Excellence Playa Mujeres

I recently vacationed to Excellence Playa Mujeres with some girlfriends to celebrate our 40th, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. The stay was nothing short of amazing. The rooms were spotless and had spacious balconies, the grounds were beautiful and well kept, and the food at each restaurant was spectacular (cocktails were great too!). But above all, it’s staff that make this resort one of a kind. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. In a resort where hundreds of people are constantly coming and going, it amazed me how they were able to make us feel like true VIPs. With all the little extras and unique touches, and the attention they gave us, we felt like we were the only people staying there.

Special thanks to Rafael who has a gift when it comes to hospitality – it’s not an easy task to satisfy three girls with very high-expectations, but he did it with grace and patience 😊 and truly became a friend. Lizbeth and the staff at Lobster House always made us feel like family, and that became one of our favorite places to enjoy lunch with the gorgeous view and delicious fresh food (and tequila!). Do yourself a favor and book a spa appointment – the massages were outstanding, and the hydrotherapy was such a fun experience (thanks to the gentleman who took care of us at the spa). I wish I could remember the names of every single staff member, as each and every one of them contributed to the fond memories we have of this vacation. I will always be grateful for how kind they treated us. Thanks to everyone at Excellence for making this a trip of a lifetime – can’t wait to be back!

Amazing service and accommodations. Food was also very delicious at all the restaurants. Bar service at the beach, pools and swim up bar was on point and speedy. Drinks also tasted amazing. Mario who assisted us with various drinks by the pool was very nice, thoughtful and caring. Couldn’t ask for a better trip with the family. Would highly recommend this resort and all the amenities they had to offer. Will most certainly revisit.

We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon April 2024 and had the absolute best experience. We were excellence club and would recommend 1000/10. We were nervous after reading some reviews off facebook pages, but we found nothing we read to be true. Some of our favorite employees were sully and Victor from the excellence club beach access were great; Cesar from building 9 excellence club pool was amazing and greeted us with a smile every day as well as Ramon the drink guy being 10/10; Jorge from excellence club bar was AMAZING!! He was our favorite bar tender and so funny and personable; Naomi with the activities at sol bar was also amazing and had a great personality! Overall we give this place 10/10!! We had 1 mix up with our breakfast in bed not being delivered, but they fixed it ASAP once we discussed the matter with them. We cannot wait to visit again and will most definitely be returning soon!!

This is a short review I am going to leave a more detailed overall review later. This is for my man Josue and Kayla. The absolutely killed it with their service at the excellence club beach area. From margarita monkeys to holding down the fort while we ran off to jet ski 🌊 to coming back and having our names and happy honeymoon drawn for us in sand! This place and these people are nothing short of amazing. Happy as well to be sharing in these experiences with the love of my life and my new wife! Thanks guys and everyone for making this so memorable and worth it! The upgrade to Excellence club is super worth it! 💜👍🏼

This was our first time to Mexico and our first time at an Excellence resort. We picked this resort for our honeymoon after reading many different reviews of all of the resorts in Mexico. I cannot say enough good things about this resort and about the staff. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and pristine and the atmosphere is fantastic. There is never a shortage of fun activities and ways to spend your days whether you are a beach or pool person. We had an Excellence Club level room which was amazing with the roof top terrace plunge pool. Sully the Excellence Club beach concierge is so wonderful and we loved seeing her smiling face everyday that we were on the beach. She is simply the best and makes sure you are well taken care of. The restaurants and food are all fabulous. The Lobster House for breakfast was our favourite; the staff are very kind and attentive. The Mexican fiesta at the plaza was such a unique experience with amazing food and entertainment. You can tell that the staff love working here as they put so much effort into everything that they do. We will absolutely be back again to spend another week in paradise !

We have had the absolute best time here! Everyone is so amazing. Josue, Diant, and Alejandro have provided the most excellent service at the excellence club amenities, we are so grateful! Their attention to detail is unmatched. We feel so taken care of!
Cannot thank everyone here enough for how hard they work and how hospitable they are. They will do anything for you! We 100% understand how people have come here 10+ times. The food and service are outstanding, the pools are immaculate, and everyone has been so kind. It really is paradise!

