Great food and laid back atmosphere. Great flavors. We advised we liked our food spicy, and the food was perfectly spicy. Not too much that it would make it inedible, but actually perfectly balanced the dishes. Good portion sizes and good prices. Would definitely visit again.

Originally had planned to go to a Mexican next door and came across the restaurant which was next door, I had never tried African food before, so I decided to give it a go.

Ended up having the chicken BBQ and couscous.
Delighted I came, fantastic food and the owner was lovely.

Love this place! Super amazing atmosphere and delicious food! Highly recommend this place! The owner Bony is a wonderful person and shares his tradition and love from his country with the costumers! :) We had the best night there with live music, laughter and good drinks! They even got me to play guitar and sing :)

Bony is not only an awesome host but an incredible chef and server! His passion for his country and its cuisine shines a beautiful light on the ivory coast. The west African peanut curry is fantastic! The vegetable soup is a great compliment. Perfect end to a day in the Taroko gorge soaking in hot springs. Thank you so much Bony! We found this place by chance while they were having a music jam in the evening. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, by a seasoned food snob and vegetarian.

The couscous taste so great, personal recommend beef couscous 🤤 The boss/chef ,Bony, is a very nice person. You can see lots of African art decorations in the restaurant, also there's a TV showing Taiwanese and African songs. When you're waiting for meals, you can play the instruments beside 😁😁

So glad we tried Africa. It was our first time eating Ivory Coast cuisine and it did not disappoint. We had bbq plantains, couscous with veggies and couscous with peanut sauce. Everything was so flavorful. The decor is colorful and the atmosphere is laid back. The owner is super friendly. Give it a try.

My first African food experience! A menagerie of spicy, sour and savoury flavours, each mouthful was both surprising and comforting. Particularly enjoyed the homemade coconut ice cream! Decadent yet somehow refreshing. The owner has a wonderful demeanour and compelling story. Definitely pay Africa a visit if you're ever in Hualien!

Friendly owner, beautiful waitress, and pretty good food. It's a shame they don't get as much business as the Mexican place across the street.
I ordered the peanut soup with couscous and some tamarind juice. It was decent food, but you might want to order it spicy. If you're like me, you'll need extra spice.

A suggestion to the owner: the peanut soup was a bit too salty for my taste, and I wanted real ground peanuts in it. See you in a few months!

I ate lunch here after a 2 day cycle from Taitung. I had the couscous with beef in a slightly peanut sauce. The drinks are also super refreshing. The owner was also very accomodating as I arrived just before closing time. Great food that I wish I could eat every day. Highly recommended when you're in Hualien!!

owner personally prepared a savory memorable tasty first time african lunch for our family. we had bbq beef, fried rice that is with rice done just right balancing texture while not being too hard, coucous ground wheat with chicken, and a special vegetable soup that had a secret flavorful taste. all dishes had balanced mix of vegetables. it's good to have something different yet with an appealing taste. decor is colorful with ivory coast flag.

Owner/chef guy is friendly, warm, genuine. A details guy - you can see in the decor, food, and how he prepares the table - with deliberate care and passion. His food is amazing, and you should trust him when he asks you “are you sure you want normal spicy” cuz it’s deadly, in a good way, so I say take it with “just a little spicy” so you can breathe through your meal. A lot of things are home made, coconut ice cream, spicy sauce, etc. couscous is amazing with peanut sauce. 100% recommend, writing this makes me drool!

What an amazing place in Hualien. The food is so lovely. Great attention to detail. The peanut with couscous is wonderful. The fried rice is unlike any other and so delicious. Do not miss Bony-Lee's!
