7M Rent-a-Car started operations in June 2018 and is a company belonging to the 7M Group – Modern Madeira, currently in the real estate market since 2008.

We have highly talented collaborators with the taste for personalized customer service, they also have a new and updated fleet, with 24-hour assistance every day by telephone and e-mail.

We had rented a Renault Kajar for a few days and the price and service was excellent.

Johnny dealt with me and was knowledgeable, friendly and there was no fuss. He pointed out minor scratches on my scooter and invited me to photo them if I wanted. There was no underhanded practices and I spent the whole day riding around the hills of Madeira. It was an enjoyable day.

Process was quick and smooth. Car was very good and handy to use. I would expect a bit lower price for such a small car.

We had a rental car, unfortunately in the middle of the trip there was a problem with the brakes. The staff was very willing to help us and changed the car for us without any problems. there was also no problem with returning the deposit. We definitely recommend it.🙂

After many declines from other car rentals we walked in at 7M and asked to rent a car for 11 days without any reservation, after some phone calls he told us he got a car ready within half an hour! 30 minutes later we drove away with a brand new Fiat Tipo which was a fantastic car. We received some minor damage on our bumper but with great communication it wasnt that big of an issue. In short a very friendly and good rental company.

Perfect experience! Rented a car, it was brand new, and most important, of you make the insurance you don’t have to give any credit card in guarantee. Best staff, best prices, simply the best!

I had a good experience renting a car with them. The service was good: I needed a car for 1 day and had no credit card, but there was no problem at all. Initially, I had chosen a different car and they switched it when I asked them if I could, so really available people. I also asked them later on if I could change the drop off time and they were really available and said it was ok.

The car was also really nice (electric fiat 500): it was delivered to me with 100% battery, and they give you a card to charge it at the charging stations. I drove for about 200km and still had 40% battery left. I charged an additional 40% in approximately 1 hour (I think I used a 22kw charging point, but there are faster available in the island). If you keep it for more than a day you should probably charge it during the night or while doing something else like eating, so you don't waste time waiting. Despite the additional worries about charging, the car is really nice and quiet, it has absolutely no problem climbing up the hills in Madeira, and is also really comfortable if you drive in traffic.

The price is also good I think (€26/per day): plus €20 if you don't want to leave a deposit; you also pay the service if you leave the car at the airport and after opening hours, but they explain everything in the beginning.

The only problem: I had to call them quite a few times before they answered, but everything was ok in the end, so I recommend them!

We had good experience with this company. To rent a car was decided like 1 week before coming to madeira, they had a car and gave us best offer, glad for that. We got a fiat tipo cross with full insurance, almost new 4k mileage done, everything was fine from begining to the end. Thank you

Rented a Smart Four Automatic from 7m on Funchal Lido for a week during Easter. The cost was half of what I'd have paid through the bigger rental outfits.The car itself had clearly seen better days and had to be returned within an hour of pick up for the brakes to be mended. Setting aside these minor niggles, the car was a dream to park and did the job of getting us around the island with minimal fuss, the office was helpful and responsive when contacted and there were no scam attempts at the end of the rental. As always, make sure you take pictures of the interior, fuel guage and do a thorough video walkaround both at pickup and drop off to avoid any issues.

I opted for the basic insurance package (saving €20 a day) having taken out additional excess cover through Moneymaxim. All said, it was a painless experience (although I suppose all car rentals are until something goes wrong) and I'd definitely recommend 7m from a value for money perspective.

Just handed over the car. Had a Fiat panda hybrid for 3 days. The car was almost new, 700 km on board. Except for the waiting time when we picked it up (around 20minutes) we had a good experience. No extra charges or costs.

A great place to hire a car from. We had a breakdown on a Sunday night and they did everything in their power to help us get home. Cheap, helpful and easy to communicate with.

I hired a VW Polo for a week in May 2022 and the process was just great. English speaker at the Lido office made it easy for me and the process took less than 10 minutes.

The car was very new and almost like new inside and very clean. There was a minor scratch on the left wing and that was pointed out to me and recorded on the paperwork we were both in possession of. I did my own look around the car and I couldn’t see anything else.

The car worked great and at the end I had to change the drop off time due to changed flights and all it took was a WhatsApp message to get it acknowledged. I dropped the car off and Thiago was brilliant- came and met me at the drop off, did the review in all of 2 minutes and refunded my deposit no hassles.

He was then kind enough to offer me a lift to departures.

Overall a great experience and just how you want hiring a car to be.

Really good service and the car was good, as well. All little demages were properly reoprted at the very begining and the staff took their time to do this properly. We've rented Smart and it was a great choice for Madeira roads - it did great both on high hills and narrow, curvy roads.

I was rented smart cabrio with automatic gearbox, its perfect car for 2 peoples in madeira, more that enought power for montains! I had no problem with 7M. Car wass with full insurance. Dont be fools.. do not rent car in madeira with manual gearbox, i saw alot of people burning they clutch in montains and cant climb with cars like panda + manual gearbox..

We rented a small Fiat Panda for a week and paid around £100(it was in November) The car was easy to drive and did very well on steep hills. Very easy and straightforward collection. Deposit was paid back within minutes. Great staff, all following covid rules.

Some other reviewers seem to have had unrealistic expectations? So I’ll say this: manage your expectations and be smart about your choice of car. And you’ll most likely be happy with your car hire here. I’ll start with the bad and end with the good.

Don’t expect a full tank when you get the car. You’re expected to fill the tank to the level at which you received it. You’re not compensated for anything above that level upon return. Not that big of a deal really, don’t see why others complain? just google the total tank volume of your particular car and fill it accordingly before return. Things such as oil level, tire pressure and general condition of the car is your responsibility to check before you set off. You might not get a car in the best condition if you get the cheapest category car.

The GOOD: again manage your expectations and ask for a newer car and you’ll most likely be offered one. I got the third tier car category at 65 euro per day and got a completely new Kia crossover. Do go for the premium insurance at 15 euro a day and you won’t have to worry about excess charges or a deposit should anything happen - i.e scratches, dings etc. Which put me at a 80 euro a day total for a new car. Which is pretty good for central Funchal.

I had no incidents but still felt the premium insurance was completely worth it just for peace of mind. The premium insurance does not cover damages to third parties if it’s your fault.

Be patient and plan ahead for potential minor delays. They only had one person at the desk when I was there and she did her best to assist everyone.

In short, don’t be a difficult tourist with unrealistic expectations and you’ll be happy with your car hire from 7M Lido. :) Thanks Patricia!
