This was our first ever onsen experience in Japan. It was absolutely amazing. The staff at the reception spoke English. The amenities were clean and neat. The spa for men had one indoor and several outdoor pools. We were in the middle of nature and enjoyed several hours hopping between pools. We bought a combined ticket to also eat lunch at the restaurant, which was a great deal. The food was delicious. Highly recommend!

The location is very convenient as there is a bus service just at the exit of the train station. The private rooms are very nice and the facilities are abundant. I also dined and ordered the Kishu course and I enjoyed it a lot. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and accommodating, I love them.

An amazing experience for enjoying the hot springs in the nature without any concerns about your privacy. You are protected by the beautiful surroundings, such as the trees and rocks. Ladies and gentlemen sections are separated. So you can get naked in the hot spring indoors or outdoors and have a nice time with your friends or family (same gender in hot springs). Then enjoy the delicious Japanese cuisine after having a rest on the tatami.

Another hidden gem, this one you can easily find after visiting Owakudani.
Here, you can enjoy relaxing hot pools overlooking dense vegetation, the moonlight adding to the experience. You can relax in the comfortable tatami rooms while getting ready for another round.
Why not stay for dinner and order seconds of the delicious freshly grilled trout skewer?
Once you've had your fill and all of your wishes have been fulfilled, the complementary shuttle bus will take you to the train station.

Many interesting outdoor pools of varying temperatures, as well as one cold pool. Nice layout to the onsen as well, with trees and greenery surrounding the pools to make the environment feel more natural.
Do note that no free towels are provided! Bath towels can be bought at 450yen each.
Restaurant was decent too - nice to enjoy a cold beer after a warm bath.

Perfect spot if you want to book a private onsen! Able to reserve online and get a few hours of a private room. Nice clean facilities, love the open air vibe. Walk up beer window as well, can’t go wrong there! If you walk from the bus stop, the stairs are intense so you’ll have earned your onsen experience

This place was part of the hakone pass. This just means you get a small discount. We went there around 5-6 pm and there was a line. It was cold and rainy and their heater was broken outside but by the time we got in, they had it fixed. Wait was around 30 mins or so. We didn’t bring anything except our selves. Once you get in, they will ask you if you need a towel. (If you didn’t bring one) there are two sizes Small and big. I think price was around 250 and 450. You can also rent a robe if you like but it’s not necessary and most don’t. After paying, they give you a key to lock your shoes. Then you separate to your area (female or male). Before you enter, make sure you shower clean before going into the hot springs. When you enter, there will be shower stalls on the let and an indoor hot springs on the right but you probably want to go outside as majority of them are outside. I feel like they were all similar temperature except for the giant cup looking thing. There is also a small cold dunk beside the sauna. I have to look it up again but they do this thing in the sauna every hour with eucalyptus and blow hot air on you. After you are done, there are various resting areas where you can read magazines, manga, or sleep. They also have a restaurant so better to check in there first if you want to eat as there was q. I thought it would be really full but everywhere there was enough room for you to enjoy.

One of the best onsen places I have been to in Japan. I always come back whenever I pass by Hakone. Their private onsens are definitely worth the price, their massage are less popular but is very good, and their dinner just helps to complete the entire experience. I recommend booking the private onsens beforehand and for dinner, definitely have to get the grilled fish. I preferred their Kozuki set compared to the seasonal option for their dinner

Wonderful place to “bath” away the stiffness from the cold winter. The staff could speak some English and there were English instructions on how to enjoy the onsen. We had the private onsen as we did not have the courage to go to a public one. Try to make a reservation online before you go over.

