Hotel Riu Yucatan

I am a travel advisor and I sent my clients to the Riu Yucatan from March 6-11, 2024. I just called them and they raved about the resort!

They emphasized how clean everything was. They were very impressed with that. The original room they were assigned was far away, and my clients have some mobility issues, so the hotel was amazing and moved them to a more centrally located room. They said the service at the Riu Yucatan was excellent!

When they arrived at their room, they said there were rose petals on the bed and chocolates in the room which they loved. They also got to watch wild monkeys playing near their balcony.

This resort is a great choice, especially for those with a more mid-sized budget. I will definitely send clients back.

Santiago and Dysner in the dining room will take excellent care of you. Love the lobby in the hotel.

Gorgeous beaches & clean property. Activity employees are superb! The cleaning crew is a 24-hour operation. Bartenders are fun & friendly. Wait staff is top-notch. Gym was clean & easy to use with complimentary towels & bottled water. There are plenty of food options.

I travel A-Lot. The Riu Yukatan was fantastic. The food was top shelf, the staff was top shelf+ I ate my weight in tacos and cheese. I’m not a party person but
we actually had fun at the Friday party. In particular we enjoyed the Ibiza pool with Juan and Damien. It was very calm and relaxing. If I could live here, I would.

First time in Mexico , couldn’t have picked a better location. The hotel is very nice with plenty of food options and bars too , 3 pools to choose from and the beach is in front of the hotel. Drinks did feel slightly weaker than usual but all inclusive hotels generally do . Rooms were clean and tidy but are due an update soon , we will be back shortly

Great place, beautiful clean beach with palm trees, providing pleasant shade. There are charming shops, car rentals and restaurants nearby. Safe and intimate. There is a place to walk along the streets inside the hotel zone. Beautifully kept nature and animals, such as monkeys, coatis and capybaras.

Brilliant Tiu holiday. Second time at this hotel, the first was pre-covid. Standards have been maintained, food excellent.
Every room has its own bar with 4 optics, beer, and mixers. Free as part of the all inclusive package.
Wild spider monkeys and howler monkies are free in the trees and coati and agouti groups wander the paths and lawns. We spotted a racoon around 11pm one night.
The sea is blue with lots of fish, the beach is clean and white with lots of sunbeds amongst palm trees.
Great place for a total wind down and chill out!
We went during term time so only a few children mostly under t were there. Heaven!

Amazing Resort! Great friendly staff. Clean beaches and rooms.
Fun nightlife and great entertainment!
Will be coming back!

I didn't stay at this hotel, I stayed at the RIU Tequila. It was great to visit to see the monkeys and have a drink as it was closer to the beach. In fact, all the RIU hotels are amazing.

Beautiful grounds and location. Great & friendly service. Some folks complain that some parts are "dated" but that adds to some of the charm. There are more details and character than some of the newer locations.

Like many Riu hotels, this one is no exception in terms of good quality. The service and food exceed my expectations, and the staff are friendly and hard-working. The beach and pool entertainment programs are also enjoyable.

