Kite House Cafe and Restaurant

Unique place to stay just next to the lagoon which is perfect for kiting. The Cafe, Restaurant and its Bungalows are all self made from what nature offers. The local staff is super friendly, the owners are amazing and help with everything (they also organize kite-trips to eg Vella Island or short or multi-day downwinders).
Don't forget to eat at the restaurant! Curry, pizza, thuna - everything great quality!

This is the best place in the whole Sri Lankan kitesurfing scene to eat and chill! Really great vibe here and amazing food not found anywhere else. Right by the lagoon also and there's rooms to stay in too +++

Really nice ambiance, everything is made from repurposed and eco friendly material. The people are great and the place has a really good vibe to it. The only problem was the breakfast, it used to get over after half an hour of serving it.

Amazing spot with incredibly good food! Loved the soups, onion pakora, masala chai, seafood fried rice and pizza. Flawless. Very welcoming and friendly team here as well :)

A friend and I turned up here after a long stint of busy travelling and couldn't have felt more welcomed and at home from the very start ( We turned up pretty late but Anais was still waiting for us :) )! The food was just perfect and reasonably priced and everyone would go out of their way to help us. We even returned back here a few weeks later as we couldn't stay away! Surrounded by beautiful scenery, interesting history and a lovely neighbourhood it couldn't have been more what we needed. Thank you so much guys :)

We were here for five days to relax. Both the team and the guests are super nice and very relaxed.

Don't come here it is terrible which is what my husband says when he does not want to share his delicious cake with me.

Kite house is a must go for everybody visiting kalpitya. Great vibe, superb food and extremely friendly staff.

For the discerning outdoor experiential traveller, this is high up on my list of accommodations to check out.

Experience was well worth my trip from Colombo. Great hosts and friendly staff. Overall simple but nicely designed space, which shows how much love can be put into the making of a place.

The food is excellent, and Kitehouse Cafe is worth visiting for the food alone.

Situated in a sort of larger area considered quite sacred, it would be worth spending a few days here at a minimum as it really is a rather magical place.

I'm inspired to go back just thinking about it.

We had lunch and dinner here during our week in the area. Best Pizzas ever and the pulled Pork wrap is excellent. Its a laid back place and very well run. Go and eat there if you are anywhere nearby. Its well worth it.

This place is a little paradise, i was suppose to stay only one night, now i m since more than 10 days. Staff are really friendly and food is amazing. You have specially to try pizza and brownies!!! Don't miss those! Just in the front you have the best spot around to practice kitesurfing ( better than kapalady lagoon which is more gusty). Come and let's you enchant by this place.

So the Kite house is much more than a hostel, when we came here we thought that we are going to stay for 2 weeks, but eventually we stayed for almost 2 month and that place became our home. The hosts (that became good friends) are really nice and helped us with everything we needed, everything! From good advices where to travel to good laughs and parties. And now we can talk about the food, THIS IS THE BEST FOOD IN SRI LANKA, each dish we ordered we were surprised how good it was! They also offer Kite trips and it's an amazing adventure, you get the beautiful Kite spots!

Keeps us coming back for more. Each year it gets better. The selection and quality of food stands out, both Sril Lankan cuisine and international. Mmm Gambas. The vibe is super chill, with chairs and hammocks dotted around their garden. Great place to stay or drop by for after kite drinks and eats. Ah yeah important point is they do great coffee, ask for the Italian.

Annais and Kiera are one of the nicest most genuinely couples I’ve met! They were always so friendly, and would help us with everything we needed.
The cooking here was to die for! Annais is a Spanish cook so you can get delicious Spanish food, western food, and Sri Lankan food here.
The accommodation is great, you can rent a tent, or stay in a “bungalow” (basically a 5 star hotel room compared to the rest of the hotel rooms in Sri Lanka)
The atmosphere was probably the second best part about this place (first being the owners and staff) There’s always chill unique music playing and at night the grounds transform into a beautifully manicured, perfectly lit space.
Everyone here is very environmentally conscious which is unique for being in Asia, but is quite refreshing to see.
The lagoon beach is a one minute walk from your rooms and the ocean beach is about 5. Sunsets here are spectacular!
All in all an easy 5 stars! I wish I could give them 10.

It's a place of magic, peace and biggg smiles. Keira and Anais along with their super awesome team of brilliant chef's, friendly staff and loving pets have built a paradise here in Kalpitya that is sure to blue your mind. Come here for great food, kite surfing, music, art, smiles and ultimate peace. I loved every bit of it.

If you will be in that area don't miss that spot . We had accommodation for two nights in the tent . Whole place it's just amazing all staff there is more than helpful and is not just for kitesurfers . Strongly recommend. Just love it .

I would call it a truly amazing and relaxing experience! Having stayed for 4 days in between a blue lagoon and a palm forest and being accompanied by the most welcoming Anais and Keira, my partner and I feel that it was once-in-a-lifetime trip in the magical island of Sri Lanka. Hope to make it a twice-in-a-lifetime in a few years! :)

I have been regularly going to kite house cafe for 2 years now and is my favourite place on the kalpitiya peninsula. Super quiet and chilled out beside the best kitesurfing lagoon in kalpitiya or kappilady with super friendly owners and staff and the best food you can get in the area easily make it the best place to go to for a meal or a cheap place to stay. No better place for relaxing and watching the sunset.
