Restaurante Solar Do Farelo

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Cozy, rustic, very popular with the local English speaking community. The owner speaks several languages and is a very friendly person. The service is excellent. Great food. At lunch time there is a complete package menu for 22€. Self-service wine for 5€, as much as you want. Better to reserve your table in advance.

Very warm and welcoming restaurant! Several choices for lunch and ample self-serve wine! The food was wonderful. I had lamb chops and hubby had black pork. The staff and owners were all very welcoming and Filipe ensured we had a great experience. We will return! UPDATE. We did return and it was still amazing! Duck orange, lamb and beef cheeks were excellent! You must make a reservation as they are always busy (due to quality of food) Booked a third visit!

What a wonderful place to eat, a little bit of a drive to get to but worth the effort. We were greeted with a warm welcome and a selection of Portuguese dishes that are not that common in the tourist spots. We had the Oxtail Stew and Black Pig Cheek stew two dishes that were a first and they didn’t disappoint beautiful home style cooking a rarity.

Amazing restaurant. Amazing service. Get the old time traditional dishes (pork cheeks, oxtail, boar etc) and let them go crazy with the custom appetizers. We got sheep cheese and free range serano ham added to the olives, carrots and bread. Wow! Legendary place.

Packed with return diners who have visiting this place for over 20 years.

What a great place for an authentic Portuguese lunch. This is my absolute go to place every time we visit. Lucky to have enjoyed my birthday with good friends there. Everyone has to experience Fernando’s great restaurant. The all you can drink wine is a bonus.😊

We love it here. Lovely rustic restaurant with rudtic food and we love the fact that on Sunday lunch we just do our own wine from the large wooden vats. Food is good as are the staff. The owner is lovely and very helpful, always a part of our visit.

It was a great culinary and cultural experience! Amazed decor inside with wonderful views out! We were there for lunch. Delicious portuguese cuisine and all you can drink wine! What else could be better!

Fantastic dining experience. Very friendly service. Delicious food. Decent price in the end (€24 per person including wine and dessert for some!)... definitely recommended. They also have a delicious vegan stew with chestnuts and other goodies inside.

What a great restaurant. A good range of choices, from rabbit stew to fish Cataplana. You serve yourself wine from a barrel.
The food was excellent, we had the Cataplana and beef cheeks. The place was packed. The menue is a set price, doesn't matter what you chose to eat. Portions are large enough that you will not leave hungry.
Beside it being noisy, we have nothing to complain about.

Fernando and his brilliant staff cook up and serve good, wholesome food Portuguese-style. Really unique in many ways, one thing is the €6 'jug' for unlimited red or white wine from one of the two barrels in the picture.

After a two-year break for the pandemic, we went again to this marvelous restaurant and were delighted to find that it had improved! The pricing had changed but still offered tremendous value for money. The 'free' wine now costs 5 Euros, but you can keep going back to the barrel and refilling your glass as many times as you want (and while you can still find your way back to your table). The food is as good as ever with a special on the day we were there - pork tenderloin with mushrooms and a garlic sauce, which was historic, and in my view should be on the permanent menu. All the regular menu items were still there and still terrific. The staff had changed since our last visit and were now super polite and friendly. It was a first class [lunchtime] experience and highly recommended.

My husband and I were at the Algarve International Circuit and wanted to find a close by restaurant to have lunch. Little did we know we found a hidden gem when we stopped by Solar Do Farelo. The service was amazing from beginning to end, and the food even more so. True authentic Portuguese restaurant. Highly recommended!

The restaurant was great! The food was perfectly cooked (we ordered fish and pork) and for 7€ per person you can drink as much wine as you want. The staff was very kind and seemed to know every guest coming in ;) Also I can highly recommend the view out of the huge windows at sunset. We went to lots of restaurants in portugal and this was one of our favourites.

It’s very hard to find vegan options in AlGarve. The “vegan casserole” is SO GOOOOOD.

I ate oxtails. They were fabulous, moist, and tasted so good. White potatoes were perfect, vegetables were cooked just right. Still crunchy. So much food but ate all on my plate.

Beautiful restaurant with quirky decor and a fantastic view of the countryside. Quite romantic for couples and their lunch deal is really good. On top of that, service is amazing - owner and staff treats you like family. My second time here in a year and they remember me. 6 star.

This was our first visit, following a recommendation by friends and only wish we had been introduced years ago. Enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again next week. Thank you for an excellent experience!!
