Asante Inn

Lovely one night stay. Room was huge, and everything was clean and quiet. The staff spoke great English and were helpful. You have to “reserve” the onsen so be sure to put your room down in the lobby on the little board. The owner is actually the “shuttle” driver and he was so helpful. He drove us one extra loop since we wanted to go back to the Inn for our luggage. Would recommend getting the breakfast and dinner provided since everything closes early and it’s hard to get a reservation or anything.

Everything seems great. Food served in the lounge was decent. Staff is welcoming with a great level of English to accommodate (though I tried to use my Japanese skills when able). The only problem I’ll note is that getting down to here from Gora station with luggage is a treacherous task, navigating a narrow and roughly maintained stairway down the hill. This is not any fault of the Inn staff, as it’s far off their property and out of their control, but I think travellers should be warned in advance especially if they have heavy suitcases. A bus or taxi will save you a dangerous trek down the hill with your bags.

An intimate and traditional Japanese inn experience with modern conveniences and comforts. The staff is top notch and provide highly welcome kitchen services. They are very accommodating and strive to ensure your stay is pleasant & peaceful.

The onsens are easily reserved and expertly maintained.

Asante Inn was one of our trip highlights and quickly earned its place in our memory as did Hakone overall.

Absolutely amazing inn. We had a Japanese style room on the second floor for a night and it was very spacious and had everything we needed, air conditioning, bathroom, towels, bedding, tv, etc. The futons were very comfortable. I was very warm and it was very easy to fall asleep.

The downstairs lounge area is so peaceful. It has a gas fire going to keep guests warm, books to read, a sitting area, and an area to eat! The free private onsen was also a treat, very spacious and relaxing. The hamburger dinner and the Japanese breakfast were very delicious and it was so nice to look at the zen garden while eating.

The staff members were amazing, very kind and helpful and spoke perfect English. I didn’t ask his name, but there was a young man who checked us in as well as cooked all of our meals and answered our questions. We felt very thankful for him. Super happy with our stay! ありがとうございます！:)

This was our first time in the area and this place was beautiful and cherry blossoms were coming soon. And this was our first onsen. Love, love, Loved everything.

Very nice guest house, the living room is very smooth with the fire and tatamis. The garden is also very beautiful. Good experience to recommend!

Beautiful place to stay with great views. Service was great. Free shuttle to nearby station which is very convenient. The owner himself dropped us off and very helpful with our luggage. Food was great. Staff improvised our meal according to our need ( vegetarian) and taste. Staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Onsen is very nice and well maintained.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were spacious and clean. The private bath was an advantage especially for foreigners who are unaccustomed to Japanese onset. The lounge area was very cosy and overlooked a beautifully landscaped garden. We really appreciated the fireplace in the lounge during the cold winter nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the owner who came round during dinner to talk to the guests. He was a sincere and friendly man who even took the trouble to drive us to the station personally after check-out. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back if I visit Hakone again.

Highly recommend, had the most amazing stay here! The lounge and garden area are gorgeous, and to top it off, you can reserve a private session in the onsen. The staff and owner are so friendly, and I loved the free shuttle to Gora.

Wanted to do sightseeing after check-out and it was an easy process to have my luggage forwarded to Hakone-Yumoto Station (forwarding service comes at an extra fee).

The onsen that they have there is well maintained and spacious with specific times for each room to reserve a time. If you don't have plans I'd recommend the Japanese breakfast as it was delicious and worth the price. The location is not central to hakone and a little out of the way but the views are picturesque and the rooms were small but clean. The bathroom is shared with others and simple so not for those who aren't into the hostel experience. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at this inn over a holiday weekend (President's day in US). It was winter but the garden was still lovely as was the view of the mountains (including Mt Fuji) from our second floor window. We stayed in a quadruple room and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The room had a small sink and toilet but know that the shower in just a few steps down the hall. The best part about the inn is that every guest gets around 50 minutes of private use of the onsite Onsen - which was so relaxing! The breakfast was also very good as was the staff, everyone was so kind and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

Beautiful garden, peace and serene accomodation. There are 5 of us and they allowed us to add a futon for ¥5150 instead of booking 2 rooms. We stayed in room 204 with a nice garden view!

The reception staffs are very helpful and can speak English. We left our belonging at the hotel. They contacted me and help us post it to our next hotel. Excellent customer service.

