Hotel Grand Riviera Princess

We stayed at this resort for 7 days and had an incredible time. Everything from the food, drinks, rooms and beach are excellent. And the nightly entertainment is phenomenal featuring amazingly talented performers.
The staff is extremely friendly and the resort has lots of daily activities available for those who wish to keep busy and have fun during the day.
If you want to do an excursion, there are countless options available right at your fingertips.

Do not listen to the negative reviews. Those are clearly posted by people who are simply never happy and find ways to complain about everything.
Do yourself a favour and book a trip to this resort. You will not regret it!

I have had such a wonderful experience at the resort. The food has been excellent, the rooms are large and clean. But, the most notable thing has been the incredible staff.

Tonight, our party went to La Hacienda for dinner. The service was wonderful, but there was a standout among them. Hugo provided the best dining experience of my life, he was so funny, while being knowledgeable and creating such a fun atmosphere. If you stay, I highly recommend trying to get a reservation here. The food was great, but the vibes were immaculate.

Editing to add: today is my departure day, and I had a bell boy bring my suitcase to the lobby. If you’re lucky enough to get Eduardo Sanchez, know that you’re going to receive the best care. He not only carried my admittedly very heavy bag with care, he immediately offered me a ride on the shuttle. When he happened across some monkeys he paused so I could enjoy them. He’s another shining example of how lovely the staff is here!

Stayed 1 week in February 24 and loved every moment of my holiday! Food is excellent and plentiful and has the most varied buffet out of all the other hotels. Gym has all of the basic equipment required. Place is very clean and is very big. Would like to thank Maria, the waitress at the French restaurant for her excellent service. I will certainly go back to this hotel

My husband I just spent a week at the Riviera Princess and couldn't be more pleased. The grounds were beautiful and the food was delicious (I ate fresh tacos -- choice of shredded beef, pork, chicken or fish -- EVERY day at the pool. There are 7 restaurants to choose from besides the pool grills and traditional buffets, and we ate at every one of them except the Italian (however I heard that was delicious as well). And as far as the customer service is concerned, I've never experienced such perfection! I had connected with the concierge prior to our visit and we corresponded through email a few times about some requests I had prior to our arrival. EVERYTHING was fantastic, and we definitely plan on going back again soon, probably at Christmas!

1. Accommodations:
Room was in the platinum section of grand riviera princess . Got top accommodation as this location is closest to the beach. Room was super clean. Maid cleaned daily and bed was super comfortable. Got ocean view.

2. Hospitality and Service:

Hugo at the platinum bar is awesome. Every worker was super hospitable. No complaints.

3. Amenities and Facilities:
A lot of pools = lots of space to have fun.
Restaurants were great. Food was amazing . Try to go once they open for breakfast/lunch /dinner so you get a special dish made at the buffet .

Entertainment every day were impressive.
Neon show, fire show, silent party, mariachis, shows for kids.

Highly recommend going with the family . Massive resort / ample space for everybody to enjoy and have fun.

We booked a week in the Platinum section in November. We travelled with parents and kids. We could NOT have had a better time. The rooms were clean, the food was fabulous (and plenty of selection). I admit we spent 90% of our time at the Platinum pool and had the absolute best service. Isabel not only provided everything we could dream of, but she became a friend. Samuel and Carlos Jesus also helped to make our experience wonderful. We are so glad we stayed and had incredible staff that made our stay and memories very special.

We had a fantastic stay! The room, facilities and beach are gorgeous, but the true standout is the staff. Everyone is kind and helpful and then there are those that make you feel like family. Most especially Martin!!! The best trolley driver on the planet! Our kids are more sad about saying bye to him than they are the beach!

Great experience for the first time! Pedro at La Hacienda ( Mexican restaurant to book) was fun and attentive. Food was delicious too.

Most service people here are good and friendly. The lobby bar service was a hit or miss depending on who you got.
The beach was a walk, but didn't mind it at all. Clean place and overall great! Not far from Playa del Carmen and transport was easy to get there and back.

