We were taken here by our guide Juca and couldn't wish for better. We visited mid-week and off-season, so it was fairly quiet. The food in the Azores can be quite meaty, but the grilled cod was excellent.

Lovely steak, great taste and I've tried a lot of great steak restaurants. Nice wine, good prices, interesting room and ambiance. Recommended for a special treat.

Aug2023: we went there based on recommendation from a local - it was way beyond our expectations - best beef steak of the year and cooked to perfection - even the sides were original and tasty (a superb vinegary bean salad + more customary French fries). Dessert also great. This restaurant is clearly the best we have tried in the azores (in the more fancy category) - worth traveling here for the experience.

Bro! MIXED MEAT PLATTER! this was absolutely the best steaks I have ever had. We tried so many places on the island and this was the best. Nothing back in the states compare. If you have a chance. It is a must try. The blood sausage was an amazing starter as well.

First and foremost: make a reservation at least 24 hours prior to going. It makes it a lot easier.

This place is the best steak house I have ever been to. They raise the cows, butcher the cow, dry age the meat, and serve the best and juiciest steaks.

The skewer is amazing. 3 filets hanging upside down with garlic butter dripping down on the perfectly cooked steaks
The tomahawk is a dream come true steak. Perfectly seasoned, tender, juicy, and a massive amount of steak

And do not forget dessert. I had the chocolate mousse and a bite of the pineapple cheese pudding, and they were so decadent.

This place is absolutely worth every Euro!

We stopped here on an all-day Island tour with Azores Nature Tours and what a treat! The restaurant is so clean and inviting. They have a lovely patio too. We tried mostly traditional dishes recommended by our guide James. Everything was delicious! We ordered the alcatra for one and split it since we ordered several other dishes to try. We had enough to take the leftovers for a yummy breakfast the next day.

We had a fantastic lunch here. The restaurant was fully booked and we got a place in the restaurant’s garden. The local dish - Alcatra de Carne is highly recommended.

Really tasty meal! We had bread and cheese to start which is quite cheap (0.80 euros for the cheese and about 1 for bread). The cheese is nice and fresh, it is cool and spreadable with a mild flavour.

For lunch we had the bife de casa and the alcatra. Both were really wonderfully cooked.

The restaurant had a few vegetarian and seafood options too, but it is known for its beef.

Note that you should call ahead for a reservation during peak season (summer). Even in the off season it gets full.

Hours right now in October are only 12-4pm, so it’s a lunch place.

Excellent place for lunch in this area, make sure you have reservations, if you don’t have reservation, go after 2pm. Order the Bife Casa (flank steak) or the tomahawk steak. Free parking behind the restaurant ( Parking Lot)

This is one of the best restaurants we went to on the island. The meat was so amazing. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was beautiful. They have an amazing selection of wines and we got the meat platter for two which was fantastic especially for the price. You definitely need a reservation as it’s a small restaurant and the service is different than in countries like the US, you have to pay at the counter- this is typical in a lot of places that we’ve been to and want to make sure people know that when going so they don’t think the service is bad. We had an incredible meal and time there and would recommend to anyone and everyone!!

Without a doubt, the best restaurant I had the chance to try during my visit on the island. The 'alcatra' is to die for. A simple dish but with such an intense flavor, will have you begging for more. Make sure you have reservations, otherwise you might have to wait for over an hour to get a seat (I called at 1PM, got seats for 3PM). But it is, for sure, worth the wait. The staff is friendly and eager to help you enjoy the meal. And, as a cherry on top, it's quite affordable!

Really friendly staff with beautiful dinning room and outdoor tables. Food is awesome, literally the best meat I have ever tasted. MUST try the meat table for two. Unreal.

Something that from the first moment that I arrived to Terceira Island it surprised me was the quality of local businesses include restaurant. Caneta restaurant is also one of them.
It is located in middle of a beautiful rural road and small village which cause you to disseminate it's value, however as soon as you enter the cozy beautiful garden of it which look like the lost garden, will change your mind. As I did. The love drunk birds 🐦on trees in the garden, with local beautiful flowers and small golden fishes pool, let you enjoy your waiting time to get your table.
May be the mistake of not having a booked table provides you an unexpected opportunity to enjoy this lovely garden and increase your curiosity for the indoor environment. Now, you walk inside and the beautiful woody ceiling will get your attention and a nice bar is infront of you. Traditional local arts also added an especial touch to the place that you feel hmmmm it's good to be here. The nice, dedicated, professional, and helpful hosts are there to provides what you request. And yes, food, it is a very delicious and good quality traditional foods with a big variety in the menu. You can get some sausage, goat cheez, pepper sauce, with bread for your appetiser, and wait a bit for your main course. Desserts also could make different types of tastes happy, people that like home made Dessert and people that like mass production. And the price for all of all of these is €. It is an excellent value for the price.
Now let's make some general overview, the restaurant has restroom, it has indoor and outdoor sits, it has it's own parking, and from the door that currently available for the guests the restaurant is unacceptable for people with disabilities. You may pay with debit or credit card or cash.
And last Q&A, do I like to go back to Caneta?
Yes, I will enjoy it.

Been there few years ago and went back this time for lunch, food is amazing, wide wine selection.

Ok few things have changed:
you absolutely have to reserve
if you want angus beef, reserve few days in advance to not be disappointed
check the hours to make sure open
2 large rooms inside
If you want to eat on their beautiful terrace, you will order inside and you will bring your meals and dishes yourself to your table
To me it was a small thing to do to enjoy their cuisine

Tasty, fresh and local food in a more upper end setting than usual on the island. The staff is friendly - with a tendency to cheekiness (boarder line rude) - and speaks good English. The service is fast too.

Loved the place and food but be sure to book it a day in advance. If you don't have a reservation, come after 2 pm as it is less crowded.

The portions are a great size I got the flank stake for 4. It fed 4 of us very well the meat was amazing. Cooled perfectly.

The food here is very good, I’ve tried the stake with mushrooms and it was delicious. Staff is very friendly and professional. Nice environment. There is a parking lot in the backyards. One of the unmissable restaurants in Terceira.
