One of the most beautiful beaches I have been. Water is super clear and not deep, so swimming is easy. Lots of iguanas, crabs, birds and since this is a natural reserve Make sure to take care of Flora and fauna. No sun lotion allowed.
Need to book a ferry to get there.

Absolutely stunning! The most beautiful beach you still find this side of the Atlantic! Clear water and a beautiful tour! There's a reason it's a national park and it is protected!

So happy we took an excursion here! It was the most beautiful beach I have seen. Crystal clear waters, soft silky sand and lots of beautiful wildlife both on shore and in the waters. There is a small museum with information about the island and its inhabitants. I could have spent my whole vacation here!

One word that best describes Isla Contoy would be "pristine". One might often stumble on iguanas and hermit crabs as we walk around, better to watch our steps. A particular variety of Pelicans are in abundance and they are beautiful/relaxing to watch.

Very Beautiful Protected Island!
Be sure to take a large boat tour because it is a long boat ride to this island. Only a set amount of visitors allowed each day and only with a registered visit. Lovely shore/ beach area where we saw a small skate and a few fish. The east side of the island has great snorkeling in good weather. The island is protected because it is an important nesting area for birds and migrating whale sharks. Besides birds the island has crocodile, iguanas and huge dry land hermit crabs. Tour groups offer a fabulous all you can eat - smoky grilled fish or chicken lunch with rice, pico de gallo and salad. There is a new open air museum showing history, flora, fauna and animals of the area. Also a tower you can climb to see the entire island, a birds eye view! The lagoon has thousands of nesting frigate sea birds during January and February.
Worth the trip, very informative.

It's a lovely Real Caribbean island goo with BlueCaribe as they don't have any photographers bothering you to take pictures and then to pay for pictures as Ocean Tours company does.

This place is absolutely breathtaking!! If you have an opportunity to go do it, they only allow 200 people on the island per day! The island itself is just amazing, the beach and sea was crystal clean.

Beautiful remote beach. Coming here really gives the feeling of being away from the busy tourist beaches. Many beautiful birds nestling here.

Great place to interact with dolphins: patting, stroking, swimming, kissing, high-fiving ...
Photos are a bit expensive, $130 for a set but done professionally.
Worth going anyway. Plus you can take a taxi to go around the island, with stops for shopping, sightseeing, swimming...

Beautiful place, calm and closer to nature. No utilities (WC without water), sunscreen free zone (to preserve nature of the island).

A true paradise! We did a private tour to Isla Contoy that started around 8:30 am. The boat ride to the island took around 35 minutes. Once you get to the island you must fill out a form to track your visits. Isla Contoy is a national park and a bird sanctuary so a limited number of people can visit. Before COVID, 200 people a day were allowed but now the number is 75 to 100.
A few important things to note before you visit:
- Sunblock is not allowed. Not even biodegradable sunscreen because it’s killing the coral and impacting the flora and fauna of the area. I recommend getting a long sleeve rash guard, bringing a hat and sunglasses
- Leave no trace. Please don’t leave trash on the island and pick up everything when you leave
- It’s also a plastic free zone
The park has a small museum, bathrooms, and a bird watching tower but it was under maintenance. Several marine biologist live on the island and do tours to teach you about the island’s ecosystems. You can also visit the lagoon and see where some of the birds are nesting.
The park closes at 3 pm. It was an absolutely magical experience but it’s pricey. Group tours are around $100 to $150 but if you want something private it’s more like $450 a person. The tours also include food, drinks, and snorkeling.
For me it was absolutely worth it! I had a wonderful time in the island, away from the crowds, and surrounded by staggering beauty.

Beautiful island! The beach is beautiful. The only way to get there is an excursion boat. There are covered areas that are first come, first serve. You WILL NOT be able to walk freely on the island except on the beach, it is a bird sanctuary. As you arrive you will see armed Mexican Marines, they are there for security of the island and won't give you a second thought unless you aren't following the rules.. They're good guys!

Beautiful place, well worth a visit. Remember to put sun cream on an hour before you leave as you can't apply any before getting in the sea or when on the island as it's a nature reserve.

Island itself is beautiful. However, even after been told to buy reef friendly sunscreen, this was taken off us before we set sail for the island. As a result we ended up being burnt and losing a day of the holiday. Be warned.
