A beautiful Buddhist Monastery that I think was worth a visit. I was allowed to video an ancient tradition as I provided a small donation. Stunning views in every direction.

Tengboche Monastery Situated at 3,867 metres (12,687 ft), the monastery is the largest gompa in the Khumbu region of Nepal.
It was built in 1916 by Lama Gulu with strong links to its mother monastery known as the Rongbuk Monastery in Tibet. In 1934, it was destroyed by an earthquake and was subsequently rebuilt. In 1989, it was destroyed for a second time by a fire and then rebuilt with the help of volunteers and international assistance.
Tengboche monastery is amidst the Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site of "outstanding universal value”), draped with a panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountains, including the well-known peaks of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku.

Tengboche is the terminus site of the "Sacred Sites Trail Project" of the Sagarmatha National Park that attracts large number of tourists for trekking and mountaineering. It is a circular trail that covers 10 monasteries in a clockwise direction terminating in the Tengboche Monastery.
About 350 years ago, Lama Sangwa Dorje (a high priest) of Khumbu declared Tengboche to be a religious site where there would one day be an important monastery. But it wasn't until 1923, when the reincarnate of Lama Sangwa Dorje—a boy from nearby Khumjung—founded the actual monastery.

The biggest holy Buddhist monestary while in EBC trek. Most trekker will stay overnight here. I'd my overnight just after Tengboche. Was called Diboche. But I do recommend to stay here in Tengboche I think.

Was told monks from Singapore and Malaysia made their pilgrimage trip here. So a fellow trekker and I went in for a quick tour while waiting for my family members to come up the hill (tough climb). We have to remove our shoes before entering. I can feel the warmth and serenity inside with two lama chanting. A sitting Buddha occupies the centre stage. No photographing allowed.

Picturesque place between Namche (9km) and Dingboche or Pheriche (11km). From Pheriche then via Lobuche towards EBC; from Dingboche via Chukung towards Kongma-La. At 3,860m a good place to acclimatize; comfortable village with all amenities. Great views of Tabuche, Cholatse and Arakam-Tse; definitely visit the monastery.

A beautiful monastery that is younger than it looks. The location of Tengboche means the views are absolutely stunning. You are allowed enter the monastery at certain times of day but you can't take pictures inside. It is a must visit.

One of the most peaceful parts of the trek is this monastery, where a doggo is guarding the doors by sleeping in the middle.

The monks were very nice to show us around and try to explain what they do and how they live, wanted to stay one more day there to learn and see but had to leave to finish my trek, they even made us try some of the foods they eat which is very peculiar and interesting.

Totally worth visiting this path of the trek.
