A “local boy makes good in America” story - after leaving Doze Ribeiras as a teen and seeking his fortune overseas, a local man returned to build a small museum and local history interpretive centre. It’s actually rather well put together and covers traditional agriculture, handiwork, and the past island lifestyles that in reality are only a generation or two back. Interpretative signage in Portuguese and English, arranged thoughtfully across two floors and in a rather beautiful stone building. Actual farming and milling implements, with explanations and photos of their use. Check out the mini banana plantation in behind the museum. Opening hours may vary, but worth the stop as you traverse the island. Resident dog is friendly!
