I absolutely adore this place. The decor is soo cute like it gave me Arrietty from Ghibli vibes. nachos were BUSSING. service 5/5. actually we had to wait quite a bit for our food I think we just went on the day that was understaffed 🤷🏻‍♀ not sure if it’s like that all the time. 100% will come back

Highly kitsch but fun setting.

Minimum 1 drink per person. The food was enjoyable and well within budgetary constraints.

The #1 reason to come is the, frankly, outlandish design of the place. It's bizarre to the point of adorable that I simply embraced the kooky interior.

The best hot wine I’ve ever head. Everyone is so friendly, the decor and set up are charming and eclectic. Cannot recommend enough.

Such a great time at mother! We went since we're a "mixed" couple (vegan and everything eater). We both found great food options! Staff was super friendly and interior was really something special! We got to try a sucho tasting which was really great since we had no idea what to order. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Shimokitazawa!

Very cool, interesting atmosphere, almost like a hobbit house or tree house. They play great rock and folk music. The drinks and food are good and reasonable with vegetarian options. We stayed in Shimokota for a week and this was our favorite bar.

Happened upon this place and it’s the best. Such a unique bar with amazing cocktails. Get the nachos, we skipped dinner because we were so satisfied. Try the Chilli Vodka if you like spice, it’s house made.

Spent a memorable New Year’s Eve here. Great energy from the staff, well priced drinks, and the best music. We love Mother!

Ambience is great with a very unique decor. Highly recommended for anyone stopping by Shimokitazawa and looking for either just a drink or some food (I mentioned Nachos but really the whole menu has quality).

Fun kitschy decor and extensive list of drinks in this bar that's been open since 1972. Had the seasonal hanami hai which was very refreshing. Impressed that they have a wide selection of vegan stuff as well.

Nice cave in a back alley with a totally friendly stuff and locals.

Vegan options. Good cocktails. Reasonably priced. Had Hendricks with cucumber - proper. Had deep fried tofu and a pumpkin soup/gnocchi dish. Both super tasty. Staff was great! Aesthetic was artsy cave land (you’ll get it).

Really fun bar with good music and interesting cocktails. I had the shitake martini on the seasonal menu which sounds weird but genuinely tasted amazing. They also have great beer and friendly staff.

Amazing. Such good food (the nachos are some of the best I’ve ever had and I’m from SF). Mori is a must have drink. Top secret recipe but so smooth and delicious, especially warm with chai. Service was wonderful. Vibe is cool.

Very funky, bohemian spot with different food than you'll find in a lot of Tokyo. Great vinyl being played on turntable at the bar. Nice for some small snacks and a few drinks with a tequila shot thrown in.

My wife and I joined some friends for a delicious meal and a unique dining experience at Mother Restaurant and Bar in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan. The restaurant had a cool cute hobbity vibe as there were no straight lines and the furniture was out of the ordinary. The menu was eclectic and the food was delicious. We were fortunate to meet the owner and discover that they have a second restaurant and bar called Mother’s Ruin.

Very unique, funky vibe in Shimokitazawa. Indoor atmosphere is like being in a giant treehouse. Mix of interesting foods borrowed from lots of different cultures but all of it is good. Vegan options, which is rare for Japan. Staff is bilingual English & Japanese.

Strong drinks, funky vibe, great conversation with the owner and her family. She even offered a tasting tutorial of shochu... Really enjoyed this spot!

Super cute and quirky atmosphere and friendly staff. Feels like Aztec meets Gaudi. Nice unique cocktails.
