We stayed two nights and it was really perfect. The rooms are big and quite. Everything is really traditional japanese. You get your japanese cloths, that you can wear for the onsen and breakfast/dinner. The food was delicious!! (but you need to like japanese seafood food, for europeans it is partly an adjustment of your approach to food 😃). The dinner/breakfast is a fixed menu on a fixed time (8am and 6pm) - the quality and the variety of food (minimum 5-6 different courses) is really outstanding. The onsen was also very nice with long opening hours. I highly recommend this hotel!

Beautiful hotel with super attentive staff and a delicious kitchen & catering team. The hotel is up a hill but has a stunning view of the mountains outside with no neighbours. The onsen facilities are some of the best we experienced in Japan and very relaxing. Would highly recommend +++

Had a lovely stay at LALACA. Small group of staff tended to our every need. The progression of both meals was excellent and very authentic.

Onsen place was nice, though a little small. Recommend to book the private onsen for a better experience.

One of the best experiences I had in Hakone! Staff service was excellent, room cozy and spacious. Traditional Japanese style, neat and tidy. Each room could reserve 30 minutes at night for the private onsen! Dinner and breakfast included in our package were perfect! It could worth more than ¥10,000! Good value!

Some minor not so good parts: 1. Hotel is located on a hill, so need a bit uphill slope walking from Gora Station. 2. No private bath tube / shower place in our room, need to use the public shower place at onsen downstairs

Clean, quiet & comfortable rooms, and great onsens. The food was amazing and serving sizes are super generous. All of the staff were lovely and spoke great English. Highly recommended!

Wonderful staff, excellent location and an authentic experience at a traditional Japanese Ryokan. The food was delicious, treated to a multi-course Kaiseki feast in the evening as well as breakfast in the morning! The hot springs flow directly from the source and you have an option to bathe in a relaxing private onsen in the evening as well as a public one throughout the day. Located near to Gora station, great accessibility for all activities as well as beautiful views! Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a memorable and immersive Japanese getaway!

We had the most wonderful stay in this beautiful Ryokan. Kazu was a pleasure to deal with and so friendly and helpful as were the rest of the staff there. They really go above and beyond. There are several onsite onsen which are piping hot and as there's only a handful of rooms in the Ryokan there is more than enough space to relax. At times we had them to ourselves. You also get 30 minutes of private onsen access after dinner. The kaiseki dinner was simply a fantastic experience and both plentiful and delicious. The courses just keep coming!! And there's beer and local wine that you can buy to accompany it should you wish. The rooms are really cute and traditional with complimentary water, green tea and a little Japanese cake/treat and the beds were super comfy and we had an amazing sleep. You also get the traditional clothing to wear to dinner. We wore it to breakfast too, after our early morning onsen which is open from 6am, but were the only ones still wearing it haha. I can't thank Kazu enough for a great stay and all his help and would really recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable Onsen/Ryokan experience.

As authentic as it gets, accommodation includes very traditional set course breakfast and dinner. Hot baths use natural spring water. Staff were extremely courteous and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable

Absolutely beautiful hotel! This ryokan is well maintained, in a convenient spot, and has amazingly friendly staff. The meals here are delicious and the food is plenty, even for an American appetite. There are only about 9 rooms here so everything felt very intimate. While we were here, we saw mostly Japanese and Chinese guests so this place might still be a hidden gem for western travelers.

The room had an amazing view, even from the third floor. The employees were friendly and helpful. The option to reserve the large outdoor bath for 30 minutes was well worth it. Dinner was delicious and had an assortment of traditional Japanese food.

We (a couple) stayed one night for a nice weekend getaway (Hakone round trip + Yunessun) from Tokyo. Lalaca is a wonderful family-owned ryokan. It's refined and seeps with traditional Japanese culture, but also has a personal and homey atmosphere due to having just ~8 rooms for guests. The huge lobby windows show an amazingly scenic mountain view and there are indoor/outdoor onsen areas (even a shared outdoor onsen available for free, reserved, private use at night for guests -- these are relatively rare and usually available at incredibly expensive places). The food (dinner and breakfast are included) is delicious, quality traditional Japanese cuisine. The service is also top-notch, as staff is professional, extremely helpful with personal requests, and multilingual in at least English, Japanese, and Mandarin. Rooms are fairly spacious and beautiful, with tatami floors and modern bay windows also looking out into the mountains. Tea and yukatas are provided in the rooms, which include a private sink and toilet, but no private bath/shower. However, this was not a problem because of everything provided in the onsen areas (so much better than a normal shower). There is WiFi available throughout the ryokan. Overall, though not exactly cheap, the value and cost performance here is incredible. I'd recommend Lalaca to anyone visiting the Hakone area.

Excellent experience at Lalaca. Small ryokan with a very friendly staff that is multilingual. They speak English very well and we felt very welcome. The facilities are very clean and temperatures of the onsen were great in both in the indoor and outdoor private areas. The food was delicious for dinner and breakfast. The staff had every detail of the meal prepared beforehand and the food had both good variety and portion size. Overall very good place to get the essential onsen experience. The facility does not have much more amenities than just the onsen, but regardless, the price is excellent.

A fantastic onsen in Hakone. The room was spacious, the food was delicious, and the staff were very kind. Just a heads-up - there are no showers in the rooms, but the outdoors bath more than makes up for it.

We stayed at Lalaca Ryokan during the summer 2018, and WOW what an experience. The view was absolutely stunning, the service was amazing, the food was incredible, and they even gave me a little gift as our stay was on my birthday. I cannot stress enough what an extraordinary experience it was to stay at Lalaca!
Do yourself the favor of staying here, we only did for 1 night but it was possibly the best night of our entire 3-week vacation

Great place to stay if visiting Hakone region - close to the centre of Gora and ideal for exploring the local natural beauty or trips slightly further afield. Amazing family hospitality, great food - portions a good size and very delicately crafted with lots of different courses.

Amazing staff and service. Top notch Ryokan experience and the best dinner and breakfast!! Onsen was wonderful and easy to schedule private use of Onsen. The location is just a 7 minute walk from Gora Station. This place is a must stay when in Hakone.
