Restaurante O Tapassol

A minute walk from Dorisol Buganvilia.

I came here twice for lunch during my one week stay in Madeira. I came a second time for two reasons.

First, the staff were very friendly, professional and attentive.

Second, the food was of high quality and had lots of flavour. I ordered the Espetada on my first visit and had the grilled cuttlefish on my second visit. The fish soup is also excellent.

Delicious food, great service! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is around. Steak was on point, and the pepper sauce is just delicious 🤤

Excellent food with great staff that takes extra good care that you enjoy the meal. Fresh tuna steak and excellent garlic bread for appetizers. All compliments to the cook and the staff.

Stopped in for coffee /tea this morning. Coffee, service and prices good. Nice place. Big improvement over the snack bar that was here before. The restaurant has been here about 8 months. Prices & food look good and it’s recommended by locals. Will eat here soon.

Gorgeous experience at this restaurant , so much so we had to go back a second time during our stay. Staff were really friendly and food was amazing. Whilst it is a little off the main strip it is absolutely worth it!

Went here twice during our stay at Madeira. First we had the chicken and veggy couscous, these were both amazing. Second time we had the shrimp curry and octopus, never seen such a portion of octopus for a very good price. If you are near this place, make sure to visit either for a drink or amazing meal!

Very pleasant staff. 2 fish dishes cooked to perfection. Flambé desert made at the table expertly. Fantastic value.

We ate twice at this restaurant during our 4 night stay in Funchal. The bolo do caco in particular was spectacular! For dessert, we had strawberries flambèd at out table by the waiter. The staff are superb, very helpful and happy to share additional details on the menu. We cannot recommend this place highly enough!

We had mussels, risotto, tuna steak and flammed strawberries for dessert. Everything was on point and really delicious. The service was really good and the prices were fair.

The staff were very nice. We had to change our order a couple of times and the waitress was very accommodating and friendly throughout. The food was nice, although the portions weren’t amazing. It is however a touristy section of Funchal so it was probably fair given the price and hence didn’t affect my rating.
The one qualm was the size of the bolo do caco. I had no problem with it being very small (as it was very cheap), but this should have been made clear on the menu. I think if not stated you would expect a ‘standard’ size and be disappointed when they bring you this (see picture)

Best chicken i ate! 5 star chef and service.

We ate twice at this restaurant and everytime we ate very very good. We ate the traditional beef and sea foods and everyone loved it.
The staff are very friendly and they love to socialize with you.

Visited the tappasol which is at the back of the views monumental , do not miss out on this place , fantastic food , great atmosphere , great service and fab value for money , if you are in the area go here it will not disappoint

Amazing food and very good prices, the beef skewers are excellent. We enjoyed it so much that we went back to it the following evening.

We had a really great Madeiran food experience, try it, you won’t be disappointed

Really excellent pizza. Has half of one plus salad (that alternative on the menu) and it really was yummy! I am very fussy, Pizza is my twice a year treat but will go back before our holiday over. My partner had a whole 4 cheeses Pizza and said the same. Service

good and friendly too.
