El Fogón

This place is a casual cozy spot to have awesome tacos. I’ve been in Mexico for a few weeks now in various cities and this place holds up against the best of them when it comes to tacos! The pastor and sirloin tacos were delicious. Also asked for a side of extra pineapple to load up my tacos with and they accommodated me no problem. Enjoyed a Limonada from here as well. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely the best place for tacos,
tortas, guacamole, and drinks!! My husband tried the charros beans for the first time and loved them!! The chorizo was phenomenal, as well as the other tender and flavorful meat choices. Service was always friendly and fast. Even though they are so busy at certain times of the day, they never rush us to leave. Highly recommend for a great dining adventure for the taste buds!!

They have the best tacos in playa del Carmen. Try Al pastor. Sirloin was my favorite. Guacamole is very fresh served with tortilla chips. Fair prices.

Absolutely the best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had! Do yourself a huge favor and stop here for a meal!! I had the Taco Laco…this picture does not do it justice! It is huge!! And the the best burrito I’ve ever had!!

Delicious! What more can I say? So far on our visit to PDC, this has been the best food we have had. Lots of flavor, good portion size and excellent prices. ¡Vuelvo enseguida

Some of the best fresh fish and food in Playa. Just off the main strip on 5th Avenue. We had the ceviche and jumbo prawns and whole fried fish. All was amazing.

This establishment is the real deal.

The food was FANTASTIC and tastes even better.
Service was superb and meals were served very quickly.

We went back the next day and the server remembered me and my food and drink choices.

Now that's commitment to a job!

Come here and you will not be disappointed.

They serve cactus, salsas and a plate of radish/cucumber/limes on the side.

Service was great, portions were big.

The best of low-end mexican faire. Get ready for generous portions, rich flavors, street-food prices, and a line to get a table. Don't worry, it moves fast. The restaurant has 2 levels.

Truely authentic Mexican place to visit. There was a line of 33 people in front of us and it took less than 30 min to get a table.
We ordered Taco Loco and Arrachera Nortena Queso y Chorizo wit 2 beers.
For starters they brought some spicy sauces, salsa, cucumber, lime and raddish slices and cactus?
Also some bean soup and torilla chips came before the meals. I think they are a side to Taco Loco. We quite liked it.
The meals themselves were really tasty and big enough to get you properly filled even if you are quite hungry.
All in all I am really happy we found this place

This is what authenticity tastes like. Amazing food and a great selection of drinks. Tourist or local, you will definitely enjoy the high quality of food at this very establishment. P.S. Try the sirloin taco; you will thank me laster

You cannot beat the food here. And highly recommend getting the “ take home” it’s $30 Canadian and it’s massive. Fed 2 of us for 3 meals. Comes w fresh tortillas, onions and cilantro, hot sauce and salsa.

We have been in Mexico for 3 days and have already made our second trip to El Fogon. This place is awesome. The food was amazing. It’s a must go for anyone that’s wants great food.

We make this our priority every time we come to Mexico. This is our 3rd time eating here. Excellent food and service!

As a party of 4 we had the mixed grill for 4 - ample servings of a variety of meats plus a white bean soup as a starter. All dishes were delicious and were served quickly. A definite do over.

Everyone (taxi drivers, some locals, and expats) we came across in town, they all recommended this place. The place is always packed and you will notice a mixed crowd of many locals and tourists. If you’re coming from 5th ave, it’s a bit walk but their pastor taco is a must have. It’s cheap and they accept card so what are you waiting for?!

Good size portions. The agua fresca is great and more than 2 or 3 choices. It's a bit too noisy for me. Usually a little wait for a table but not too long. Staff is efficient and friendly.

Affordable, delicious, with a great atmosphere. Nothing bad to say about El Fogón after many many visits.

The meats are flavorful, the tortillas are always fresh, the limonadas are some of the best in Playa in my opinion.

Both locals and tourists love this place for excellent Mexican food. The pastor tacos and chorizo are some of the best I have in Playa del Carmen. Worth the brief walk away from the main tourist area for an affordable, delicious meal.