This was my first visit and I will be back. The service I received from everyone was the best! Josue and Kayla at the beach were wonderful. Had my lounge chair always ready for me in the shade. My son and daughter-in-law were married here and all of the arrangements were perfect. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Already thinking of when I can book my next trip!

It was my wife's birthday that we were celebrating and the pool concierge team was so so nice. A day before, they coordinated with me to set up a surprise for my wife's birthday and the exact time for us to be at the pool.
They brought in champagne and a cake and made such wonderful sand art for my wife. My wife was truly surprised and enjoyed every moment of it.
The team really went above and beyond.
Thank you Mario, Cesar, Josue, Keila, Sully and Victor. You all truly made it special!

Edit - on our last day Mario arranged our parting gift. Sad monkeys an incredible drink in a coconut to say goodbye. Thank you Mario for making us feel so welcome in the excellence club section for building 9

We had a great trip to Excellence Playa Mujeres. We were very happy to see Lorena again at Magma! We made new friends at the beach. Alexandro and Sully were fantastic, always smiling and ready to help us. We had great conversation with them. Sully made us a magnificent drawing for our last day and Alexandro brought us a drink in a little cocoon monkey. They made a big difference in our trip. Hoping to see them again on our next trip. We have stayed at this resort multiple times and we love it. Great service with the best all-inclusive offering we have ever experienced. We recommend this resort for couples looking for a romantic (and fun) place to celebrate their wedding, honeymoon or anniversary. The resort will not disappoint you and the staff will make you feel at home. Cesar, Floricel, Jacqueline… they are excellent professionals. 5 stars!!

My husband and I (I’m now Rachael Jelosek) spent our 1st anniversary in paradise at Excellence Playa Mujeres and had the time of our lives! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing during the day, and the parties are fun ( and not overly obnoxious at night)! We felt like celebrities thanks to the staff, particularly thanks to Jacqueline, and also much thanks to Sully and Victor, our beach concierges. We decided on Excellence per recommendation from our parents, who also had a wonderful time vacationing here. Thank you Excellence Playa Mujeres! You made our 1st anniversary a wonderful and memorable celebration. 🫶🏻🥂

We are currently at EPM and have been here many times. It continues to check off all of the boxes which has us returning twice a year.

While many resorts can be good, Excellence stands out due to the staff. The GM, Asst GM, Guest Service Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager could not be more attentive and are genuinely interested in providing guests with an exceptional experience.

There are plenty of restaurant options with some really great food and the live entertainment is varied and fun.

There are a lot of choices out where, but Excellence tops the list.

We came for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time! Every worker has a smile on their face and seems genuinely glad to assist.

My favorite restaurants were Spice (can’t recall our server’s name, but he took our preferences down and came out with a variety of delicious stuff that we loved!), Chez Isabelle, and Kitchen Table for lunch.

All the bars and restaurants were fantastic, and service across the board spectacular.

Everyone knows Cesar at the Martini Bar is the MAN! He makes fantastic drinks and just watching him work is art. Mauricio at Aroma Coffee Shop was my absolute favorite employee— he went above and beyond and remembered our go-to drinks every time! I wish we had Mauricio at our local coffee shop back home!

I booked a massage for my husband’s birthday and he enjoyed it! The spa is very soothing and the services are quite nice. The room was beautiful (building 4, 3rd floor) and our housekeepers were fantastic— it felt like when we left for just half an hour or so our room had been cleaned up! They even left a little birthday cake for my husband.

We had a wonderful time at fiesta night!

The main pool is more of a party vibe, and the others are more of a relaxed vibe. It’s nice to bounce between both!

Anything that wasn’t absolutely perfect wasn’t even worth fussing about.

It took us about 24 hours to begin our planning for next year’s Excellence trip. We had a fantastic time.

We just returned from our honeymoon at the Excellence and we cannot say enough good things about our visit! First off, the view from our ocean view suite was breathtaking. Housekeeping was timely and very detail oriented.