We recently stayed at this resort. Before booking, we read several negative reviews about it, as typically seen with most resorts.
That being said, we were impressed with the overall experience, especially the service from all staff. They were all polite and very organized in all areas of service(buffet, housekeeping, and property management)
A special shout out to ULICES, our waiter at the "La Hacienda" restaurant. He was super polite, but most of all, he was genuine in our interactions throughout the night. He made special accommodations for our picky eating preferences and was very professional. It was a heartwarming experience meeting him...
There were things about the resort that perhaps could use some improvements, such as the nightly entertainment and the lack of a food station where fish, seafood, or beef is cooked to order in the buffet. Instead, most of the food was prepared earlier and for some was too salty, over or undercooked(not a big issue for most people, as there was a large variety of food and fruits to choose from).
The major item of concern at this resort would be if you don't like animals. This resort may not be for you, as there were monkeys, raccoon like animals, deer, cats, and other animals that roam the resort. We loved this part of it, as it felt like being in a zoo.
If you are booking this resort, ask for a room away from the main area. We stayed in room 7220, and it was super quiet and peaceful.
Anyway, a big thank you to all staff for working hard to make our stay enjoyable❤

We met family from across Canada here for a New Years gathering. Our family is not really into all inclusive resorts. But if we had to choose one, this one was excellent. The food was typical resort food, but it was good. The entertainment was good and plentiful. The pools were excellent and clean. There were many cool animals all over the resort, cats, monkeys, deer, other animals I did not know. The staff were all great and friendly. There was a shuttle to Playa del Carmen that was cheap and frequent. I would highly recommend this place if you like all inclusive resorts. Nothing to complain about. Our kids had a blast.

Our second two week stay. Absolutely love this place. Great walks, good food, great french restaurant. Staff seem happy, the way they get along. It's a big place, constant cleaning and groundskeeping going on, so it's pretty much spotless. Only thing I'd say is the house wine is lousy. Spanish people own the resort, you'd think they could find a decent bottle somewhere in Spain!

I had a wonderful experience at Grand Princess Riviera. I have been to Cancun 3 other times and I would say that although this hotel is a bit on the older side, it kept me extremely satisfied through my whole trip. My husband and I opted for the platinum services and we enjoyed all that it had to offer. I usually do not indulge too much in the alcoholic beverages because it’s either too strong, made poorly, or just tastes cheap but all of their alcoholic beverages were delicious. The beach was well kept and beautiful this time of year, very very minimal seaweed. It felt like I was on my own private beach. I will definitely consider returning to this resort. I also would like to give a special thanks to Rodolfo Gonzales Torres at La Hacienda for going above and beyond and delivering gold star services.

We stayed 6 nights in the platinum section of the resort and we enjoyed it. The restaurants were delicious and the staff was attentive. We tried the buffet, tappenyaki, Thai, Mexican, and Italian restaurants. Ciro specifically at La Hacienda was very friendly and extra attentive and careful of my allergy. There are several pools to choose from, the poolside service is great, and the beach is beautiful. I will say that if you prefer a quieter vacation this is not the resort for you as they have 1900 rooms; it is big, loud, and busy. The spa was amazing and my massage with Antonio was great. Leonardo at the front desk of the spa was also very helpful :) Also worth noting: they make great drinks!

This is a wonderful resort! The grounds are beautiful and the staff are really friendly. We had the most amazing meal tonight at Hacienda restaurant. Pedro gave us 5 star service for a meal we will never forget. He was warm and welcoming and anticipated our every need, which wasn’t easy because we had three kids with us. The food was incredible and the service made the night special. Thank you Pedro and the wonderful chefs!

We also loved Anahy at the ice cream parlor. She made wonderful banana splits and was so nice to our kids.

All in all, this resort is spectacular. We highly recommend it to everyone!

