Hertz, Aluguer de Viaturas Funchal

A good experience with Hertz here in Funchal, a tip for future renters is that when you pick up the car early, you have to return it also early. In our case we were there 45 min early, so then you have to return it also 45 min early then on the contract. This is common for all car rental company's. I would recommend and rent again here. I had an issue with this, but that has been fully resolved in the end.

Super price-performance ratio!

We received an upgrade (hybrid & automatic) which we only noticed in the car.

The staff in the service as well as at the return was very friendly. One person was ahead of us so we only had to wait 10 minutes. Tip: Avoid rush hour (10 am)

In addition to the deposit, an amount was reserved for the tank and we were told that the price was cheaper than at the gas station. However, this would only have been worthwhile if the tank had been completely empty, so we returned the car with a full tank and were not charged anything.

It was a pleasure to discover the island of Madeira with our camper! We slept in some amazing locations and were able to go up the hills easily!

We rented the car with rooftent. The car had no problems and the tent was very easy to assemble. The service during pick up and hand in was very nice.

We are frequent visitor to Madeira. Very frequent. We used to rent a car at different providers. For few years we work exclusivelly with HERTZ. We appreciate exceptional personal service at HERTZ Funchal downtown. Reliable car, clean and desinfected, in perfect condition. And what I do appreciate most is service, when you feel like CUSTOMER. Any your needs are taking into consideration. And if you work with HERTZ longer time, your needs are beeing predicted and fulfilled even before you ask.
If you are on Madeira for the first time, here is my personal recomendation for car rental here - ask for strong engine. Madeira is hilly, roads are very very steep. Some tiny roads are so steep, that you can hardly imagine this. Strong engine is a must.

Whole experience was ok, no extra charges or any issues. I was not sure where to return the keys after dropping the car back but it was not an issue, I just returned them on the next day.

It's the perfect way to travel madeira ! The car has more power then enough to climb the mountains.

We booked for 10 days via Sunnycars for an absolute fair price.As we wanted to pick up the car we met absolute frindly girls from Hertz. They´ve given us an almost new car with 60 PS (Skoda Citigo).
IMO this power is enough if you are not too lazy to switch the gearshift if necessary. Also the return of the car was without any problems and they didn´t charge my credit card with any strange fees (till today).
So as far as I can see everything is fine and a strong recommandation from my side.

I've forgot my camera in the central arm rest of the car, and the Funchal airport agency returned it by the local post office to Paris. It is so nice to have all my photos of the year back. You can really have trust in this staff.

Ontzettend goed geholpen. We hadden eerst een handgeschakelde auto gehuurd voor Madeira maar kregen het advies voor een upgrade naar een automaat; hier waren we erg mee geholpen! Auto was netjes en schoon, van tevoren werd alles uitgelegd en het was duidelijk wie we konden bereiken in het geval van nood/pech/hulp.

Gebucht über ADAC Deutschland, für 1 Woche, Auto stand abfahrbereit in der Garage. Vollgetankt. Kommunikation auf Englisch paßte perfekt und freundlich. Abgabe auch sehr gut 👍. Würde ich hier immer wieder gerne machen.
