Sunset Fishermen Beach Resort

Look at the color of the ocean. Sandy and warm water. Beautiful! Very laid back place. Bicycles are provided free, if you want to bike into town, Playa Del Carmen.

While Sunset Fishermen is not new to us (we have been members for more than 20 years), our visit in June 2023 was special. Marcial Canul always recognizes us as soon as we arrive from the airport. His memory and quality of costumer service are out of this world. Thank you Marcial for being the friend we are always looking forward to seeing as soon as we get to our home away from home in Playa del Carmen.

One of us has strict dietary restrictions, which makes it challenging eating out. Well, as soon as Michelle Lucio, the Member Services Manager informed Kevin Aguilar, the Food & Beverages Manager right on the day of our arrival about our dietary needs, he ensured that alternatives from the menu were offered to us meeting our eating requirements. Every time we were greeted at our table by the most friendly and professional team of servers. Noé, Guillermo, and Samara were always ready to suggest the most delicious meals and beverages and offer alternatives from the themed-menu that changed every day, while accommodating our restrictive regime.

Every morning and evening, any of the outstanding team of cooks: Josué, Prudencia, or Vanessa would craft an incredible edible experience that indulged our senses. Chef José Adamaro made sure everything was safe for us and that every single detail was covered for us to enjoy a great culinary experience.

One of us happened to celebrate their birthday during our visit at Sunset Fishermen. The whole team went above and beyond to organize a memorable surprise dinner party at our table. Even a special cake was baked so that all of us could enjoy it! The whole team participated singing the Mexican birthday song, “Las mañanitas.¨ It felt like a family party… our Sunset Fishermen family.

During the day, every time we relaxed by and in the pool, Wendy González and Víctor Chi, the stellar bartenders, took care of our hydration levels preparing delicious and refreshing libations, including alcohol free ones!

Our vacation could not be completed without the mandated visit to the spa. The entire team of masseurs and masseuses truly makes all tension vanish and the combination with aromatherapy and the soothing music complements a deep relaxing experience.

We are grateful to the Sunset Fishermen family for providing extraordinary quality service. We can’t wait for our visit this year! See you soon!

We have been visiting Fisherman’s over the last 15 years - and extended family have been visiting for over 25 years.

The staff here are so lovable! They are friendly and sweet, always looking to help and make your experience top notch. Resort is clean, easy to navigate, has spa/gym, and swim-up bar. Food has been fantastic and atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Also must acknowledge the perfect location in Playacar. Gated, private residences (for the most part), quick 15 min walk to 5th Ave in playa del Carmen - in case you want to experience the night life in the right doses 😉

We rented a condo unit thru Airbnb, Alfredo's unit. What a great experience, location & amenities. Highly recommend this area in Playacar fase 1

An incredibly beautiful hotel that is on the smaller side with great food and a well planned pool. Close enough to town for an easy walk or a relaxing walk on the beach.

We visited with our family and had a great time. The staff is what really sets Sunset Fisherman apart from others. We found each and every staff member to be cordial and as helpful as humanly possible.

We had a small issue with our A/C which was promptly dealt with and then later in the day after we returned to our room the desk manager and maintenance worker personally sought me out to assure I was satisfied. I was just so impressed with the extra attention. Mind you this was hours and hours after our complaint, they came ready not only to make sure I was happy bur ready to do whatever else was need if I was not. That is service you just do not see anywhere nowadays.

We found the property to be in excellent condition and with a new towel sculpture every day to admire just made it all the more special. Can't wait until we have the opportunity to return.

The staff was wonderful with our large group of 13! Great for families and couples. There were multiple staff members who went above and beyond for our group and made this family vacation amazing! The beach is beautiful and large. The pool and swim-up bar are awesome!

Great small boutique resort nice and quiet. Traded in thru RCI so were asked the usual question regarding timeshare sales pitch which we declined. Never heard a word about it after that. Kind if nice not to be badgersd to go listen to the speil!! Only regret is we can't book back in with RCI for several years.

Still the most beautiful place in playa. People are great and breeze and ocean is spectacular.

Relaxing and beautiful resort. Was a little disconcerted when front desk " could not run my card right now," but nothing came of it.

Amenities, pool, beach were up to standards, and we found a parking space 90% of the time.

We've visited the Sunset Fisherman a few times, but only staying for the day, while we stay at one of their sister resorts. The setup here with the pool overlooking the ocean is phenomenal. The swim up bar, and huge hot tub are great, and the food is good at the poolside grill.

It's also close to downtown Playa del Carmen, so it's easy to get into town from here. We'd love to stay here someday.

Good location not overly busy and right on the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful and good to have a bit of fun with. Food good drinks cold service friendly and not super overpriced for a resort. Pool nice and a bit of green around as well. Rooms spacious and clean.

Been going here for years. Love it food is much improved. Pool was ice cold...could not swim it.

I have say Rigoberto was a fabulous waiter who always goes above and beyond. Freddy and Eric the bartenders were great. The activity directors were not very good at providing things to do especially during such a rainy week. Not too many activities. And I have to mention Bruno who is always willing to help.

If you want a quiet, relaxing and peaceful place to stay in playa del Carmen, this is the place. Great staff, great food….the chef is amazing!!!…Victor, Rigoberto, Ingrid, Jesus, Gerardo, Javier. thank you!! You are the best.

This place was so awesome. The location is quite, beautiful and off a secure access road. The street has ruins along the street with wildlife and jungle, but still walking distance to shops. The staff was so great. They are all over your needs and very friendly. The staff is really what makes this place stand above all other places in the area. I have to put it out there that tipping is not mandatory, but you should. The staff works so hard to make your stay perfect, there is only one way to really tell them how great they are doing. If you are on the fence between another resort, this is best place I have ever stayed.

What makes a great resort are the people!
Everyone, especially the food and room service people, are very nice and polite to us!
The grounds are so clean and well kept, the workers are up at sunrise working on the pool and grounds, so friendly and happy to see us!

Stayed at Sunset Fishermen for my very first trip to Mexico and I cannot wait to return. The staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone is beyond friendly and so very helpful. They truly make you feel like you're special and treat you as if you are family. The food was wonderful...top notch. Every meal was full of flavor and presentation was that of a 5 star restaurant. The beach was kept clean and clear of sargazo (which did not bother us anyway!) and was a beautiful place to relax our week away. The facility is just all around fantastic! We look forward to our next visit!!

A classic timeshare location now open via other booking options. Staff was very accommodating and interested in your stay being as pleasant as possible. Interesting towel creatures greet you in the afternoons after returning a from a walk to town. Food was delightful and definitely has improved from the last time we visited. We really appreciate the airport shuttle making this stay and easy choice.

I wish I could add even more than 5 stars. This is by far the best resort I have stayed at in Playa del Carmen. The staff is friendly, speaks great English, the food at the restaurant is a great combo of local and international choices. The pool and the proximity to the beach are ideal. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and Clean! The y have great community activities everyday. My favorite was the margarita making class! They have great prices on excursions and an English speaking rep to support you making all the arrangements between the event tickets/fees and transportation to and from. Can't say enough about how great this place is, including the community of people who visit this place annually.

The staff is SO ATTENTIVE! I visited with friends for a week in September & loved my experience. They make you feel like part of their Sunset family! The staff, the security team & the management are caring & kind & totally focused on making your stay a wonderful experience. Thank you ALL for a delightful trip!
