Dongdamen Night Market

Many many stalls ranging from food to games and apparels. Best place to try out all of the different types of Taiwanese food! On 28th Feb evening, we were lucky enough to catch some fireworks from the nearby Lantern Festival event! Post dinner we took a short 10mins walk to the nearby Lantern Festival, was a really nice light lantern display!

My family and I enjoyed this night market very much. Open place, well set up and enough rooms for people walking around. Didn't get too stressed about getting pushed by others. We all got chances to see most of the stalls. Love it

Really vibrant market and it was very clean, compared to other markets I have been to.

Best to go after 7pm as most vendors are opened by then.

Absolutely loved this night market! We went extremely early (basically when the night market opened), lots of food stalls and lots of games! This place is beautiful! I would highly recommend this night market to anyone!

This night market is exceptional! Located within a vast park, it boasts a wide variety of stalls offering diverse cuisines. Spacious alleys ensure a comfortable visit without overcrowding. Live music adds to the vibrant atmosphere, while ample seating and clean facilities make it a fantastic experience.

i hate crowds and this place made eating on the street less stressful as it wasn't crowded. many options to choose from. a few of my favourites were roast corn, stinky tofu with basil (must try!), fried mushrooms!

Spacious night market - really appreciated how there was plenty of space allocated for the walkway so we didn’t have to squeeze or be pushed along by the crowd. Good variety of Taiwanese and aboriginal food as well. However quite a few stalls were not open when we visited on a weekday evening.

The night market is huge. So many place to eats taiwanese food. And also to having fun. The taste also delicious

I like this night market so much. This night market has a large space as the part of large park. It's a lot of stall here with so many kind of food from different theme. There are several wide alleys so that visitors can enjoy this night market without being too crowded.

One of my favourite night market, a few live bands playing music at different section of night market, it is well layout with spacious walkway and lots of stalls. Rubbish bins are easily found as well as big sitting areas for dine in (not restricted to the stalls you buy food from). My favourite food was the crispy pancake with egg bomb and favourite drink is papaya milk (check out my pics for the stall I bought from). 2 stalls which I queued for 20 min each - grilled corn and coffin bread, not exactly to my preference but at least I tried.

Dongdamen Night Market (東大門夜市) is known to be the largest one in Hualien. We found this to be more spacious (easier to walk without being pushed around) than the night markets in Taipei, though Dongdamen may not offer as many varieties. Here, there were more eating areas where we could sit comfortably to enjoy our food. For dinner, we had seafood tze char at very affordable price - supplemented by other street food such as scallion pancake 葱油饼, "Coffin Toast" 棺材板, Grilled Squid 烤魷魚 and Roasted corn on the cob 烤玉米.

What a treat this night market is. It has most things from food to traditional games. I had the traditional Taiwanese meal cooked by a tribal family and what a meal that was. Definitely a must visit place when in Haulien

Amazing night market! It's much more organised than the usual night markets in Taipei. The walking space between the shops is a lot bigger so even if it is crowded it is easy to walk around. The food selection is very good, everything that i tried tasted exceptionally! Definitely worth a visit!

Night market with alot off stall and variety of food. Among of one tourist attraction. Mostly chinese food..juices..snacks and games booth.

Really great night market, with everything you could want. There's live music, games, drinks, and of course all the food you could possibly desire. It gets quite busy but that's a sign of quality.

Great market, different to all the others on the west coast, as it's not on the street, there's live music and more space.

The taxi driver told me that this is the only night market and some of the stand will close after 9pm but start from 5pm onwards. The venue is bigger than other night markets which is easier for tourists to walk.

I love this night market, it's big but very easy to navigate and find things you like compare to other night markets in Taiwan. I also love the big open space in the center for kids to run around and parking behind the marketplace made it super easy if you want to drive.

Has everything from stinky tofu to crocodile and everything in between. It is clean well laid out with light show and live entertainment. Well worth a visit

Lovely night market with lots of stalls. It’s also so refreshing to have actual footpaths rather than brushing up against motorbikes and cars. So much to choose from, so just enjoy the experience!
