place to visit with all 3 generations. The architecture is really nice outside and the museum was interesting for the kids. We all had a good time.

Architecturally beautiful museum with numerous exhibits related to Yilan. Absolutely breathtaking visually, and a must see when visiting Yilan. The exhibits are very educational, and extremely well done. Well worth the time spent, and especially good for children. Many photo opportunities as well, and the views from the museum are excellent.

A very nice museum to learn about the flora of Taiwan and the Kavalan Tribe who used to reside in the area. Guess u know how the famous Kavalan Whisky gets the name… great museum to go to to read up and spend an idyllic afternoon!

The design amazed us. Love from the outlibe shape to the details of finishing stones. If you love architecture. This is for you.

Great place for children learning science and Taiwanese history. Lots of interactive activities and hands on learning exercises.

Loved the sheer size of the museum and how much care it was put into the exhibitions. Great for English speaking visitors also.

Excellent destination for a day trip - the museum is also explaining most of their exhibits in English.
The permanent exhibition of the museum has 4 floors - one floor about geology, one for agriculture, one for the ocean/ fishing culture and the last floor shows the history regarding Yilan (in the last part not everything was explained in English).
The non permanent exhibition “drawing nature” got also our special attention - very beautifully displayed!
We are very thankful for spending a nice day there!

Wonderful museum filled with interesting and visually beautiful exhibits. Very unique displays and sets with cultural information about the area. The building is a masterpiece in itself. Today it was very hot on the fourth floor, but the other floors were cool enough. There is a gift shop and good-sized cafe on the first floor. The parking lot is large but a little walk from the museum.

A wonderful building and really interesting displays with English translation for most of them. Some craft opportunities, a gift shop and a coffee shop. We went on a cloudy Saturday morning and it was not too busy. Great for families, couples and singles.

The museum displays the history and geographic location of Lanyang Plain. The museum admission is reasonable. It is free for Yilan residents and NTD100 for outsiders.The offered interactive activities are great but with extra charges. I wish it's included in the regular admission ticket. The courtyard of the museum is beautiful and the lake brings livelihood to the museum. From the top floor of the museum, the view of the Guishan Island is clear on sunny day. Beautiful view!

A picturesque building contains an interesting exhibition of the natural, people and development of Yilan county.

Beautiful museum. Outside architect is made from colored glass. The slop of the building is an amazing work, respect to the architecture 😍😍 There're many exhibition themes, free admission. It's worth visiting when you come to Yilan.

Not only the building is special but also exhibitions for local history is great. It is located near a harbor and very close to sea. The whole structure is definitely a masterpiece; If you stop by in summer , you need prepare to suffer the heat because there are no big trees there with this new construction museum.

The architecture of museum is very great. When i came here, there was a performance of traditional dance. We could explore history of Yilan and Taiwan in here.
