Hotel Grand Sunset Princess

Overall I had an amazing time at this resort. There was always something to do. I found everything very convenient there is always somewhere close by to get some food or a drink no matter where you are. The restaurants were great and the buffet was also good in my opinion. I stayed in the Platinum and I think that was good value as well, especially for its proximity to the beach and the bar in the Platinum lobby was excellent. I also enjoyed the entertainment both during the day and at night. The entertainment staff do a good job with everything. Hope to visit this resort again!

Overall amazing resort!! The food was amazing and gourmet, every single restaurant was amazing!!!! At resorts there aren’t usually many good restaurants / food is always iffy. The service is absolutely amazing, Christopher Hernandez is absolutely amazing and extremely accommodating. My family which is a group of 11 and it’s extremely difficult to get reservations anywhere, but Christopher met with us on the first day and helped us schedule dinner every single night without any issues at all. We’ve had so many issues in the past at other resorts but Christopher made sure we were well taken care of. He even came to every single restaurant every single night (we stayed 7 nights) and made sure we were taken care of and happy. We would come to this resort again especially for him. If i could give 100 stars i would!

Overall great trip. We went snorkeling with the company on the beach that is affiliated with the hotel and had a great experience. The reef was beautiful and we saw a much greater variety of fish than I ever expected. The beach was very clean and we had someone coming around regularly to offer us drinks. Many options for snacks were readily available throughout the day. We stayed in the Platinum section and ate breakfast daily at Sunset Snack. We were lucky to have Maricela Hernández as our server the first morning and then made a point of sitting in her section daily after that for the remainder of our stay. She really helped in making our stay memorable. She always made sure our day was off to a good start, gave us information about the resort, recommended fun things to do, and helped me as I was learning to speak Spanish. She was very attentive to our group of 9-12 people each time we were there and continuously made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, a great trip!

We had an INCREDIBLE time at this resort! The staff was all very kind and it was well kept and maintained.
Food was good but could’ve been better. There’s great selection at least!
The drinks are all that mattered though and they were tasty! Electric Lemonades had me feeling great all week long.
We stayed in a private villa and it was a gorgeous room! Massive comfortable bed and unlimited room service 🤤
I loved seeing all the different wild life around and I’m definitely bringing treats for all the cats next time I go!
Lots of fun places to see outside of the resort as well!

Really large property, really take advantage of their shuttle service.
Cleaners are very hands off, they make up the bed and clean the floors/bathrooms. They try to work around your stuff and not move it when they can. (E.g. clothes on the bed? They will move the clothes to the couch and then make the bed.
The Restaurants here try their best, some of them missed the mark for me. But it's not the end of the world when many people come to the resorts for beaches, partying, and drinks.

The beach was long and had nice sand. very few Rocky places. The staff did their best to keep the beaches clean of seaweed but there's only so much they can do.
The pools were okay, we had a swim out suite and were told that the pools close at 8:30 which includes our swim out suite. (Or so we were told by other guests who had swim up suites, staff told them they couldn't aim after 8:30)
Some of the pool areas had loud music going which contributed to a party atmosphere which some might not like. There is a quieter section of the pool closer to the lobby (not referring to the special Villa pool).

There was an incredible amount of bars. Including platinum bars which aren't available to non-platinum guests, but not one platinum swim up bar.

The platinum area had great service and tended to be a bit quieter despite having one of the louder music pools right next to it.

For non-platinum guests, you have to pay for room service. For platinum it's free except for "combos" on the menu. There is no distinction for what is free or not, you have to ask.

The drink selection is pretty decent, although we didn't find their "house" wines that great.

