Zi Zai Hill

Visited on a weekday & I was all alone for the entire hike. Just follow the markings on the trees/rocks and you wont get lost. Mostly uphill climbing till the ‘haunted house’. After the house, there’s a tough trail headed towards Penang Hill. No toilets nor water along the way so carry enough water & be comfortable peeing in nature.

A very clear trail which is well-maintained by the local hikers. Give yourself 1½ to 2 hours (slow, leisure hike) from the trailhead to the peak, where there is an old, empty yellow wooden house. Gentle ascent all the way up with very few flat sections. No left or right turns, just follow the main trail up safely. There are red flags (of a political party) along the way. The area at the top is spacious and clean, with toilets and big containers of rain water.
Many nice spots for some beautiful photography. From the peak here, hikers can proceed to the Botanical Gardens, Batu Feringghi as well as to the top of Penang Hill. However, only proceed, if you are fit enough, carry sufficient water and have someone who knows the way. If not, it is better to hike down the same way you hike up.

Nice place to hike. Entrance 2 is more difficult route than entrance 1 which nearby Tar college

Deep in the forest reserve. You need to trek over an hour to reach 500m elevation. Very breezy place with a purportedly haunted abandoned bungalow. There is no basic faculty provided.

A nice and slow 2 hour hike to reach the peak of Zi Zai Hill. The wooden bungalow and the surrounding areas are well kept and clean. Certainly an ideal spot for resting and enjoying lunch or snack.

A bit challenging hiking trail with some steep slopes but trails are well marked and maintained with some man-made steps and ropes. Good view points at a few places.

Nice hiking trail with connecting trail to Penang Hill and adjacent hills.
