Awesome huge tree, they named it sacred tree as it ages 2300 years, it is glad to see this tree still remain in the forest.
It is the largest tree in the park I guess.
It was nice being here to witness the tree buy

Huge ancient tree. It says that the tree is 2300 years old. The tree is 45 meters tall and 12.3 wide. It is incredible.

阿里山香林神木，站在他的腳邊就能夠感覺到自己的渺小，但是他還不是台灣前十大的神木。位於慈雲寺及香林國小旁，樹高45公尺，樹高直徑4.1公尺，新推估最大主幹樹齡626年，海拔2207公尺。是阿里山最大巨木之一。

第一代神木於1956年秋，樹身因遭雷擊逐漸失去生機。樹身上端所植之二代木，為1962年栽種。但遺憾的是1997年7月1日，因大雨而有半邊倒伏。後來林務局為尊重生命，順應自然及維護遊客安全，1998年6月將神木放倒置於原地供人觀賞。

第一代阿里山神木倒伏之後，由嘉義縣政府、阿里山國家風景區管理處籌劃，票選出遊樂區內其他巨型神木，以為新旅遊地標。網路票選活動在2006年9到11月間進行，有2萬5千人參加投票，由光武檜得到最高票，成為阿里山第二代神木，2007年1月改為「阿里山香林神木」。
