Restaurante Taberna Roberto

Best experience! Starters (sea food) more than expected. Main dishes (rib eye & octopus) best on Azores. Last but not least the dessert (local ice cream) better than in Italy! All thanks to Azorian cows!

Hands down the best restaurant we tried in Angra! We tried making reservations for dinner and they were fully booked, but we ventured during lunch time and were lucky to have been seated. We were in for a treat, because the food was even better than we expected. The duck salad and the shrimp appetizer were exquisite, then we shared a fish of the day, a steak and the tuna with mango (which was my favorite). The service was prompt and the staff quite attentive. Desserts were also delicious, and they have a very nice wine selection. Do call ahead of time if you want to have dinner here, and there are a couple of dishes that need to be ordered beforehand because they take several hours. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

I don't think there are words to describe the food you eat there. Go and let yourself be inspired by the taste, freshness and lovely service. You pay for the quality and that is totally okay. A place to go again.

The fish is DELICIOUS. If you ever travel to Terceira this restaurant is a must. Also the owner is very friendly and helpful.

It was such privilege to dine here. Roberto's restaurant truly reflects creativity, hard work, comfort and especially family. In times that can be difficult with the current economy and lack of workforce in the Azores, this place goes above and beyond to provide a rich and inviting experience. I'd like to thank Roberto, his talented wife and their amazing team for this highlight of our trip. Please cherish this opportunity if you ever get to experience the wonder of Taberna Roberto.

From the food to the restaurant's service , everything was incredible. The atmosphere is very nice , i would recomend to visit.

Stopped here for lunch because of the reviews. Would have to agree with everyones rave reviews about this place. The food was so fresh. Roberto even brought out the fish and meat selection so we can pick our own cuts/fish. The service was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect, wine selection superb! And they also have beer and liquor if you dont drink wine. This was my favorite meal on the whole island. This is a “Must Go”!

We enjoyed a Great dinner last night at Roberto’s! We started with Duck salad & oven roasted garlic shrimp. I had the grilled swordfish & my wife had the pork ribs. Swordfish was cooked perfect juicy & tender, brushed with an herb butter. The pork had nice crunchy crust and tender juicy rib meat. The crust had a hint of pineapple which it was served with. We finished off with lemon pie with an amazing meringue top. Roberto also brought a little homemade ice cream dusted with cinnamon for us to try. Roberto also picked out a nice wine from Douro. It feels like Roberto invites you into his home, you leave as friends.

Memorable experience. Fresh fish at a very reasonable price. No menu, just the best catch of the day to choose from. Roberto and his team are awesome. Highly recommend!

Our second time here and the expectations were met:) We came without a reservation (late October, not high season) and were able to get a table for two. Food was simply excellent (starter: lapas, main: tuna + filet mignon, dessert: chocolate cake + cinnamon ice cream + lemon pie), everything tasted very homey and fresh. One of the desserts was on the house! We were offered a relatively expensive bottle of Azorean wine but it was really delicious and there was no pressure (you can always say "no" unlike some of the other reviewers state;)). The service is outstanding, they really know how to make you feel special and cared for. Roberto's son even gave us a lift back to town because we couldn't get a taxi. Thank you very much and see you again soon!

If you are anywhere on the Azores island of Terceira, you must go to this restaurant

The best food, wine & service. I'm afraid that once Michelin discovers this place it will be impossible to get in. We were lucky enough to get waited on by the proprietor. He suggested the wine, based on our budget and tastes. The food they serve is based on what they have just acquired and is fresh, fresh, fresh. No menu, which means you get what is fresh and good.
I had lamb, that was melt in your mouth tasty. My wife said it was the best tuna she ever had. If you're a wine connoisseur, you would be remiss not to go there. Robert probably has the best stock of fine Portuguese wines in the country. I'm torn, because I hope this stays a hidden gem, but I just want everyone to enjoy the same great food.

One of the best restaurants on the island! The fillet mignon & fresh snapper were extremely delicious!!! And the homemade biscuit ice cream & chocolate cake were divine. The guy’s serving us were super friendly & helpful, they know what they’re doing! Exceptional service! Definitely a must-visit when in Terceira.

Absolutely incredible food and service. Hands down some of the best food I’ve eaten. The shrimp appetizer nearly had us licking the plate. Beto (Roberto’s son) was a wonderful waiter who created an amazing platter for us we almost licked clean. Highly recommend!

Great spot in the middle of the countryside. The food was phenomenal- we had the limpets and a fresh fish which we were able to pick out prior to the meal. Definitely recommend for a visit to Terceira. Warning - they don’t take credit cards only debit/cash.

Great place and exceptional food. Extremely friendly and hospitable atmosphere, great wine recommendations and good value overall. You will not regret it!

This is a must do stop for dinner when you visit Terceira. Roberto personally served us and was the most gracious host. He spent 10-15 minutes discussing out likes and dislikes of wine to pair with our meal and it was superb. A truly genuine experience you do not find in many restaurants. Very homey and personal. Highly recommend the duck salad as a starter. Bring euros as some international cards do not work. Very reasonable for what we had!

Amazing meal, probably our best meal on Terceira to this point. Loved the duck salad and the fillet minion was super tender and delicious. I would highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed

The food is amazing, and the owner is very nice and very knowledgeable. My wife got the duck, and I got the tuna. Both dishes were amazingly delicious. Definitely the best restaurant on the island.

It is absurd to compare this restaurant to any of the others that are rated five stars on Google maps. This restaurant should be a one or two star Michelin. There is no menu because the food is all locally sourced, daily. This is a "house of wine", and the chef Roberto is a master at what he does. One of the best meals we've ever had in our lives, in any city, in any country, in the world. Don't believe me? Try it.
