Ta' consciente

I cannot say enough good things about Ta’consciente! My husband and I have been in playa del Carmen this week celebrating our anniversary and really have loved getting off the resort and trying the local vegan options. Ta’consciente takes the vegan cake people! Like, honestly if you don’t check this place out it will be a major mistake.

First off, we got there around 9:30pm and Jackie set us up with a sample of each filling so that we could decide what we wanted. Every single option was better than the last. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. We ended up about 4 tacos, a sopa and a tostada. Plus some hibiscus agua freca. The service was incredible, helpful and friendly!

Add this spot to your list and go every day if possible.

This. Place. Is. Everything.

If you haven't tried the vegan tacos (and you're vegan and in Playa) ... I don't know who you are and what you're thinking ...

I mean, how can you even call yourself a #VeganPlayan or a #ModernHippy at all!

Do you even realize how hard it is to find a vegan taco place in Mexico ?!

You better run over and check that place off your vegan gourmet foodie tour list.

We loooved the food here. They were nice enough to let us sample the different tacos filling and they were all tasy. Our favorites were al pastor, carrot, seitan and bbq mushroom.

It’s a little difficult to find from the street. Just walk into cafe bajo and continue walking until you see it on the right.

Fantastic vegan tacos! And cheap at 25 peso. Even the non vegans enjoyed them ("if all vegan food tastes this good, I'd consider blah blah blah but I love cheese too much blah blah blah" )

I usually don’t review places but this place goes above and beyond, not only on their incredible food but their humanity and service. The food here makes me miss nothing from my carnivore days and it’s by far the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. if you’re anywhere near Playa Del Carmen this is the place to go!!!!

This hidden gem is a must stop while visiting Playa Del Carmen! I cannot express enough just how amazing the tacos are! Looking for vegetarian options while traveling can sometimes be challenging, and I really wanted to eat so many delicious tacos. I’m so happy we found this place and ate here many times during our holiday. My favourite tacos were the mixed and the el pastor. Service is super quick and friendly, the food is extremely tasty, and the price is so reasonable. My husband eats meat and didn’t miss it at all when we ate here. I only wish they had a location in Canada so we could keep enjoying their delicious food. We just might have to visit Playa again just to eat here. Taconsciente keep doing the amazing things you do, your my happy place!

Excellent place. When we went, the staff person explained the menu and gave some suggestions. My favorite was the "cheese" tacos - but everything we had was great. They have a little fixings bar, where you can add mild, medium or hot salsa according to your taste. It's set back inside a plaza in the same location as peace & bowl. We'll definitely be heading back!

What’s tastier then authentic Mexican flavors mixed with culinary skill and finesse? If you’ve been to Ta’consciente then you know it’s where fresh food meets out of this world goodness. And goodness gracious is the food good. And oh my lawd is the service excellent. And good gawd almighty is this the best place to get vegan tacos. I ordered 7 and went back a second time in one day. Dear baby Jesus...I can’t get enough!

We went to this place twice in two days. The vegan and vegetarian Tacos are delicious and the best way to have a taste of the mexikan cuisine without eating meat. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff is more than friendly helping you to find your favourite Taco. We highly recomend it to everyone whether you are vegan/vegetarian or not :)

Had lunch here today. Amazing vegan tacos! The al pastor taco was particularly good. There’s no reason to eat meat when vegan tastes this good! Cute place, friendly service, and great prices.

Amazing service! We tried almost everything thing, my favorite was the cochinita tacos! The passionfruit pie was incredible! The best pie I ever tried! So fresh and the taste of the crust was amazing! Thank you for offering vegan tacos! We came in this restaurant because it was the closest restaurant to our airbnb and I am glad we tried it out!

Amazing variety for vegans, fantastic service and vibe!! Favourite restaurant ever. I'm not even vegan and these were the best tacos I've had - can't quite put it into words. If you happen to be in Playa, this place is a must.

The owner at Ta'consciente has the biggest heart. I have a few dietary needs that are not compatible with the Mexican diet. With that said the owner customized an item for me! I was able to sample three different types of tacos - sope, taco with vegan cheese and tacos stuffed with beans! Everything was great! I feel very blessed to encounter such a kind owner!

I highly recommend this Ta'consciente for vegans and carnivores alike!

BRUH. the magic they make happen at this place is ridiculous. The “meat” options are the best I’ve ever had and the owner and employees are amazing. We called 30 mins before they closed with hopes they could accommodate. My wife and I showed up and were completely wowed.

Jackie made us a little bit of every option so that we could try and decide. Her recommendations were on point. The execution was even better. I’m still dreaming I was walking through downtown playa real Carmen to get more food from here.

Vegan or not, if you don’t get lunch or dinner from this place you would have wasted an opportunity to have delicious, authentic cuisine.

Delicious! Reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful staff. Champiñones over a potato, the favorite.

If I had anything negative to say, that would be nothing.
Great selection, and you get to taste every topping(which is delicious btw) available before you make your order!

Side note: I would have liked a salsa with a bit more kick to it flavour wise.

Best vegan/veggie tacos I've had! The place is really nice and the staff was wonderful. I recommend trying the soy pineapple tacos and the coconut chocolate cookies :)

Food was great, and finally, sugar free agua frescas. The service was phenomenal! They explained to us every single thing on the menu and let us taste almost everything before we made our decision. Good English and very very helpful staff.

We LOVE this place! Food is spectacular, service goes above and beyond, and it's great seeing a restaurant so environmentally conscious in a country where recycling is rarely available. Definitely recommend checking them out!
