Very nice market. Good mix of things that tourists like to buy and things for domestic consumption. The vendors are really nice, most speak sufficient English to have a chat. They are not too pushy for selling. I guess they are not yet annoyed by endless numbers of Tourists.

When staying in Nyaung U, this market is definitely a place I recommend to visit.
Here you'll feel the real atmosphere of Myanmar. Crowded in the morning, this market is full of life : merchants, locals buying their food, lots and lots of stalls where you can find anything at a good price.

Amazing local market! Hubby mentioned that this is probably what Chatuchuk in BKK was like 20 years ago. Definitely not for the pampered, there's a wet market along with veggies, fruit and souvenirs. Lots of smells and sights to take in.

Getting a glimpse into the local market in Began, Myanmar. For Westerners it's quite a place to visit. Not your typical Kroger grocery store.

Massive local market with a very genuine atmosphere. Lots of fresh veggie and fruits as well as souvenirs, clothing, household items, and more. Many of the clerks are happy to explain (in broken English) what they are selling. The souvenir clerks are very sales-y and persistent, but are still friendly to talk to. At around 10a, monks fill the market and each clerk gives a small bit of their inventory to each monk that passes by; kind of a bizarre ritual to see.

Nice market, but go outside the main “street” pr route through, as this is very touristy. A few streets down it is very local and authentic.

I'd always loved this type of operation and traditional market where livestock, fresh produce etc could be sold. Rather near my hotel, Golden Myanmar Guesthouse and fun to observe the very busy activities in the market. Lots of customers picking fresh products displayed on the ground. Much haggling of prices...and its advisable to come in the mornings.

This market is absolutely amazing. Just spend a bit of your time going around and you can find really a lot of items. Old stuff, furnitures, cloths, longyi, food, drinks... everything. The sellers are also friendly and you will have a good experience to tell once you're back home. Trust me!

This is an authentic local market! It's busy and vendors are side by side for aisles and rows selling everything from food to baskets to pottery to clothes, etc. And you can sit and have a meal, if you like. We were overwhelmed with the busy-ness and the choices of things to buy. It's a place to mingle with the local people...an eye-opener! We loved it!

Good local market place. This market is about to learn what people living and eating. The construction of shop are made of netural material like wood and bamboo as the past 100 year ago. There are various things to look around.

The most wonderful market in Nyaung U (Near Bagan). The local foods and vegetables are all fresh and flowers with vivid colors. You can never get the amazing cheap prices all over the world like this market. All people are smiling and so charming with helpful manners. Crowded with local travelers and tourists who like to buy all things in market while others are busy for shooting photos in hurry not to loose the life cultures and events of Myanmar.