Beautiful onsen resort close to the Hakone yumoto station. They have a free shuttle bus running from and to the Hakone yumoto station every 10 minutes. It is only a 3 min ride in the bus, you could also walk if you prefer. There are private rooms available to hire for a couple of hours where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Very clean and well maintained. They provide all amenities like soap, shampoo, towels etc along with Yukata (traditional Japanese robe). If you want to use the private rooms, advance reservation is highly recommended as they get booked very fast. The staff is extremely friendly and speak good English as well. There are some free snacks provided in the room, but you may carry more snacks. This will be needed as you tend to get exhausted (although relaxing) after the onsen experience. If you want to have a proper meal, there is also a restaurant in-house.

Loved my experience here! The facility was a lot smaller than I expected. Such a quaint and tranquil place to spend a day at. I booked a private onsen and it was perfect. 2 hours is definitely not long enough in my opinion, next time I would extend it to 3 hours. The staff do not speak very good English but it was fairly easy to communicate by pointing.

I did not try the restaurant but I was a little disappointed to see the takeout/icecream counter was closed. Icecream would have been great after the bath.
They have a small outside sitting area and a vending macine for drinks. Also loved the small gift shop in the lobby.

It took roughly 1.5 hours by train from shinagawa station

Absolutely amazing experience, great value for money and the food was fantastic. This public onsen has indoor and outdoor space, sauna and mizu-buro(cold bath). The location is great if you don't have a car and you use the Hakone pass to travel around in the area.

One of my most favorite stops during my travel to Japan. The staff were super helpful and patient with me. Tattoos are not allowed like must places, so keep that in mind. It's totally worth getting a private bath, so spend that extra cash for it and then enjoy the public bath after. Well definitely be coming back here. Was so perfect with the cold rainy weather.

Visited here after long day of hiking around Gora and Lake Ashi and couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing hot spring. There is a free shuttle that took me from the Hakone-Yumoto station directly to the Onsen. Once there, staff was friendly and helpful and guided me around the facilities with a to-go map. After soaking around, grabbed some food on way out and was delicious!

I booked a 2 hour, private room, by calling the day before and was fortunate to get one. Although it was for only 2 people, I paid the extra and got the Type 2 room that holds 4 - it was well worth the few extra Yen, you can really stretch out. Check out their brochure to see the different rooms.

It was easy to get up there using the free shuttle van from the train station, or you can catch the he train to the first stop and walk it down a little - actually a nice walk in nature!

Checking in was easy, they gave instructions, towels, key and the yukata. The room was exactly as in their image, clean throughout.
It was relaxing with the water at 42 degrees Celsius. Be careful not to fall asleep since it’s very relaxing.

This was my 3rd trip to Hakone, and the first time going to an Onsen, I usually stayed in a hotel that had the natural hot spring water piped in to the bathtub. This time we came to Hakone for the day. I’d definitely do it again, and come back to Hakone Yuryo.

Amazing food and sauna. Nicely presented food. Although I cannot show inside the sauna. Trust me it's amazing. Just be ready to be completely naked. Bring your own towel unless you don't mind buying one or two at the counter. About 450 yen for large towel. And 250 for small one when I visited in late 2022. Out door jacuzzi.. inside hot tub and breathing in the crisp air from the deep forest! Man I wish I am there as I am writing this..

We loved our private onsen experience here. It is a beautiful place and the restaurant was also our favourite meal in Japan so far - get the pork cutlet curry!

We arrived here in the evening after a long day trip through Hakone. At around 18 in the evening, there was quite a crowd waiting to enter, but the line moved fast. You buy the tickets on the spot and may enter the large bath area and sauna. Beware that children under 5 are not allowed in the bath area and my sister and her 1.5yo had to wait outside/in the restaurant area. After soaking in to our hearts' content, we went to the restaurant and had some really tasty food that arrived quite quickly. Some meal options were sold out since it was so late.
They had a free shuttle from the onsen to the nearest station and the shuttle ran several more times outside it's schedule because there were so many guests waiting to board it.

Best onsen I have been. A dreamy place with several outdoor pools and a fantastic view to a forest with big trees. Definitely a must try. I tried one other the day before and was far too small. Definitely recommended and I will come back.
