We have rented a Chevrolet Aveno (automatic, unlimited mileage, fully insured) from here in November 2023 and we can recommend this place to everyone! The car was very very clean, in a good shape, good for gas. Edgar the owner was very friendly and helpful, he spoke good English and was always available for support on WhatsApp, if needed. I received my deposit back promptly and there were no hidden fees.

Truly a wonderful rental experience. Honest, trustworthy and super accommodating. Edgar and his team are excellent. No hidden fees, honest and true devotion to their customers (opened the shop on a holiday!!). Their cars are in excellent shape and include all requisite and supplementary insurance options without hidden fees. They make you feel like you’ve got family in the business. Highly recommend. Better service, prices and personal attention than any big name brand (and local options)!

By far the best experience I have ever had renting a car. The owner is very friendly and speaks perfect English. Communication is very easy over WhatsApp. He will drive the car to Cancun if that's where you are arriving. He will also come collect the car from you at your hotel. Explains everything very well, the car was in fantastic condition. Unlike reviews for other companies the car radio and AC worked. Can also pay the deposit by debit card if you don't have credit card. Definitely would recommend to everyone

Coming from Australia I was hesitant with who to rent from. After searching I was lucky enough to see Edgar at Rentadora. He was one of the best deals for a rental car in the area for the 9 days we wanted it. Edgar is very honest and will tell you what you need to know! We were also surprised to get a brand new car which was lucky. We were lucky to have the car as we were able to see more of Quintana Roo. Edgar went very out of the way to get the car from us at the end in Cancun as we originally agreed! We also had issues with the bank at the end with the insurance on hold but Edgar was very helpful with that too. I highly recommend using these guys, would definitely do business with again. Just back from another vacation and this was the 2nd time renting from the Playa Del Carmen location. Nothing but good things to say about this family run business. Prices are clearly stated and include insurance. Will continue using them in the future.

I rented a small Nissan in December, when the prices are crazy high, with a bit less than 60 USD per day. The car was practically new, Edgar was fair, transparent and professional and the returning process was quick and painless.
The 6000 MXN guarantee was released on the spot and the car checking process was fast, as I returned the car freshly washed & cleaned so any potential damage would have been easy to spot.

Rented a car for a few days and had no issues at all. The price was fair and they provided me with a good vehicle. Worked with Edgar when I arrived and he took car of explaining g all the paperwork. After three days we returned the car with a small scratch on the door was found and a small transaction of an extra $40 cash in the attendants pocket and I was on my way.
All and all I would rent from them again.

We had a wonderful experience. Picking up and dropping off the car took only minutes. We had a 24 hour rental for an automatic transmission Chevy for $55 USD. The staff was helpful and courteous.

Okay, understand that this isn't Hertz. The cars they rent are beaters and they don't really clean them. The Chevy convertible we rented had empty beer cans under the seat and half the dashboard was broken, and generally was pretty beat. HOWEVER, it's perfect island transportation! It ran very well and got great mileage. We off-loaded it a little bit and it did well. We stopped at serval beaches along the east side of the island and it was a great car for hopping in and out of while wet and sandy. The price was a very fair $40 for the day, and they charged us an extra $10 for the 5liters of fuel we used, so $50 total sounds just great to me. It's family-run and they are very nice and honest people. It's not Hertz, and I like it better!

This place is great. Worth walking a bit further to get to. The price you are told is exactly what you pay ($45 for a small sedan, $40 for the old VW but you won't have AC). Our car was bright green and we loved it even it wasn't as "cool" as a VW. If I ever come back here I am renting from her every time.

Best car rental experience I ever had! It's a little Mom's & Pop's business with a friendly staff. No hidden fees, great customer service and fair price. They don't try to sell you anything you don't need. We rented a 1970's WV beetle. Yes, its old and yes it has seen better days, but there's no better way to drive around Cozumel than in a convertible vintage car.
We had issues with the seat belts in the first Beetle and they replaced the car minutes after we brought up the issue. And this was during the holidays when the island is full of "car renting tourists" : ) It's about 5 minutes away from the Cozumel airport in taxi. You could even walk there! I Will definetly rent there again on my next trip.

When we brought the car back, the lady at the front desk tried to call us a taxi but couldn't get through so they offered us a lift to the airport. I had to drive myself with their car (i think they technically can't give us lifts) and it only cost us a thank you tip to the staff.

We had an absolutely seamless experience renting a car from Edgar. We reserved a month in advance and he did not forget about us. Anyone concerned about the rental car scams that you hear about in Mexico does not need to worry at all with this company. Everything was completely transparent and straightforward. We even did accidentally scrape a front panel on the bumper (sorry!), and it was a very reasonable $250 MX extra to cover the cost. Thank you so much for your top-notch service. We will 100% be back on our next vacation.

After talking in length to the multiple car rental agencies on Cozumel, we decided to try ISIS. They were the only company that did not change their price based on who you talked to and thus didn't have to haggle. We rented the Mexican Ferrari (VW Bug) for $40 a day and they even let us pick the color. While the interior was beat up (its a 20+ yo vehicle), the outside was simply gorgeous (see picture). Its small size helped when navigating the sometimes busy Cozumel streets. The rental process was simple, they checked the car for damage in advance and properly marked them on the checkout slip. Return was just as easy.

Rented a fairly new VW Gol from there with AC (Polo for Europeans I think). When I returned the car the man pointed out a significant scratch that was not there in the morning and he was right. Someone must have scraped the back bumper when I was parked at the beach (probably someone driving a jeep / bug they aren't used to). The lady was reasonable with me and requested an extra 25 euros to cover touching it up which I though was fair enough compared to what a lot of similar companies with your credit card details would try and do to you. Only negative was that filling up petrol seemed far too expensive considering how much I actually used, even though I made sure he reset the meter (but that's not part of ISIS just a separate petrol station in town).

We decided last minute to get a car and he was amazing. The return was also very quick, price was as listed no extra fees and he gives you the credit card cancelation receipt after the return. 10/10 recommend!!!

Rentadora Isis is a great place to rent a car.
The WV Beatle is an owesome car. Little bit rough, but really cool!
It has a soul and takes you wherever you want.
Make sure to return the car on time, otherwise you will be charged cca 80% of the daily cost.

We rented an old vw beetle, perfect for touring the island. The Isis staff were excellent, professional and honest. Its always worrying renting cars from small companies like this when you're on holiday but these guys are the real deal.

This was the most painless car rental Ive had in any country. The prices were upfront, nothing additional. We were given a great car with zero issues. Pickup & dropoff were so quick and easy! My deposit was credited back immediately. The customer service was excellent too. I will never rent from anyone else in Playa. Thank you for making our side vacation awesome!