The wife and I have made more than one trip here. We upgraded for the platinum package on both occasions. On the second trip I was sad to see that Crown Royal was no longer available at the bars. We were placed in Riviera the first time and Sunset the second. Riviera platinum is a lot closer to the beach access. The resort is large so prepare to do some walking. (Not a bad thing when a person can eat and drink as much as they can here.) I want to give a special thank you to Leonardo at the concierge desk in the Sunset Platinum lobby. He told me he has been on the job two weeks and the guy is already. Fantastic. He went above and beyond to help the wife and I. He is super friendly, made the experience that much better. If he is this good at his job in two weeks, I can only imagine how he will be in two years. We liked the Riviera side being closer to the beach, but would come back up sunset just to deal with Leonardo again. We will definitely be coming back. As well as a thank you to Ricardo, our waiter in the Miso restaurant. Amazing personality, helpful, kind, and funny. He can turn a persons mood around after a rough, rainy, and miserable day outside.
The only things would like to see is security doing more rounds through the platinum beach area to move the non platinum members off of the lounge chairs, so the platinum members can use them. That and if a lounge chair is left vacant for 90 minutes, security should remove the towel someone left behind to “hold” their place, and let someone who wants to use the chair actually use it. Our first day on the beach, we went out at 7am to get a spot and watch the sun come up. The entire front row was covered by towels. By 12:30 there was still lounge chairs that no one came to use. People finally showed up after lunch, lay there for three hours and then left. It would be nice if people that were there to enjoy the sun and view of the ocean could actually use the lounge chairs they pay extra to have the privilege of using.

Maricela Hernandez at Snack Sunset was an absolute delight during our week stay. We looked forward to seeing her every morning and she made each meal wonderful. So friendly, attentive and wonderful with our son. She’s the best!

although I do find this resort and the staff to be AMAZING I have one issue.
the numerous cats and lemurs that are in 100% much needed emergency help. for a resort so fancy and proud you have the cats walking around with manage and infections. you have lemurs with NO fur and barely able to walk. there are so many organizations that would come in and help these poor animals out. highly turned off from going back and seeing this. it's more of a disgrace to allow such creatures to suffer on their territory you have dug up. Please call for help and get them out of their. lots of rehab places will take them. I'm not sure if showing the pictures of them on social media will help the cause? please help them.

I’ll start with saying if you’re going to go here get the swim up room don’t waste your money on nothing else pay the extra and be super glad you did. These rooms are the best rooms they have. you open up your patio door and walk down the steps right into the relaxing river that leads you right out to the pool. You also have your own pool lounge chair to sit in and relax in the water outside your room. The grand sunset is in a beautiful jungle setting so there’s lots of foliage and animals. that being said there is a lot of walking unless you don’t mind waiting and riding on the cart that picks up at certain stops. Myself, we don’t like riding the carts my girl and I would rather walk but we also have a good feet and legs. The food here is phenomenal. The service is phenomenal. The grounds are phenomenal but on a score of 10 I would give the beach a 6. I would say the grand sunset princess isn’t really a place I would go if I wanted to be on a beautiful beach and remember plan on walking to the beach because it’s not what I would consider close to the rooms. I would recommend grand sunset princess to any of my friends but again I would tell them get the swim up room!!!!! You’ll thank me that i told you to get it. Have a great time cheers!

Beautiful, amazing place!! My mom and I came to this resort for relaxation and everything has been incredible - service, cleanliness, staff is so positive, food is great, beach is gorgeous and clean, so many animals all around!! I can’t rave about this enough. Idelfonso @ the Chill Out beach club was our attendant/ server for breakfast and he was fantastic - on the ball & great to talk to as well, he made our experience very enjoyable. Thank you to all the staff, we will definitely be back !!!

We had an excellent experience at this resort. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well maintained and the food was delicious all round. The Italian restaurant was our favourite. Mariano took good care of us. Highly recommend.