Also, the service from the waiters, bartenders and pool/beach attendance was five star. We had such a great time at the pool every day and the experience at every restaurant was great. The only thing underwhelming was the room service food.

We notified the staff that it was our honeymoon and they pulled out all the stops to make it feel special. For anyone going for their honeymoon/anniversary MAKE SURE you take advantage of the complimentary romantic dinner. Absolutely spectacular.

What an unforgettable experience!!! First time at an all-inclusive resort and I am not disappointed! I will definitely return one day. All of the restaurants have been amazing but my personal favorite for dinner was The Grill. Thank you to everyone who made this experience amazing.

The best resort and the best staff and service! Sully went above and beyond for us in every way on the beach! She was precious and wonderful throughout our stay!!
We also love Luis at The Kitchen Table! He is the best server for breakfast, and he always makes our days start wonderful!

This was our second trip to an Excellence property, and this was far and above the most outstanding service we have ever had while traveling!! I have always grown up treating everyone with respect no matter where they work, but the amazing staff here actually takes the time to learn your names, greets you at every turn and is just the most genuine and friendly employees I have ever met. Our building 9 pool attendant Cesar was attentive, friendly, and respectful at all times and this man deserves a raise!!!!! Also Sully from EC beach was the greatest, she went out of her way to make the beach experience outstanding, had the best smiling, happy personality and made absolutely sure we and all guests around us feel special. It was our 15th anniversary as well as my birthday on Wednesday and Sully, Gustavo, Cesar, and Mario sang happy birthday, provided sand art and a cake. Was absolutely above and beyond what we would have expected. And for that we are grateful.

Addition to this review, our concierge asked what we were doing for dinner on this our last night. We had never ate at The Grill before so that was going to be our last meal. She very nicely suggested that she would make us a “reservation”/add us to the wait list for 630pm which is what we wanted. We ordered our normal apps, soup, and entrees. The grilled octopus was very good. The beef consume was out standing, to be honest you could have left out the beef and vegetables and I could have drank a gallon of that consume for sure…… while waiting for our entrees the manager (maybe) came and asked us how we wanted out lobster tails (not on the menu) with our meal. Our entrees became surf and turf out of nowhere and was amazing but so much food!!!!!
Again this resort is beautiful, phenomenal restaurant choices, but it’s the staff from grounds crew saying hi when you walk by, to the pool and beach attendants making you feel home. Another shout out to EC beach Sully, Gustavo and pool 9 attendants Cesar, Mario, Roman. Without them this resort would have been like any other!!!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous place. We went for our honeymoon. Great food at all the restaurants. Great servers everywhere. Great staff. My only complaint is the nightly shows. They are VERY loud, I think it has to do with the acoustics in the theater. They need a comedy show. They had great live music. The beach is breathtaking. We alternated between the main pool and beach day to day. You have to get down there EARLY and save a seat, otherwise you will be forced to go to one of the other pools. The servers will always find you and offer to bring you drinks/food. I would definitely recommend this resort. We went for 10 days, and it seemed like the perfect amount of time I think 1 week would not be long enough.

Really great experience. The staff was exceptional. We don’t love a lot of attention, and they were great at reading our vibe. We did the excellence club and it was worth it for us— private check in, extra pools, private beach area, and an extra bar/restaurant. Sully was our excellence club concierge on the beach and she was amazing! So kind and attentive. She even insisted on cleaning our sunglasses before we left the beach. I’m not a huge spa person, but I’ve been to some good ones in the DC area and the spa here was the best I’ve been to. Aqua therapy session (which you can do as a couple or individually) was so nice and included with the excellence club. Sharon was the woman in the spa who guided us through the hydro therapy and she was really great! Massage (not included) was amazing as well!

Great resort with friendly staff! Victor and Yessi at the Excellence Club pool were great. Manuel at the pool bar and Jorge at the Club Lounge bar make great drinks. If you upgrade to the Excellence Club, make sure you find the EC pools and beach area. The staff will take great care of you and provide complimentary sunscreen. Overall great experience.
