Disk Union Shimokitazawa CD Record Store

After spending hours thrifting in Shimokitazawa, I was exhausted. I was slowly making my way to the subway when I saw someone walking by with a Disc Union bag and thought, "now how did I miss that there was a store around here". I decided to make one last trip before getting on the train and thank the high heavens I did. What an amazing gem of a store. The back hip-hop section (AKA anything American) was AMAZING. I have never seen so many pop / R&B star 12" vinyl in such pristine condition and for bargain bin prices. Highly recommend if you're a pop record junkie.

Loved It. New used hip hop, funk, R&B, tones of house and techno, giant rock/ pop/ else. LOVED IT.

The disc union chain is generally a great place to look for used and new vinyl. I visit them every trip to Japan when I see them.

Loved this place. This shop was stocked well. I was struggling to find 60~80’s rock like The Velvet Underground and Frank Zappa, but this place got many of them. They were used CD’s with good condition and deals. Also they got records and books. You can imagine what happens to my wallet😂

Has lots and lots of used CDs & records in great conditions! Lots of the 90s albums are only 100¥. You can try the vinyl & CDs before buying at a station provided and they also sell headphones and audio accessories. <3 this place!!

This location encapsulates how a local record shop should be and how it was back in the day during the height of pre-digital music era. A top notch selection in all of Tokyo, this place is heavier on 60s-70s US and UK rock, city pop, J-pop in LPs and 45s. My favorite here is the hip-hop shop where you pay separately. They got a ton of mix CDs by local popular DJs like DJ Koco Shimokita and even old school mixtapes from the 90s like DJ Ron G, etc. Lots of rare used hip-hop LPs and singles are found here. Two thumbs up.

The shimokitazawa disk Union is my favourite. I stay near here and it's worth dropping in to check out the new arrivals every few days as the stock turns over quickly. Great range of all genres here and a bit more room to get between the racks than at the bigger DU stores in Shinjuku and Shibuya

Great record store. First one I went to when I visited Japan many years ago. Now that I live here this is my local record shop.
Go almost every weekend as they always have new stock coming in.

Great used selection. Lots of high end rock and jazz records, a separate hip hop section, and lots of very reasonably priced records. A wide CD selection too.

Large selection of both new and second hand vinyl and the great staff were able to assist when trying to buy some Japanese alt/rock.

Great store. Disc Union stores are in multiple locations around Tokyo. This Shimokitazawa location has a large selection of vinyl, from multiple genres and eras. Shimokitazawa is an area has a lot of vintage stores, and this Disc union location fits right in.
