We went to Sri Lanka and would go snorkeling. On Sam's advice ( the bar reef is damaged) i did a fun dive. Although it is a fun dive they take everything very seriously. The day before the open sea dives we did the instruction in a pool and even the day before that i received some 'home work'. The gear is all in excellent condition and very well maintained. The second day we did two dives at two different reefs. After a good safety briefing we took off. I felt very safe and looked after, during the whole trip, thanks to Anne my instructor. (P.s. i tried laulu) There was so much to see that the day after i felt a little sorry i had to travel further. Good thing they take a lot of pictures during the dive so you can reminisce about those precious moments. Sam and his family are diving for generations and that's clearly noticeable in the level of dedication and knowledge, and the love of diving. I would recommend it to everyone. Going to Sri Lanka? Visit Kalpitiya, go diving, do it here! On a side note: we loved Sam's wife's cooking! Some of the best food we had during our trip.

You must visit Kalpitiya if you want to experience one of the best scuba diving and kite surfing in Sri Lanka.

Had a wonderful 2 tank boat dive with the KDC team, Sam and his son Sanu were among those that visited two coral reefs. We had good equipment and clear communication that made this a memorable experience with the pictures they took of us. Recommend this dive center to anyone that wants to explore diving in Kalpitiya 🤿

I completed my PADI Advanced Open Water dive certification at the Kalpitiya Diving Center. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Sam and his team. He was extremely thorough with the training and I was happy to be provided with great gear for all my dives. Sam and his team made sure that all divers were mastering the necessary techniques underwater and also shared some tips from his extensive experience. Despite these being training dives, we were lucky enough to observe so many different species of fish and other marine animals. The accommodation was comfortable and Sam's wife made us some delicious food during our stay. I highly recommend KDC. Can't wait to dive there again!

Kalpitiya dive centre is an insanely great place with a warm and friendly team! Sam immediately made us feel like part of the family.
We were there for a week. My partner is already a divemaster, I did the Advanced Open water course and we both really enjoyed the dives.
The dive centre is super professional - a lot of emphasis is placed on safety and the maintenance and care of all diving equipment. Sam is an amazing instructor with a lot of empathy, patience, safety awareness, knowledge of the sea and its inhabitants and a great sense of humour. Shoutout also to Yomal- he will find all the little things like nudiebranches and micro-life that you’d never spot yourself!
The dive centre itself has three small cabins that are very cosy and clean.
Sam's wife Nilu provided us with breakfast, lunch and dinner all week and we asked her to open a restaurant because the food is simply excellent and fresh! I just want to stay in touch with her cause she’s an amazing person!
When my partner was a bit sick she took exceptional care of him with her ayurvedic healing skills.
We will certainly come back soon because we felt so at home and had a great time!

These people are great! I'm an instructor myself and honestly did not expect too much of the diving in Sri Lanka but this was great. Lots of diversity in marine life and easy diving. Definitely something else!

The crew was awesome, Anne and Sanu are very enthusiastic dive guides and well organized. The captain (sorry forgot his name) was experienced and clear in his communication during the boat ride without too much English.

All and all 10 out of 10 for you guys, keep it up!

I got my Open Water Diving License with him on November 11th, and let me tell you, it was epic. Mr. Sam is not just an instructor; he's a guy super friendly, flexible, and just an all-around awesome guy. His knowledge and experience in diving are just incredible. 💛🌟

As well, his crew is equally fantastic, always there to guide you, create a happy atmosphere, and maintain a friendly environment.🙌

If you are going to go underwater diving in Kalpitiya, go to Mr. Sam's Dive Center because Mr. Sam's staff is a very friendly and fun group of people. The sea of Kalpitiya is very beautiful and there are many different types of fish, coral reefs, etc. Mr. Sam can be seen under the protection of the senior staff. I recommend Mr. Sam's Kalpitiya Diving Center (PADI) with great responsibility and confidence.

Did my PADI AOW course with Sam at KDC and quite content with the experience. Sam is a knowledgeable Scuba instructor, who paid extra attention to detail and won't be satisfied until you learn a certain skill properly, which is a great sign of an instructor. Furthermore Sam and his family is friendly and hospitable. Made the duration of the course comfortable and memorable. Additionally, Kalpitiya has lots of species of fish and underwater life in higher numbers. Highly recommend him for any scuba related activities.

Sam and the team gives you the best experience diving and guides you really well underwater. Went on a fun dive recently in Kalpitiya and witnessed tons of fish. The team is kind enough to take a lot of photos underwater and share those with you. Thanks for the great experience as always.

We had two amazing dives with Sanusha and his cousin. Such nice guys and very professional. Amazing variety of fish, several rays, octopus, cuttlefish and a very playful school of dolphins following us between dives

After the dive we met Sanusha’s family and had a traditional Sri Lankan lunch Sanusha’s mum graciously gave us curried crab from their family lunch they were having

This crew is top notch and if I could give them more than 5 stars I would!!

Sam makes you feel safe and confident before entering the water. He was a great guy to enjoy the day with and learn from, especially for identifying the fish species in the area. He had me brush up on my knowledge before diving and was very clear on the skills we were going to practice.

This is Real kalpitiya diving center.

I'm a Canadian diver with about 100 - 120 dives all over the world. I came here on a complete whim with no previous set plans to dive in Sri Lanka. The morning before I got to Kalpityia I found there was a dive shop close to where we were staying and decided to go for a dive the next day.

I didn't know what to expect but this place is a rated Padi Resort so I knew it would be up to standards.

Well it was above and beyond!!! Sam, his family and employees run this dive shop extremely well. His professionalism and fun charismatic personality make the dives super fun and safe!

There isn't a lot of coral, but I saw a lot of large fawna and fish on these dives. Multiple sting rays, a sea turtle, a bump head and the biggest octopus I've ever seen.

We were treated to an absolutely delicious Sri Lankan home cooked lunch.

My rental gear was all in excellent shape.

We came back to the shop to hang out later that night with the other divers.

Coming here was super comforting because it was not unlike other dive experiences I've had in the world where the team is super fun and friendly while also being chill but super safe.

Highly recommend, and also it was a new experience taking the boat out through the sandbar that was changed due to severe storms. You'll understand when you get there lol!

Beware if you're prone to sea sickness, the water can get a bit choppy, but they do have sea sickness pills.

There is also a shop in Trincomalee for the east coast season if you're on that side.

We have had a beautiful experience diving with Sam and his team! You are welcomed just like family and offered the best dive experience possible, thank you again and see you another time!

Amazing two dives with Sam and his team. Sea was a bit rough when we went diving but the dives were really great. Sam and his team are here to help you out with what you need. Beautiful diving spots with a lof of different fishes, stingrays, turtles, octopus and so on. The best dive center in Sri Lanka! Will be back one day hopefully. Thanks Sam!
