Shan Bin Restaurant

We came here for 2 nights and food was good/best in the area. Service depends on each person but ok.

For us, soup probably isn't the best, but other than that, wild boar, shrimp, chicken are all good.

Atmosphere is good, but could get quite crowded on the weekend. Will consider to come back again in the future if we come again.

I had an exceptional dining experience at Shan Bin Restaurant that I have to share. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Despite arriving 45 minutes before their next opening hours, the staff noticed we were cold and hungry, and they kindly offered us a table to enjoy our meal. What stood out was their willingness to accommodate our needs. The service crew recommended their set meal, initially designed for larger groups. However, they were happy to reduce the portion and even offered us a discount. This level of flexibility and hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued as customers. The food at Shan Bin Restaurant was equally impressive. The grilled chicken was succulent and full of flavour, the fried mushrooms were perfectly crispy and delicious, and the hot pot soup was a comforting and warming treat, especially on a cold day.

The owner of the restaurant is very accommodating and kind. We were there during their afternoon break and yet still serve us.

The boss recommended that we order one of their set meals, which consists of most of the recommended dishes.

I told the boss that some of us don't eat much and we worried can't finish all the food. He then said no worried, he could custom the dishes and make it smaller potions and charge me cheaper 😏 😉 🫠.

The set meal comes with :

1 x Hotstone pot with meat, seafood, and vegetables (lots of items)
1 x high mountain steam fish
1 x Fried bamboo shoot
1 x Deep fried mushrooms
1 x Fried wild pork
1 x Fried cabbage
1 x Fried spring chicken
1 x Free bottle of beverage
1 x Fried Yum ball dessert

All the food tastes good 👍, especially the hotpot soup when you drank it during cold weather 😋.

For the steamfish, it is subjective. Most of the fish dishes served in TW are farmed fish, which has some "mud" taste, but the source was very nice.

Nice restaurant and willing to take us before their business hour. Two dishes were ok and the other two dishes tasted good. Food are fresh!

9/14/2023 update: we ordered 4 dishes today at 5 minutes before end of their lunch time. Those 4 dishes are wonderful!

Overall food taste is good and we ordered the hot stone hotpot in small portion, it turns out quite a big portion. Good value and generous in food size, the worker are all friendly and polite too.

The place is warm and cosy, despite temperature outside 12degrees. We were greeted and order taken. The food is freshly prepared and portion is big for 2 of us. 4 dishes (fish fillet, braised pork, preserved raddish with fried egg and beancurd) with unique soup (pork and lily). Priced just 480NTD and rice 20NTD.. Food taste fantastic and the service was top class. I would recommend this place.

Great comforting food. The amount is very generous. The people and the boss is extremely kind. We came in drenched and they offered to dry our jackets. Definitely a must come if you are in the area.

Great food, especially the hot pot. Get the set meal that comes with 5 dishes and 1 soup at about 1,200 Taiwan $. Please go for dinner early as the crowd floods in at about 5ish.

好吃，服务也很周到。 Best meal I've had after leaving Tai Chung county for our trip up the mountains. Ordered double fried pork belly with cabbage, kailan and stir fried king oyster mushroom, the food did not disappoint! Extremely well seasoned and tasteful. Highly recommended.

A great cozy little restaurant in Alishan.
We had a set menu for 4 with a stone hotpot.
The food is served very fast which might mean it's just heated up or they're just churning out food nonstop. The staff seemed to be eating the same food during their break so it should be fine.
Regardless, it was tasty enough and great when the weather is cold up here.
Had no issues with the service as well.
We came a little bit past lunchtime so it wasn't too busy.

Very homey restaurant with good good and reasonable price. During dinner time it will have many patrons who need to wait for the table. Please be mindful of the waiting time but so far this is the best spot for dinner and hotpot in Alishan area. Strongly recommend

My family or I enjoy the authentic cuisines at the restaurant every time while staying the Alishan.
I really like the favor of all dish and of course the prise is quite affordable.
The stuff sometimes speak straight but I am sure they're all enthusiastic and kindly.
The restaurant is friendly and welcome for all visits included foreigners and residents.

Was here for two nights. Great food, ambience and most importantly reasonably priced. The stoneware hot pot and fish dishes are their signature dishes. Their other stir fried dishes are good too. It’s a restaurant for two and above as you want to sample, if possible, all of the dishes. You need to wait between 15 to 30 minutes between 5 to 7 pm daily; expect a longer wait on weekends. BTW they played 80s and 90s music—Lionel Richie, Phil Collins, Air Supply and more in the restaurant.

We had wasabi tofu, a simple tasty dish, bamboo shots with little slivers of hot peppers, and the star of the meal was mountain kale lightly stir fried in garlic. Everything was freshly prepared and tasty.

Really great homely and cozy atmosphere, with good food and great service.

Went there my first night, was so comfortable and happy with the food I returned the next night!

Good place to eat at Alishan, the place really crowded at dinner time. Can come a bit earlier before dinner time so no need to queue. Ate there 2x as the food is reasonably price. Enjoy eating the stone hot pot.

The staff (Jiuyuan-not sure I spelled his name correctly) was sooooooo nice and I appreciate his services
Even I was there alone and he keep coming back checking on me to make sure the hot pot is ready
