The garden is heavenly. Peaceful and serene. Get there early to have it more to yourself. Stunning landscape with waterfall, ponds and gurgling water. Hundreds of types of vegetation. The palace itself is also beautiful. Much of it is from restoration and not original but stunning nonetheless

Wow. What a beautiful palace! This Moorish palace has beautiful carving that are very intricate and ornate. If you visit Sinatra, this is something you shouldn't miss. It's a bit further out compared to the other more popular places, so it's best to just take a taxi here. It's very different in its architectural style. Best thing is that it's not so crowded, because it's less well known and harder to get to. The Palace is not very big and has a museum exhibiting it's history, but the surrounding park and garden is quite large.

Beautiful castle - Ornate 19th-century mansion with Moorish, Gothic & Indian influences, set in botanical gardens.
Definitely a place to visit, beautiful and interesting interiors, richly decorated and very stylish. Visited 1h before closing time andnit was perfect, no other visitors which made for beautiful pictures.
Big garden and park domain, easily to spend half a day on the premises if you have the time.

Amazing garden! The surrounding place is so beautiful and calm. We visit it early afternoon and didn't have a lot of tourists.Totally worth a visit

The grounds around the palace are wonderful. The variety of trees and other plants is impressive, and the atmosphere (except when you find yourself near the loud citizens of a certain neighboring country) is relaxing. My only complaint would be the condition of the rose garden, although that is easily explained by the need to save water during the summer.

Wow, such an incredible historical site. This is one of the less visited palaces of Sintra which gives the visitor a better opportunity to enjoy the rich detail of the ornate exteriors and interiors without the crowds. Purchased our ticket online the same day. We got there around 3pm and spent about 1.5 hours exploring. They also have a great coffee shop/ restaurant with lots of seating. Truly a gem and worth visiting while in Sintra.

Sintra was the best attraction in the Lisbon area.

We visited only this palace, which I was surprised to find out it was privately owned, like other palaces around that belonged to aristocrats.

There is a 10-minute walk through lovely gardens to get to the house if you go straight there. This place is huge.

We used the bus that comes every 20 minutes or so, and on our way back to the train station, we took a tuktuk, which was quicker and cheap.

Our favourite castle and garden in Sintra.
Also has a great history display upstairs. I recommend taking the path to the left down hill through the garden and then getting the little "train" from the cafe up the hill when you are finished. The train goes up and back approx every 15 min and is included in the ticket price, so there is no excuse to miss out.

This was my highlight of Sintra and you can easily spend half a day just enjoying tulle walking route and stunning grounds of the park. The Palace ilhas some incredible features and the restaurant offered some lovely food. If you're into nature walks you'll definitely love this.

Stunning park with church ruins that are beautifully overgrown. The Palace itself is intricate and beautiful. The grounds were open at 9am to stroll leisurely without any other people, that’s the way to truly enjoy them. The Palace opens at 9:30, again only minimal people so loud voices didn’t spoil the serenity.

Amazing architecture, interior design and garden-just stunning!
We came right before closing, on a rainy day which is likely why I was able to get such great photos with less people around. Wish we had more time here just to spend walking around the gardens. I think we were there for about an hour.

Great place to visit, no reservations or pre booking needed. Skipped the other two big Sintra tourist attractions to come here. Well worth it. Amazing architecture and history.

Amazing location with impressive gardens and great architecture. We would've liked to stay more but we were in a bit of a rush and the 90 minutes we spent there barely felt enough.

Take some time to visit it, it's worth it!

Beautiful restoration done here and the garden is huge. There was less than 3 minutes of queue to buy a ticket to enter. The tourist bus 435 which goes here was packed so it can be stressful to get on and return to Sintra.

Much more quiet than the other castles in Sintra but we'll worth a visit. Still absolutely stunning carvings and a lovely garden park. You can walk back to Sintra at least one way and it's a nice 2km stretch

After the 1st day we wasted too much time for Pena Palace, we came back to Sintra 2nd day, and took a taxi from the train station for less than 10 Euro to Monserrate.
& I love Monserrate, it's gorgeous and peaceful.
There's no line.
& you get to walk everywhere freely.
I feel peaceful & happy & free in this place.

My partner proposed to me here. With all of the grounds to cover, it was like we had the entire place to ourselves and it was magical. 💕💍 Lovely, endless gardens with water features (the waterfall was very strong after the prior day's rain) as well as a striking palace.

Another hidden gem in Sintra away from the hoards of tourists. We went early in the morning and stayed for 3 hours enjoying the details of the palace's architecture inside and outside. We could walk in the gardens for a short while since we needed to travel to a different city but not before having some coffee with sweets at the coffee shop. Worth every second of our time. I saw some amazing trees and so much green!! 💚💚💚💚. Loved it! Thanks to the staff for the excellent job they are doing in keeping the park and palace in such great condition.

What a beautiful and unique palace, with an interesting history of owners through the years. No crowds at all- we almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. The palace's Indian, Moorish, and Gothic influences make the whole setting feel surreal and mystical. The grounds are beautiful to walk, with well-groomed trails, unique flora, and places to sit and take in the views along the way. The palace itself has many areas to explore on multiple levels, with informational signs posted about the history. There is also a very nice and reasonably-priced cafe on the grounds as well.

Very lovely palace with beautiful gardens, and not too busy (slightly quieter as you can't easily walk from Sintra).
Be prepared to walk up and down a hill, although there is a small 'bus' which can take you down to the palace.