Beautiful, wonderful people who truly make you feel special. We stayed at Platinum and the rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds. The beaches are clean and not crowded and we were able to find lounges easily. It was wonderful to come back to the room at the end of the evening and be able to avail of tea/coffee and a sweet before retiring for the evening. The buffets were good and the restaurants we visited was very nice as was our host, Ms R Vaqueria 1. The resort is beautiful the grounds immaculate and personally I loved seeing the animals in their native habitats.
It was our first but not our last visit to beautiful Mexico.

I stayed at the Rivera Princess back in November of 2023 and it was the best trip I’ve ever been on !

Staff was very accommodating and super friendly !

The beach was amazing to relax at and catch some sun !

The drinks were all there and really good!

I stayed in the platinum section so my room was very large, I was able to order room service off the app because I was platinum and get it delivered to my room.

The staff was very professional with delivering the room service.

I met lots of people here and I stay in contact with them to this day!

I highly recommend choosing this resort as your stay in Mexico, I know when I return to Mexico I will be back here !

Excellent resort! It’s well organized and very clean. Food is great everywhere. Tonight we had our dinner at the steak house. It was a great dinner.and our server, Alejandro, was superb. He made us feel special. Thank you Alejandro. You are an amazing and awesome person. All the best to you👍👏👏👏

We're currently staying at the Princess Sunset Grand and we cannot say enough good things about this resort. My fiance and I are here for a week and everything about this resort has blown us away. The grounds are impeccable and so beautiful. The staff are absolute amazing, everyone is so pleasant and their English absolutely puts my Spanish to shame. Big shout out to Luis who has been taking care of us in the Rivera sunset buffet, he is an absolute delight. I have a life threatening peanut allergy, And my fiance is gluten sensitive. We have never been to a resort (and we're seasoned travellers) who take out dietary needs so seriously. They have gone above and beyond, provided us a letter in Spanish to give to all the restaurants informing them of our dietary needs so there is no miscommunication. They've also labeled all the food in the buffet with any allergens which is really nice to see. Beach is gorgeous, everything is amazing. We will absolutely be back.

Beautiful resort. Delicious food with lots of great options. The staff are fantastic, they work extremely hard. Shout out to the staff member Martin who made us feel extremely welcomed!! He was fantastic with kids. Great positive energy which was contagious!!

This was our second trip to The Grand Riviera Princess.

First the good:
Staff are very hardworking and always do their best to make sure everything is taken care of. A particular favourite for us is breakfast at the Chill Out Lounge. Best coffee on the resort and starting our days with freshly squeezed juice and a breakfast made to order is just what every vacation requires. But what made the Chill out exceptional were our servers! I cannot say enough about Absalon, Marciella, Brenda and Idelfonso - always attentive, smiling, and considering they are dealing with hundreds of people every day we were always greeted by our names (I miss my morning fist-bumps and chats with Absalon). These people were exemplary and were a big part of what made our vacation great.

Also, as Villa members we had access to the Laguna pool and it can't go without saying that Fabian, Celsa, Lorena, Jesus (our concierge) and Marilu were absolutely incredible and attentive and again, always greeted by name.

Overall the resort is beautiful and the grounds are kept as close to immaculate as you can get. On our evening walks we always came across staff washing down the walk ways and preparing the pools for the next day. They did an amazing job.

Now for the bad and this is in comparison to a year ago... The food and service in the buffets has taken a serious nose dive. The selection and the quality of the food just isn't what it was. Service declined as well - we often had a stack of plates on the side of our table and water or beverages weren't topped up or even offered when we sat - again a serious decline from a year ago.

Trying to reserve one of the a la carte restaurants was impossible and if it wasn't for the concierge and member services coordinator, I'm not sure we have been able to book any - the app is all but useless. And the food in a la cartes was inconsistent and also has taken a downward slide from last year.

My understanding is that they are presently working without a director and this could account for the issues.

Having said this, it would not be enough to deter me from returning.
