Very nice place in all seasons, there are 2 cottages nearby to visit if you want to eat something or just enjoy a cup of tea :)

Definitely heaven on this earth even though it can be a bit crowded at times, but I still love it! Every time i visit High Tatras i visit this lake too.

Stunning lake, with restaurant and facilities next to it.

A few walkways to go through the local areas.

Beautiful walk to Popradske Pleso from Strbske Pleso. Walk is around 1,5h, not difficult. Recommend, its worth it.

Short winter holiday, stayed at the Chalet at the lake (good food, clean amenities). Exciting hike to Ostrovou peak (1984m). In winter almost all hiking roots are closed, using ice cramps are highly recommended.

Beautiful place both in summer and in winter!!!
Definitely worth to see it!
You can get there by forest path along the Poprad river (about 1.5-2 hours from Strbske pleso) or in a simpler way by asphalt road (about 40-60 minutes from Popradske pleso station). Both ways are not complicated, so even small children can do that. There is a hotel and restaurant at the lake, so you can take a rest and admire the beautiful landscapes. All the trip will take about 4 hours.

One of my favourite places to hike to and I'll always recommend it to anyone that visits Slovakia and wants to see the mountains.

Great alternative for polish Morskie Oko, much less crowded and also shorter hike. Great restaurants where you can rest and grab something to eat and drink. The best thing is that dogs are welcomed:)

Very scenic, beautiful hike. The hike is a little harder at the start and at the end, but really easy in the middle. Went there with simple sneakers, not hikers shoes, and the road was really good and fun to hike on!

In our opinion, the journey itself is more scenic than the lake itself. Morksie Oko definifely has a better view of the lake.

Absolute stunning and picturesque lake. Great to reach from Strbske Pleso. Combined it with Ostrva for our hike

The best thing about Slovakia - Tatra mountains. Huge amount of variety of peaks to climb up on.

Beautiful lake, reachable from strbske pleso by foot (around 1h30-1h45 one way for non Slovak, or if you’re not in Olympic shape). Then I recommend going to Ostrva by the red hiking path, the way up should be between 2 and 3h but the views during the hike and at the end are really great! So do plan a whole day for hiking from strbske pleso to ostrva. Start early (around 8am parked in SP) to be able to enjoy the whole day!

What a gorgeous place! There are 2 different walks up, one is easier than the other, and not very well signposted unfortunately. I would say that the walking times listed are probably catered to more serious hikers, so I would allow more time for fair weather walkers, and those with children, pets etc.

A beautiful mountain lake in the Tatras. We reached it via a well marked, red trail from Strbske Pleso. The trail sometimes goes up, sometimes down, and about halfway the beautiful views start. The lake is a good starting point if you wish to go higher to the mountains, for example to the Osterva pass or to mount Rysy.

There is a mountain refuge by the lake, we ate a cabbage soup (kapustova polievka) for 3,90 EUR, and had a Kofola drink and a Saris beer. Payment was only in cash. The toilets were 0,50 EUR, so ensure to have some coins with you.

There is a yellow marked trail around the lake, it takes approximately 30 minutes to walk around, the path is easy and the views are great. About halfway, the trail splits and you can get to the Tatra symbolic cemetery with picturesque, colourful crosses and memorials of people who lost their lives in the mountains.
