Village Vanguard Shimokitazawa

Totally obsessed with this place, it's a super fun little bit of everything store and the only place in Tokyo I've found so far that stocks new tamagotchi merch. It's a bit far from the main touristy places so visiting as a tourist you get a good feel of suburban tokyo, plenty of great places to eat around it too and support the locals.

Five stars for the unexpected surprise. I thought this was a toy/anime store but it carries goods of all sorts. I bought some softest white socks here.

Love Village Vanguard and this one was bigger than I expected with a lot of stuff I hadn't seen anywhere else!

Awesome and huge store. You can find there everything, from toys to home decorations. After first purchase you will get discount voucher for you're next visit. We bought disney chop sticks, harry potter candys and toy story shoes!

Village Vanguard is always good for a browse through their assorted cool stuff. The Shimokitazawa store is no exception. There's something for everyone here.

Always find lots of surprisingly good stuff here in Village Vanguard for every catagories; books / hobbies / music etc.

I love this store chain so much I visited several of them while in Tokyo. This store specifically was very large with a fun selection of gashapon outside. Staff friendly spoke some English. This is a great place to shop and get very interesting souvenirs. Also good for finding collectable merchandise, art books and obscure items.

This is a nice place to get lost in for a while on a rainy day. The book section is really good with books sorted by theme and lots of personal recommendations from staff members. Lots of good manga and art books. In addition to the books, you can find pretty much anything here, from Tenga sex toys to calendars.

Nice place to shop and kill some time also a lot of stuff for anime/manga fans

The best village vanguard store! It's huge and has all the stock in one big shop. Definitely come here for cool items like key-rings, plush items, books/magazines, bags or their cool t-shirts

My favorite village vanguard store. It's full to the brim with absolutely random stuff. You're guaranteed to find at least 3 things you don't need but really want.

Best place to get a gift for someone.

Lots of pop culture merchandise, toys and books here. A great place to find a gift at any price range and person on your shopping list. The photo uploaded by another reviewer mistaken this as their diner. Their dinner is a few minutes walk away. Google-search 'Village Vanguard Diner' to find the right place. I did so successfully.

Loved it! So crazy and so interesting at the same time! All kinds of stuff you can imagine - great magazines, great toys, great things for decor. A great place to get lost for a long long time.

Store with many goods, from cute Japanese studio Ghibli, Doraemon etc, to home, kitchen, toilet, bags, clothes, books, music, watches, Tenga, smartphone accessories etc. Great for gifts, souvenirs and fun. Also Shimokitazawa is a lovely neighbourhood worth the visit.

Great place to shop. A lot of selection of souvenirs and very accessible and convenient if you’re a tourist. Helpful staff that will always be with you when you step in.

Feels like I'm back in the US! Still one of the best burgers I've had in Tokyo as well. (Plus I get some Cajun fried chicken for this review!)
