Souvenirs were as excellent, as were the displays, and all with no admission fee. Kimonos and excellent fabrics abound. Lots of little items for sale, trinkets, handbags, tenegui, etc. Check the display photos. They also have a kimono show on the hour, I missed it but check the other reviews.

You’ll learn a lot about silk production.. there’s even live silk worms and you get to spin silk from the cocoons.. very friendly staff.

This was a really cool store that sold a lot of interesting stuff. I was able to buy a ninja mask and even see a kimono fashion show!

A perfect blend of information about textiles and items one can purchase. The prices were surprisingly good and the variety reasonable though not extreme. I personally got a kimono, obi, and hairpin for about $200 tax free. We also went to the kimono show which was an enjoyable experience. Then we splurged on the $10 golden ice cream. The ice cream itself was excellent, the gold didn't add anything. Probably not worth the money, but we got a nice picture out of it.

Great place to learn about the art of making kimonos. The kimono fashion show was alright, but what fascinated me the most was the loom, which was really high tech for such an old piece of equipment! It's unbelievable how the loom incorporated a punch card system to create kimono patterns!

Other than the educational and aesthetic aspects, you might also be tempted to buy the samurai sword letter openers and the cute T shirts they offer.

Well worth a trip if you have the time.

Good location to buy Japanese clothing and learn a little about textiles manufacturing. Staff were very helpful and we purchased two Kimonos and two Yukatas at reasonable prices. It can be busy if you are there when the tour buses stop by. However over all a great experience.

Beautiful kimonos. Ensure that you stay for the kimono show. The show is only for 10 mins but worth it. Generally its gets crowded hence go early and catch a seat.

Japan handbags for 2160 yen are extremely pretty.

If you would like to see Kimono Show for free you may come to this textile center.
They have kimono show everyday on certain schedules.
Besides you may see and learn the history of the Japan textile industry.
This place also has souvenirs of Japan including traditional foods, fabrics, and handmade creations

High quality textiles available for purchase: kimono, obi, scarves, wallets, ties, furoshiki, etc., along with everyday souvenirs like keychains, postcards, and the like. During our visit we had the opportunity to watch a woman operating the large wooden loom; the pattern on her work was exquisite. Definitely stop by if you are interested in textiles. I will be shopping here again on my visit next year.

A great spot to find some lovely textile pieces, see their amazing men’s ties and also see a live kimono show if you’re lucky with the timing! Some lovely kimono history too. If you’re on one of the green busses passing, pop in and check Nishijin out.

What an amazing place to visit to learn about the history of textiles in Kyoto, and Japan! The woven displays are exquisite, and the one-on-one sewing experience is well worth the small fee. I will go back for sure

Lovely selection of "easy" or formal kimonos and yakutas. Loved the huge (and ancient) fabric loom, that was being used while we were there. Very helpful staff.

Very cool place, there were historical machines for textile making and historical kimonos and other traditional dresses. Plus there was no entrance fee, it was completely free!
