WINDY CAR RENTAL

To start this review, my expectations were low, I turned up last minute at 830am in the morning, not thinking I would get a rental car because you definitely should pre-book at least 2 days in advance for any of the car rental places here in hakuba. I called up and the owner said on the phone you need to pre-book, I waited around googling out the front and the owner came outside to start his day, he asked what I was doing there and I laughed it off saying I needed a car for 2 of us just for the day to go to the monkey onsen and also the cedar tree shines. He thought about it and mentioned he had 1 little car, which was perfect for us. We paid $75 AUD cash for the day until 5pm, the owner explained everything simplistically gave directions and a booklet with info about getting out of hakuba and fuel and sent us on our way. I would definitely recommend this place, its a small family business I'm pretty sure, so don't have high expectations, be appreciative and pre-book, or try your luck like I did.

I am renting a car there already more then 1 year. Made some damage but they solved everything perfect. Sennur helpes me all the time and she is the best

The owner was very kind and spoke good english. Great value for money car rental.

Shinzo was really kind and helpful. We had to rush for our train and he told us to return our car at the office so that he could send us to the train station. Although the office is small, the staff was readily available via phone call. We’re glad we chose Windy!

Lucky to have this service in Hakuba with small children and only limited ski buses, Taxi is ok but how much can you do with taxis. Reasonable vehicles and well located in the centre - not perticularly cheap but no choice in such a remote and small place that only gets visitors in the winter. I want to book again for next year but am getting no reply to my emails so maybe they do not open until winter.

Clean with reasonable cost!

The man was incredibly rude over the phone both times we inquired about availability; I understand, if you hate dealing with customers, you can do something else— you do not need to be in the car rental business. If the wind blows this business away, nothing lost. ごめんなさい

This guy is so unpleasant. We had not made a booking but he said on the phone he might have a car for us that day if we came to the office. When we got there he was very rude and berated us for not organising it before. Would not say yes or no - said he would email us later and maybe have a car the next day. We organised it somewhere else.

Windy gets one star ⭐ because I can’t give them none! We booked a car with Windy 7 months in advance of our trip, lots of email correspondence and all confirmed with booking numbers and everything. When we followed up with them a few weeks out from our booking they said they had no record of our booking, we sent through the email thread between us and they kept saying ‘spam filter’ refusing to acknowledge they’d made a mistake and to top it off weren’t even apologetic about their inability to provide us with the car we’d booked. We even had a local Japanese friend call on our behalf to ensure we were able to communicate effectively with him. They really showed they didn’t care much at all. Really unhappy. Would caution you about using them. I feel terrible leaving a review like this, but don’t want to see other people in the same situation.

Poor email communications and zero customer service

Demanded a deposit first without answering a simple question (I asked 3 times). Finally they responded saying they have no cars.

Take your business elsewhere.

We called to book a car just before Christmas and got laughed at. Not very professional.