We paid ¥900 per person for breakfast. You can book your breakfast when you check in. 2 types of breakfast to choose from, Either western or Japanese. We go for Japanese breakfast and it was delicious.

There are 2 private onsens. You can book the onsen for session starting 4pm-9:50pm. Each time slot is 40 minutes. The left onsen is much nicer and bigger. The right onsen is very small and can only fit in 2 adults. However, you are free to use the onsen in the morning before 1030am, no booking required, it’s first come first serve basis.

If you are coming by car, there are parking beside the accommodation.

I stayed here 3 nights in one of the Japanese private rooms. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is clean and inviting, the Japanese garden is beautiful and it's too bad it rained the whole time, I would have liked to have coffee on the terrace!
The onsen was lovely, I went every morning and night. The lounge is very nice and I enjoyed the potato salad and gyozas I ate here!
Every staff member was very nice and helpful. The owner was extremely nice and went above and beyond. There was a shuttle everyday to the station which makes up for the hotel being a bit of a walk away from the station.
I would highly recommend this hotel and I would book it again if I came back to Hakone area!

I can't believe I forgot to review here. I stayed here with my girlfriend without planning on our trip to Japan and so greatful we did!
The rooms were gorgeous, brilliant views and the futons the most comfortable and warm things I've ever slept on.
Staff were very friendly and even though we seemed to be the only people eating there I thought the food was soo delicious, they also had a good range of beer and the hot spring onsen were an amazing experience too.
The 0eople working were so nice they even gave us a ride to the cable car station for our day trip up the mountains before we went home.
It might sound silly but everytime I'm trying to think of my relaxing happy place it's always going to be Asante Inn. I can't wait to come back and spend more time here!

We absolutely loved our stay at Asante Inn. After coming from bustling Tokyo it was great to stay somewhere so gorgeous and peaceful. The location was perfect, the garden is pristine and the private onsen on premises was perfect after a long day walking around Hakone. The highlight of this place is definitely the staff. Everyone was so warm, friendly and helpful and made our stay extra special. Thank you so much for having us and we would definitely stay again!

asante inn is a gem in hakone, for the price i think the place is unrivalled. the staff are so kind and friendly, we had no idea how so many things in hakone worked and they were helpful in explaining everything to us. the inn itself is very cozy comfortable and inviting. reasonably priced food. the onsens were both great although i must say the left side onsen is far superior to the right side but both were good onsens considering we didnt have to pay for the service. they offer a free shuttle bus services to gora station which were insanely helpful because its a pretty rural area and getting around with bags can be quite tiring considering the mountaineous terrain! all in all super value packed deal when you stay at asante inn. very happy customer!

Our room was a beautiful Japanese-style room with tatamis and futons and we had a nice view of the top of Mt. Fuji and the Japanese garden, which is also very beautiful.
Another great thing was the Onsen. We enjoyed it privately.
Bathrooms are shared but new and clean.
The common space is wide and well furnished with style.
The guesthouse is brand new, it’s easy to find and there is a parking in front on it.
I really recommend this place !

Beautiful onsen hotel with foreigner friendly staff and spotless facilities. The garden is quiet and beautiful. The room was comfortable and we loved the lounge (and beanbag chairs for reading.) Thank you for your kindness! We definitely want to come back for autumn.

We had an amazing stay thanks to the wonderful staff. Ended having the entire place to ourselves, which was super lucky so our 2 year old terror could run wild without disturbing other guests. The staff were super accommodating, and helped us out with rides to the station a couple times. We made full use of the private onsen, rec room, and restaurant. All were awesome. Someone made a comment about the food being expensive, but coming from Tokyo I thought the prices were quite reasonable. The inn is a little out of the way though, so best if you have a car or don't mind hiking a bit. If we're ever back in Hakone, we won't stay anywhere else.

Really a very nice place to stay. Extremely clean, with all the amenities one could need. The lounge area feels cozy and inviting, the view of the garden is stunning, and the onsen is small but quite relaxing. I stayed here for one night with 3 friends, but because of work we checked in late (~20.30h). Still, the staff was very polite and friendly, and even allowed us to use the bath for a little while after closing (because we had to go get some dinner first). There are two restaurants within a 10 minute walk (a pizza bar and a Chinese restaurant). I definitely recommend the Chinese restaurant next to the 7/11, the food was very authentic and delicious.
All in all, a very pleasurable experience. If you’re in Hakone on a budget, please check out this place, it offers excellent value for money.
