We decided to drop by Taroko Motorcycle Rental as it has many good reviews! And it was right! We have a seamlessly fuss-free and amazing experience! The boss was very friendly, upon arrival, he greeted with a genuinely nice smile and guided us to choose the motorcycle based on our needs and requirements. The prices here vary on the type of motorcycle you choose. We were given an option from NT650-NT750 (per day) and we chose the latter due to the size and colour of it. The boss explained the rules and regulations in Taiwan very detailed and even shared with us the spots for photo-taking in Taroko! (Do let him know if you're heading there) and places to park the vehicle etc. Overall, I would recommend this shop for motorcycle rental and will be back again in the future!
Operating hours are 0800hours - 2200hours.
P.S. Look out for the TOTO building for easy navigation to the shop!

Highly recommend this bike rental company, very professional and helpful. The bosses are friendly and they go above and beyond to guide us on Taiwan traffic rules and recommend route in Taroko. The procedure is hassle-free, just provide your international license ID, passport and cash. It’s definitely a legit 5 stars google review from everyone. 👍

Great service. Sum went through everything with me from hiring which scooter and their differences, how to obey the road rules (he even has reference videos and photos so you can understand better) to navigating the beautiful Taroko National Park. The scooters even come with rain ponchos just in case and lucky because it eventually started raining briefly whilst i was in Taroko. Highly recommend them as a foreigner as Sum can speak english enough to get you on your way.

Outstanding experience.
It’s a family-owned business run by kind, helpful and professional people. We hired a scooter and traveled to Taroko gorge, Liyu Lake and Kenting beach. The scooter worked flawlessly and the owner explained to us how to drive safely (what the different steeet signs meant, where to park, etc.) it was affordable and friendly. Highly recommended!

Sum (the owner) is such a kind man. He lend me a jacket when he heard I forgot mine. Price is fair and, even better, he gives really good advice to an extend which helped us have an incredible day at Taroko National Park. I heartly recommend renting at this company.

Would highly recommend renting a scooter from Taroko Motorcycle if you’re in Hualien. The owner and his son (who speaks English) are super friendly, the scooter was well-maintained, they provide a thorough 30-minute orientation on Taiwan traffic rules, and the storefront is conveniently located a minute away from the train station.

Going rate was 750 NTD for a Yamaha 125cc scooter for 24 hours. Other less expensive scooters were available, but the owner recommended the 125cc model since we were riding 2 up to the top of Taroko Gorge. With 2 of us, there was enough power to keep up with traffic and accelerate uphill on the Gorge.

No international drivers license is required for rental though you will need to leave your credit card information behind in case you incur any automated traffic tickets. I provided a copy of my passport and US motorcycle endorsement but I don’t think the latter is required. Our 24 hour rental came with up to 150 km of mileage and we found it plenty to explore Hualien and Taroko Gorge. You can also extend mileage and time for a small fee. A full tank is provided, and we had the option of filling it up before returning or paying a very reasonable charge (we paid ~150 NTD) to return it with an empty tank. Helmets are provided, and there are new ponchos in the underseat storage that cost 20 NTD to use.

Overall, a well-run scooter rental business with good scooters and excellent service. Super glad we opted to do this over waiting hours for the Taroko Gorge shuttle buses or hiring a taxi for a full day.

The owner was very friendly and immediately called his son, who understood English a little better, as we arrived.
The motorcycles are reliable and the prices are fair.
The whole process only took about 15 Minutes, including learning basic traffic rules for our safety in the streets.

I can highly recommend this place for people who don't speak Chinese! The owner of the shop is very kind and speaks a little bit of English. He took his time to explain things and Google Translate helped for asking questions. In the end we got a scooter for 750 NTD for one day to visit the Taroko national park. The owner even gave us a map with the highlights that we should visit! Visiting Taroko by scooter was an amazing experience. Thanks a lot!

My experience here was superb! The owner and his son were both super friendly and kind — they took the time to run through things that I needed to look out for with regards to Hualien’s traffic situation. Rental process was really straightforward as well, would 10/10 recommend this place to everyone 😄

Thankfully we managed to rent a motorbike with Taroko Rental. The owner gave us a map and introduced various attractions not to be missed. He even took the effort to explain to us on Taiwan's traffic rules in order for us to avoid getting a ticket 😁.

We were able to explore Taroko National Park and the coastline with the aid of the motorbike. Truly love the wonderful experience and we would urge anyone who loves riding to try it.

Brilliant service! Bike was in great condition. Owner is so helpful, explained the best routes to take, road regulation in Taiwan to avoid fines and overall was just incredibly friendly. Definitely recommend renting from this shop if you are in Hualien area

English speaking and very helpful with suggestions for visiting taroko gorge and tips for local driving laws. Provided a map and suggestions for places to park. 600 ntd for the bike but you will need an intl. Drivers license to rent from him

was a great experience considering my limited knowledge of the language. the bikes on offer were in great condition, there was plenty of different helmets to choose from and it came with a full tank of fuel. the man there went above and beyond to explain the road rules of Taiwan and a few things to keep in mind with parking. overall i’d say this is the best place to rent a scooter, had no issues and only compliments to give. ✅⛓🥰

Excellent experience. Great communication. Shop owner speaks English and it was very easy to rent a moped for our trip to Taroko Gorge. I rented a Yamaha and it was in great condition. I opted for the extra 100NT coverage for traffic tickets instead of using my credit card. 5 stars. Will rent again from them when I return!

Super friendly and attentive. The shop owner's son can speak English, but the owner can use the app to communicate easily.

I have an IDP, renting a motorbike is quick and easy. Owner showed some traffic rules and kept my credit card informaiton for 3 months (have contract) in case I got fined.

I’ve been renting motorbikes in Asia for 10 years and this was my best experience. 10 STARS!

Sum made it VERY easy to rent, gave me important details on traffic laws locally, gave me a great tour of the bike, tips for Naroko Gorge National Park, and even found me a really nice hotel on a busy New Years weekend.

Add to that his family was super sweet and I can’t recommend it more.
