Calheta Beach

Best beach for me in Madeira. It's peaceful outside the city and not much crowd as we went on off season. Nearby u get loads of good restaurants to have meals. Sandy beach not deep and very much child friendly. Water was little cold some days but u can have a swim.

This place is simply wonderful with a kids playground nearby and just in front there's a beach. The kids playground is very neat and play toys r well-maintained. It's free by the way to use the kids playground.

Calheta beach has 2 great sandy beaches at either end and with lots of facility's. Is a great spot for a day in the sunshine.

A nice sheltered from waves beach with a couple places for snacks on beach.

Do not park across street above it as it's not public. They will ticket you

Beautiful white beach and enclosed swimming area. Quiet. Great Cafe. I just loved it there.

In my opinion by far the best beach on Madeira. It has sand on the beach and inside the sea, cheap sunbeds (2 EUR) and lots of nearby parking spots (paid). You can also park a bit up the hill for free.

Safe for child to play in the water and do a little snorkelling to see the fishes. Facilities such as toilets, shower, playground and bars available. Fairly reasonable price. To recommend!

Clean, soft sand, cheap enough sunbeds and umbrellas. Supermarket close by. Showers and Toilets also available. Great location f sunset.

The best sand beach in Madeira! For only €5 you can hire two sun loungers and umbrella. There are also many restaurants and bars around as well as couple toilets alongside beach.

The best spot to be

One of the best beaches on the island if you're looking for a calm swim and softer golden sand. There are other sandy beaches, but they have waves most of the time and currents. This beach is great for kids, families and a nice, calm swim.

Nice two ended man made beach. The brake walls make it easy swimming and entry is free unless you wish to hire sun-beds. Lots and of clean toilets and a café at either end, both reasonably priced. Parking: blue bays and lines mean you must pay and display a ticket. Yellow lines are free all day. We managed to find a lay-by under the cliff that had its blue lines removed and so was free (checked with a local) plenty of blue bay parking but limited yellow and free spaces.

One of the most beautiful beaches of Madeira. Two beaches facing each other, and a lot of activities close by, including bungee jumping. Definitely a place worth visit to relax and have a chill day on Madeira.

Water was warmer than expected in early December and quite pleasant for swimming

The lake can be viewed from the side of the road, a very beautiful landscape