We arrived on December 13, and our rooms were ready . We had requested ground floor if possible, we had grandparents with us and didn’t want them having to do the stairs.
We all had ground floor rooms and they were all next to each other which was nice. My husband and I had to switch our room after the first night because the AC was not very good. Front desk was most helpful and moved us right then, the desk agent even gave me two room keys for two options on rooms. Told me to go look at both and pick which worked best , loved that he did that.
Loved also that the grounds were all decorated for the Christmas Holiday, made our stay that much more festive.
Beach- absolutely Gorgeous, so big, lots of lounge chairs. Soft sand, we had water shoes, but you really didn’t need them. I do recommend floats for lounging in the ocean, makes it so relaxing. A lot of beach activities if you wanted to join in. Cozumel is visible from this hotel, which is also pretty neat.
Entertainment- the Entertainment staff is great. Erik, Gustavo, Maria, Lupita and more, always working an engaging people to have fun if they want to. The nightly entertainment is great, loved the Silent Disco Night, was so much fun.
We did the White Party at the neighboring RIU Tequila, they go all out, was so much fun. We didn’t go to The Neon Party the next Friday because we were leaving on the 23rd, some new friends went and said it was awesome.
Housekeeping was wonderful, and using the RIU app was great for requesting services or items to your room.
Bartenders - Manuel, Alex, Filberto, Falcon at the Lobby bar, wonderful
Neri and others at the main pool bars were wonderful as well.
Yurani, down by the main pool kept all the restrooms in tip top shape, and was always sweeping and cleaning by the pool bar areas and Pepe’s , always had a smile and greeting, she is definitely an important part of the RIU staff and deserves recognition.
Food- loved all the food, and if I didn’t care for something, just got something different. The buffet for breakfast and dinner was wonderful. So much variety, they would have the same base thing , but also add a bunch of different stuff each day. All very good. The buffet for lunch by the main pool was very good as well.
Pepe’s poolside food was a great option as well .
Tried the steakhouse, must try the ribs :-)
The Asian, The Italian, all good, didn’t get to the Mexican, quite honestly the Buffet called to us each night , so we forced ourselves to go to the restaurants. We would end the night at the buffet for desserts, ice cream and chocolate fountain;-D
Felt very safe there, you are in a secure gated community and walking around to get to the other hotels or some small shops was not a problem to worry about.
Also, the monkey’s , Coatis, Agouti and occasionally a raccoon were fun to see. Just don’t feed the monkeys , I wasn’t , but was near someone that was and one of them little monkey boogers tried to steal my phone as I was videoing , guess when they see something in a hand they think it’s food.
Already planning our trip back for December 2024 and will be staying 11 nights, because 10 just isn’t enough. Might even sneak in a trip before then.

I had an incredible experience at Riu Yucatán, thanks to the outstanding entertainment team, particularly Gustavo. His energy and enthusiasm in engaging guests in activities made our stay truly memorable. Gustavo's dedication to creating a lively atmosphere enhanced the overall enjoyment of our time at the resort. I highly commend him and the entire entertainment team for making our stay here absolutely awesome. Five stars all the way!

Have everything you need in one place. Beautiful on the beach location. Staff caters to all your needs.

This is by far the best hotel I've stayed at in Mexico. Beautiful scenery. Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff. Great food.
The beach front is large and lovely. The pool area is large enough to cope.
Everything is close enough, the pool and beach is just a short walk through the jungle area.
If you don't get to see the monkeys, you will definitely hear them at some point. Wild life is everywhere but never threatening.

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. Everything is close buy. The rooms are great, they are large. The room has optics with 4 different brands of drinks in them. The fridge is filled daily, with water, beers, tonic, Pepsi and 7up. The restaurants are great. You don't have to book any of them, you just turn up and if they are full they give you a buzzer when a table becomes free. There are 4 restaurants and a buffet restaurant. The beach is lovely. There are lots of sunbeds. The sunrise is amazing. The staff are lovely and friendly. The hotel is very clean. The only thing I didn't like was the little shop in the hotel. The prices are very high, but the thing I didn't like was the lady in the shop came out stood next to me while I was looking at things, just followed me around I felt like a criminal. Won't be going in there again. But everything else is amazing. 😁

Amazing experience. Great food, atmosphere, staff and very clean. No mosquito either and the beach was amazing. Great entertainment aswell!

The resort is beautiful and the staff are excellent. Leo and Santos at the pool bar are awesome and some of the nicest staff we have met at any resort!! The grounds are beautiful with animals from agoutis, monkeys, and coatis. The beach is beautiful and there is plenty of seating on the beach and pool areas. The staff are excellent so I wish more people were accustomed to tipping! Housekeeping does a great job of keeping up with the rooms and we loved the towels placed on the bed in the shape of different animals etc. The RIU party at the Tequila is great for couples who want to dance and listen to some music on Friday night it was a lot of fun. The resort sits on a beautiful location near other resorts and RIUs in addition to a small shopping center in walking distance. There is a taco stand in the nearby area which is excellent! We cannot wait to return next year.
