View in the morning is awesome 🤩 room quite big and got water heater to shower too. At night very cold and relax.
Drive 5 min to KK park if u plan to climb KK mountain this the place to stay.

Would stay here again. Quiet serenity peace n calm. Comfortable beds. Tea shld b provided. Relaxing balcony. Breathtaking scenery. Quite fast WiFi. Friendly n helpful staffs. Cute cats.

I was hesitating to give maybe only 4 stars, but the rooms, service, garden everything is very well, clean and nicely maintained, so it deserves 5 star. As a very important feedback for improvement I would suggest that the transport for the early morning trekking tours is not coming down to the parking lot. They can easily stop at the road side parking lot. It's every morning super loud down there, due to the leaving trekking people and cars coming and leaving. If you have one of the 4 rooms (5a and 5 b...) at this side, you wake up very early between 6 and 7 am.

The place was nice during our recent visit there, though it's good to note that some room does not have a good view of the hills. Be cautious though, it's extremely cold when it's raining. Location-wise, the residence is just a 2 minutes drive to the nearest eating place and a good 10-15 minutes drive to the town and the desa dairy farm.

The view 10/10.. depends on room you choose. Valley view.
Room 8/10.. comfort, clean, wifi available we here just for sleep.
Service 8/10.. receptionist until 9pm only, friendly, cute.
Location 9/10.. perfect location, peaceful far from noisy road, steep road 😂, near kinabalu park, but parking is limited.

Stayed at a 3 bedroom villa. Beatiful view of the valley. Walking distance from Kinabalu Park for Kinabalu peak view. Hot shower trickling. Come for the peace and serenity. Found it!

J Residence is by far the best value/comfort option near Mt Kinabalu park. It's not *in* the park itself (where accommodations are quite overpriced), but literally a 5 minute walk from the park entrance - making it a great choice if you want to enjoy the park but don't want to climb the mountain.

It's a steep walk down their driveway, but you're rewarded with great views from the chalets which are built on the hillside. It's really peaceful here and the rooms are nicely maintained. There isn't much to do after dark, so I appreciated that the rooms have TV and you can borrow DVDs. It does get quite chilly at night, so remember to pack warm clothes!

The accommodation is nice and clean. The road leading down to the residence is steep and have to be careful especially at night. Not enough parking space.Its just a short walk to the Kinabalu Park. The restaurant near the entrance of the residence is closed so have to go further to get some food.

Clean and cozy place to stay before and after Mount Kinabalu climbing but just need to plan your vehicle as the entrance road having 40' steepness.

Budget stay with beautiful view and serene ambience. However do note that the road down to the hotel is steep. Make sure your car is in good condition and offload passengers or your luggages

We (9 of us) had a night's stay at J Residence, we chose the biggest chalet to stay at. It was very nice, spacious and cosy! The rooms were nicely made, and the bathrooms were equipped with water heaters and nicely designed as well. Having the biggest chalet, we also had the BBQ area to ourselves. They were most accommodating as they prepared all the utensils and plates for us to use. It was a pleasant stay for all of us. Thank you J Residence, we will definitely visit again.

Receptionist was super friendly. Definitely will visit again! Telco signal was kinda weak but who cares? There’s a free Wi-Fi available.

If you want adventure, thrill and one of a kind chalet, stay overnite there at J Residence. The chalets are beautiful, in combination of simple room, and glass view that you can see every morning.
The thrill part? It is located at steep valley near Kinabalu Park Entrance. You should rent a car with manual transmission so you could hit gear 1 all the way to the top to get to the main road. I had my difficulties using automatic transmission until I had to try twice to get it to the top. Mind you, I'm a pretty skillful driver, so I get a hang of it pretty quickly. Hahahaha

Very relaxing and private place. Much needed vacation after the stress of working. There is a mountain nearby that you can hike, but we didnt even get to do that. We just stayed and chilled out in J Residence instead. The view was spectacular.

Nice view of Mount Kinabalu during the stay.
Peaceful and serene and very cold. To get sweater during your stay.
Night time, insects will sleep with you. So get things done before they sky turns dark at 7pm

Value for money, comfortable, easy to book with no hassle. Fast replies if you have any inquiry, so it's very easy to plan and confirm anything. BBQ pit is available with utensils. They provide DVDs to watch with no charge so we can watch in our room since DVD player and TV are available. Can enjoy with a nice cup of coffee since they provide water heater as well. WiFi is also available, which is very, very convenient! Fast connection too :) I'd suggest eating at Restoran Panataran (opposite of Kinabalu Park) which is just within walking distance from the chalet, nice food there.The water's ice-cold especially at night and in the morning..
Anyone who visits Kundasang should try staying in J Residence, I highly recommend it! Will definitely book a stay here again if I go to Kundasang again :D

To those who are staying just for the Mount KK climb, it is recommended that you stay another night to enjoy cool climate in Kundasang.

Water heater kinda cold, but staff very friendly and attentive

Quite an experience stay.. Nice spacious room.. At qst glance, though my room is no fan and aircond.. 🤣 But i dough that you'll need one.. Basic amenities like kettle, soap..etc.. Nice place if you just want to relax or hang out with friends and family.. One negative things is the road to go that place is high.. I mean the slope.. 🤣 That's all.. Hope this will help you guys..

Nice place. Cool climate. Fresh Air. Can't see mount Kinabalu from here.
