We ordered tapas and we were really surprised about the size of the servings. More than expected! Service was very honest on the recommendations and we got really good value for money. The garlic bread and the gambas were the highlights ✌

Very delicious food and great service. We went for a swim before coming to eat here because its near the beach. Staff was very friendly and considerate, honestly very underrated place. There was also a tv so we could watch the football. I highly recommend this place one of my best dinner experiences.

I dined here on the recommendation of the reception at the Hotel Melia, specifically asking for a "not-touristy restaurant". It's really hard to pick, especially along the touristy mile from Funchal to São Martinho. Situated just opposite the hotel, I ordered a seafood platter (3 fish and prawns) and it was the best I have had in a long time! Simple, well prepared and simply delicious. The service was good. From what I noticed when I was there, there are locals, so that is surely a good sign.

This restaurant buzzes with energy in the evening, creating an exciting dining environment. The seafood platter, featuring a medley of tuna, sea bream, and swordfish, is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to high-quality, fresh ingredients. This is perfectly complemented by a side of deliciously roasted potatoes and a refreshing salad. The standout, however, is their exceptional service, ensuring a dining experience that leaves you wanting for more. A return visit is definitely on the cards for anyone seeking a delightful seafood fare.

For some reason, we had never tried this restaurant before today. What an opportunity we had missed. It was superb and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
We sat outside in a pleasant spot with bougainvillaea and passionfruit growing.
The waiters were all pleasant, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the food.
We will certainly visit again.

A very unassuming place when you first arrive.
We were greeted by a very friendly waiter who given us a choice of tables.
All in all, 3 different staff looked after us. All familiar with English so no problem with communication - menus are also in various languages.
Here is where I tried limpets for the first time. And they do them to perfection! The rest; octopus, mussels, squid, prawn risotto were just a gift to your palate & senses.
Very reasonably priced too.
We visited 2 night later. Says enough, right?

An excellent authentic Portuguese/Madieran food with excellent wine. We really enjoyed the the Rabbit and clams and Black Pork Cheeks. It is also an amazing off-licence for wines and spirits. Excellent service with very friendly staff.

Enjoyable meal, friendly service located directly opposite the Meliá hotel. In terms of food, it's the best tasting within a 5 minute walk of the area having tried a few during my stay. Overall, the meals are a good representation of local cuisine.

Nice place with amazing food and friendly staff. We ordered fish soup, pawns, lapas, garlic bread and of course poncha. Everything was tasty. The place is very spacious. Lots of tables inside. Also some shade if you want a table inside. Beautiful plants around the restaurant so even when it's near the street, it's still very cosy.

Our first visit to this traditional restaurant and we have already booked to go back. The service is very good and the menu has several Portuguese dishes on offer. I loved the red snapper.

In a quiet place a bit hidden from the ocean and the crowds lies this cozy place. Was here to try oven baked octopus and indeed was not disappointed. Superb flavor, tender and silky. The portion was very big and the menu prices seemed very reasonable. Would come back again.

Visited here on recommendation and was not disappointed. Lovely staff who really looked after us (sorry about the red wine spillage guys ;0) ! The Limpets followed by octopus were both amazing, and the wine selection is incredible - ask for a quick tour of their cellar, it's fascinating and they're passionate about their selection, and yet never once tried to up-sell. Now I know why my friend has been dining there for years.

Awesome food. Had the fresh baked salmon with a starter of medium garlic bread. Service was phenomenal with very quick well prepared salmon grilled and with a buttery sauce and lemon to add.

Service, price and food are all in agreement, can highly recommend.

Amazing food, reasonable price, and friendly staff! Garlic bread seemed just normal, but tastes amazing! A grilled squid and sea bass were great too! Highly recommended!

I’d highly recommend a trip to this restaurant after our visit tonight. The food was faultless 10/10. We each had a soup starter, my wife had vegetable and I had the onion au gratin. Both were excellent and full of flavour. For main, my wife had chicken in mushroom sauce and I had the grilled loin steak in pepper sauce. Wow ! Both dishes were fabulous and accompanied with a very large portion of sautéed potatoes with bacon, onions and peppers and lovely well cooked vegetables. Always save the best until last ! My goodness - try the “grannies” pudding. You won’t be disappointed. The prices are very reasonable and the service was outstanding. Full marks. We’ll be coming back without any hesitation !

The waiter was incredibly friendly and had the patience not only to explain the different choices of dishes but also took the time to show me the variety of wines that PVP had. I was really interested in Madeira Wine (not knowing that much about it) and he showed me the different types that they had and various other wines. Talk about going above and beyond. This guy was really informative.
I had the pepper steak and my wife had lamb for dinner. Both were excellent. If you’re in Funchal, do yourself a favour and stop in here for dinner. You will not be disappointed.
