Mountain hotel Popradské pleso

After reading various kinds of reviews i decided to share my experience. The hut is in the middle of nowhere, you have to walk there for 1h or pay for the transfer. So think AHEAD! Dont get there too late otherwise you walk in the dark. The walk is LOVELY by the way, very manageable with children and baby stroller.

We stayed over night at the hut, the front desk experience was alright, the lady told us all necessary information and she was nice. We were told that kitchen is closing at 10pm and it was monday. We didnt eat that evening, only had some beers and went to sleep. In the room are super comfortable beds, warm duvet and comfy pillow, water in the shower runs hot and on high pressure and there are little toiletries like soap, shower gel, cotton…
You can hear other people walking or talking but that’s fine, it’s a hut.

I was amazed by breakfast, there were so many options to chose from, home-made bread spreads! I really enjoyed. We took a glass of Prosecco and made ourselves mimosas.

We could store our baggage (free of charge) in the drying room after our check-out. Later we returned, had a meal which was good (not like from a Michelin star restaurant but tasty) i had “Sviečková”, my mom had “Buchta na pare” and nobody had any food poisoning, it was tasty and not heavy to digest. We asked about the transfer back to “ Štrbské pleso”, nobody was rude, the opposite, we talked and laughed almost all the way. We payed 10e/pp.

It is a nice warm place where you can meet people from different cities and countries, share stories, drink, talk and laugh and make memories. You find there everything you need after a long hike.

If you expect a polished 5star experience, go to a big city not to the forest.

Came up here with my touring bike, staff was very nice, got a room, security makes sure there's not too much noise after 10pm, there is wifi with 8Mbps down.
I could leave my bike and panniers in the dry room while hiking Rysy. Overall a very nice experience!

You will not find a more romantic vista in the High Tatras - or a more reasonably priced accommodation. We paid just over £30 for a private room and shower. The food was just what we needed after a long long day of hiking in the snow. They accept credit cards for purchases over 5 euro. And that view? Worth every step of our hike!!

After reading the reviews, we were initially apprehensive about staying at this hotel. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service we received throughout our stay. Everything went smoothly. The food provided was also delightful. Based on our experience, we would not hesitate to choose this hotel again in the future.

One of the most beautiful places we stayed during our holiday. We had a room with view on the lake. You can walk a small round around the lake, the views are stunning. The place is very touristic during the day, but if you sleep here, you can walk the round nearly alone after dinner, which makes it so much more special. Food at the restaurant is very good. A very good place to stay when you are planning to hike up Rysy. We could leave some of our stuff at the hotel when we went to climb Rysy, we could pick them up on the way down before walking towards our car.

Set in a stunning location and perfect if hiking to Rysmy or reverse direction. While the rooms are basic they are warm and there is plenty of hot water. The kitchen has an excellent menu and the food superb at very reasonable prices. Also has a drying room for when you get caught in a storm and arrived drenched. Staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. This place gets busy at lunch time with day trippers walking the mountains, probably because of the kitchen. Wi-Fi now around the whole building

There was a problem with payment in cafe - I lost 15 eur. But staff made a refund and said sorry

Really amazing, came from Canada there were almost no other foreigners but it was a wonderful stay in an incredible location. Staff were nice and food was really good (had the trout a few times).

Only recommendation for the hotel would be to purchase WIFI Mesh System to extend where wifi is accessible. WIFI right now is only available around the front part of building.

We had good dršťková soup and pirohy with brynza (fresh sheep cheese). They offer wide range of other dishes for reasonable prices and you can also pay by card. They have a nice terrace outside or tables indoor. You can even eat your own lunch on the simple benches by the lake. For guest they offer hot tube and sauna.

Mengusovska valley is one of the largest valleys on the south side of the High Tatras
The valley is bordered by Bast and Popradsky Ridge. The valley is closed off by a part of the main Tatran ridge from Čubrina to Rysy.
Popradské pleso is one of the most visited spots in High Tatras and a starting point for many popular hikes including to Rysy and Kôprovský štít. Near to the lake there is Symbolic Cemetery, built in a memory of the victims of the High Tatras.

this is a great place to visit in high Tatra mountains. easy to acces by anyone and great price for quality ratio. the food over there is made of local ingredainces and the chef knows how to cook for sure. you can also try hot bath outside while watching the snow covering the top of the mountain and a sauna.

Wonderful place to stay at as a trekker, mountaineer, or skier. Marek, the receptionist was very helpful and speaks good english! The food is really good too! Recommended for backpackers and trekkers, awesome starting place for some great hikes in the Tatras!

Beautiful refuge in a stunning, take-your-breath-away setting. Great place to reconnect with nature. Rooms are really clean, slept like a baby after hiking the whole day.

A great place to spend some time. There are several hiking tracks and you are guaranteed to have a quality room and food after you get down from the mountain. Even though the place is big it still has a soul of a mountain hut.

One of my favorite houses. Plenty of places to go from here in summer as in winter too. Easy accessible. Nice and cosy rooms. The matratzlager is a as good as the rooms.

I heartily recommend the restaurant in this hotel. Everything was very tasty and the portions solid for a relatively low price considering the location of the place.

true climbing and moutaineering atmosphere. best to start treks and climbing tours. some rooms may have occasionaly bedbugs, but you must count with that.

Really great base camp surrounded by lots of amazing views and walks. Food is very good, and rooms were very clean and tidy. Would recommend.