Just back from our stay at this stellar hotel,
The grounds and the amenities are stunning, the staff went way beyond to ensure our comfort while we were visiting.
The overall experience of the hotel was just beyond 5 star.
The food was great with many choices either in main dining and the 7 alacart dining experience.
Only negative to say about our stay, was some of the disrespect from the other guests regarding this slice of paradise.
We are guests of this beautiful place it takes a second more to properly dispose of empty drink cups ect. However again the staff does a great job of making the grounds extremely clean.
Special shout out to Annhi and Stephanie at the front desk for making this a truly wonderful place to visit and ensure another trip soon.
If you like wildlife the grounds are sanctuary for Deer, monkeys, cooties and other wildlife which make your feel at one with nature

Juan from chill out provided us a fantastic dinner service at Miso restaurant. It was a highlight meal of our trip. Very grateful of him and thank you for keeping our kids happy while my wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal!

Throughout the entire week, Raquel at Chill Out provided us with exceptional service. Her dedication truly made our week unforgettable, and we are eager to return. Without fail, she delivered outstanding service every single day, enhancing our experience in every way possible.

Evika Lopez is super friendly and helpful. She is so caring and sweet. Love to see her smile every morning at the buffet! Def making my stay so enjoyable! The service is awesome 👌 The food is great. Lots of options. Mario drove the golf cart and gave us a small tour at night and helped us finding crocodiles! The stuff here makes ours stay awesome!

This resort was the most beautiful! So clean & well-manicured. We saw sooo many different animals which made this resort even more special! The beach boasted white soft sand & many water activities, hair braiding, massages, & bars/ snacks all nearby. Will def visit this resort again!! Loved it!!

It was a fantastic stay. Maricela Hernandez was super nice and a great host at the Snack Sunset. She took care of us really well and highly recommend!

Second time going to this hotel, wonderful clean beach with no seaweed and rocks on it, turquoise water, and all water activities are available. The buffet is great, and the restaurants, especially Miso Restaurant (Tappanyaki), was amazing. The staff is excellent, and the natural surroundings are beautiful, with lots of cute and friendly animals such as monkeys, deer, and birds.
The only disappointing part was booking a restaurant. When we wanted to make a reservation, they informed us that all were booked, leaving us with no choice but the buffet. They only provide a table without a reservation when you spend $100 US and buy a bottle of wine, which seemed unfair. I'm not sure if people can book their restaurants before arriving, but it was confusing, especially for us with a short visit.
Otherwise, highly recommended! Also, it's only 20 minutes away from Playa Del Carmen, a city definitely worth visiting.

Breakfast at the sunset snack bar is fantastic with our 10/10 star server Lorenzo. He is always attentive and accommodating. He remembers us every morning we show up. The atmosphere is relaxing here, and there’s much to do. The fire and drum show was my favorite evening show. Beach was nice and clean. Wild animals were entertaining to watch. Rooms are clean. Food is usually very good. Service is good all around.

We are beyond happy with the Grand Sunset Princess. We will be back!!

We have so many great things to say but I will leave it to only mention a couple of big important things. First if you are celiac this is the place for you!!! Second here is why. They went above and beyond to make sure our daughter never went hungry and felt extremely safe eating. The staff at the Sunset main buffet were unbelievable. Absolutely friendly, and they remembered us even though it's a huge resort. The host Erika Lopez would see us coming, and take our daughter right over to the main chef Felipe Antonio, who would go over all the food each time. If there was something with possible cross contamination, he would have fresh food made up. Not ever did any of the cooks make an issue of making fresh food. We had a few servers over our week at the resort, and most were so friendly and very attentive but two in particular Veronica Uc Yam and Ricardo (sorry forgot to ask his last name) were on point each and every day!! They worked so hard, always made sure you were comfortable and didn't need anything. Clearing dishes immediately at all of the tables they had, getting anything anyone requested and always had a smile.

Seriously the staff at the sunset from the front desk, yard maintenance, house keepers, bartenders and everyone in between were all amazing and so friendly. The staff here changed our outlook on Mexico, we have been to Mexico a couple times before and really had no intention on going back but wanted to go away for Christmas and this resort looked amazing. You can tell the staff are happy and love their job!
