Carboncitos

We enjoy Carboncitos every time we come to Playa del Carmen. Their 2 for 1 margaritas from 4pm to 6pm are great for a hot afternoon. And their fajitas and tacos are delicious! Abraham and Fransisco are so friendly and greet us with huge smiles. They bring the margaritas stacked 2 high on top of their heads - which is always entertaining!

I’m very glad we found this place while on vacation. We stayed at an all inclusive so we didn’t know if we wanted to eat in town, but the food, service, and atmosphere were excellent! I especially appreciated our server who took the time to explain everything and make recommendations.

Pictured below - Negroni, Espresso Martini, Coconut Shrimp (so good), Chicken Tacos, and Fish of the Day Veracruzana Style (one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had).

Notes for travelers:
- they didn’t take credit card
- they converted the total to US dollars and Euros on the bill
- it was easy to find a taxi afterwards

I can not recommend enough! came here to get out of the rain and order some tortilla soup, and had some of the best service and atmosphere I could have asked for while dining alone. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the food was great. I will be back next time i’m in playa!

We had dinner here last night, and it was exactly what we were looking for: amazing food for the right price! The menu has a great variety, but we went for local Mexican cuisine, which was excellent! The service was very friendly and they offer Happy hour drinks! The location is very chill, and they had a live singer enchant us with her voice as we ate our meal. I would come back here again on my next visit to Playa del Carmen. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing. The guacamole app was delicious. You can see the ocean from the patio!

Best burrito I've had since being here. We've been here for 3 weeks and have tried so many different places. This is for sure a spot to come back to.

Of all the meals served in Playa del Carmen, these were the most beautiful and delicious. I wish we'd stopped there earlier in our week so we were able to come back a second time.

This place DOES TAKE CREDIT CARDS! I asked numerous times to be sure and they do, they just have not updated their online and menu information. Don’t let this stop you, the food is a must!

If I could give this restaurant 6 stars, I would. It was hands down some of the best food I’ve had in recent memory. Just look at these pictures…

The waiters knew what time the sun hit certain tables and moved fans and tables to make us comfortable.

They laugh, and took care of every need. They are incredibly focused on good service.

Had a wonderful dinner here! Ordered the fajitas and guacamole and had the banana fosters for dessert. Everything was lovely, including the staff who was friendly and outgoing. Also Loved that it wasn’t right on the main street - the atmosphere was more relaxed and less chaotic.

My favorite place in Playa. I’ve been coming here for at least 12 years. I tried to go on Monday and they were closed for the holiday and I was afraid something happened. I was so relieved to see them tonight. Same great drinks and food except the fried cheese is gone. I’ll definitely be back before this trip is over. Such nice people, too!

For the week I was in Playa I found this restaurant to be a hidden gem. The service was great, staff was friendly, food was delicious and not to mention, reasonably priced compared to other restaurants on 5th street. My octopus tacos were tender, well seasoned and a large portion. I will definitely go back if I'm in playa again!

I came here for dinner and had the steak and shrimp fajitas. Nice atmosphere to people watch.

BEST RESTAURANT IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Wow, was so good we ate here 4 times out of 7 nights, we wish we did the other 3. We were staying at Hotel Cielo and lucky for us Carboncitos was attached. First , ....I have never seen a kitchen so clean, look at photo. Steaks delicious, Seafood so fresh better then I've had in US. YOU MUST try their Mayan Food was amazing flavors. My girlfriend ordered a pasta dish and was great or do I dare to say better than many Italian restaurants back home. Great job Carboncitos , in our book you guys are the best restaurant in Playa. OH and forgot to mention the staff, excellent service, a real great team, place is well managed

Absolute must if in Playa! You will not find this quality of food anywhere else in the area. The ambiance, staff and food are all out of this world. We returned this year for our honeymoon after initially coming 7 years ago and will continue to do so every time we visit Mexico. We travel 45mins on bus just to eat here. The steak cooked table side is a must. The owners are also wonderful and very welcoming, their dog Bella will also sing along with near by mariachi bands so you get dinner and show!

Amazing food and super nice service for a great price. The appetizer Shrimp Ceviche is amazing. We ordered the tacos and 3 cheese penne (which they make in front of you). All the food was very filling and worth the price. The server also Carries margaritas on his head! You have to go.

We've been coming to Carboncitos for years, it's our favorite Playa del Carmen restaurant. We can always rely on great margaritas, good food and excellent service. All that and you can watch the parade of people on 5th Ave and enjoy street musicians. Always a fun experience for us.

We ate here on our first night in the area. We started with the mixto ceviche and it was amazing! My daughter had grilled shrimp tacos, my grilled wife fish tacos, and I had the stuffed shrimp, all were great! We also tried the cochinita pibil as a recommendation from our server and it was delightful!! 5 stars, definitely a great place to grab a quick sit down meal!!

We had a delicious Chicken Burrito and Vegetable Fajita. Flavour was great! The service is really friendly and when the waiter brought the drinks, they were standing on his head! Really cool way to get served. Ambiance was lovely.

This little restaurant is fantastic. Food is delicious and the staff was wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the city for 4 days and we go there each day as the food and fabulous margaritas conquered us forever. Luis was our waiter and he is very attentif and friendly. Also he is has a great balance to serve margaritas from his head. All the food that we tried here was excellent and worth every peso. Btw, they accept cash only.
